The way I see it he manned up and made a smart career decision. He could have hung around and cried like Melo or Howard currently until he was traded or even wait until Cleveland got rich and he could cry about shipping the help to him but he honored his contract and took the next step in his career. Good for him.

I don't get why all the hate? None of these guys would have won by themselves or with a franchise like Cleveland who couldn't afford to buy the teams Jordan and Kobe had around them during their championship runs. All these guys cry like _____es to get better players around them, the fact one left a ____ty organization to do the same thing makes him worse is ridiculous. Every person in here would do the same thing Lebron did whether it be in sports or real life. Better situation financially, better situation for support, and better long term outlook. You're a liar or damn near stupid if you wouldn't do that for yourselves or your family.

"hey do you want to go work with your friends in a nicer city, make more money, and have better long term potential?"

"____ no I'm an idiot!"
Didnt they all actually take less money then they could have gotten?

He's a bigger brand in Miami in a bigger market with better long term potential for endorsements that come along with winning more consistently.

some players have done it but it was normally at the tail end of their career not in their prime (Barkley,Malone, Payton)

Yeah and what did that get them?! In Barkley and Maloney case they got squat. Payton has a ring but it wont have the same meaning and appeal of Lebrons not too mention that he never got a chance to win another.

Seriously guys... If you want criticized Lebron for his tv show and the WAY he left...that's fine. But let's not deny that the ring and the championship VALIDATES his decision. His goal was winning and his choice netted him that. Period.

better support? he made 90% of nba fans hate him by doing this.

He doesn't care about you... Or 90% of fans (except those in his teams city). He wanted to win. THAT was his goal... And guess what... The result JUSTFIES the choice. You stupid or stubborn or both if you can't admit that. And to anyone who says that he needed superstars all I have to say is this....

LeBron James has no PEERS in the NBA right now. He is far and away better than anyone else as evidenced by his evisceration of Durant led OKC. What he did is go to an organization that would pay and could attract Dwade and bosh instead Antwan Jamison and verajao.

All those he say that he didn't want to be the man are just plain WRONG. He was THE MAN this season. Without LeBron Miami doesn't make it out of the east.

Exactly!!!!! :goodpost:

OH and people seem to like him fine...his jersey sales were THIRD behind only Kobe and Drose.... And guess what? I'll bet u he's number 1 next year

And the statics to back that up?

I could post stats that Miami is a bigger media market than Clevland and that winning consistently (and now a championship) makes an athlete more marketable but I a was hoping common sense would cut out that middle man.

The Heat and LeBron earned it. LeBron is without a doubt the BEST player in the league. He is physically superior to anyone that has EVER laced them up.

Personally, I like many others lost respect for the guy for taking his talents to south beach and more specifically how he did it. If he won a championship in Cleveland or any other city for that matter he would be universally known as KING JAMES but he went to Miami as statistics and popular opinion still show, despite winning a championship he is still seen as LeBum.

By your logic he lost money by not going to NY so why not go to NY. Its a bigger market. A bigger market doesnt = more money. Show me where he got increase in contracts he held or new big contracts purely based on being in Miami.

YOUR logic is flawed... Because the majority of his money is made from endorsements not contracts.... In fact he signed a smaller deal so that the heat could sign the three guys. But winning championships is what drives endorsements. The disaster that is D'Antoni and the (then) Knicks would not have gotten him to the pinnacle. Any way he went to Miami for reasons that really didn't have to with money anyway... He wanted to play with his friends (miami was the only team that could pay them), he wanted to play for the Heat (which wether you like them or not is one of the BEST and most loyal organizations in the NBA) and he wanted to win.

Because the other cogs weren't in place in NY and market wasn't the only deciding factor. Market only came up because of the discussion of taking less in a contract and there being ways to offset that. He makes more by winning more and winning championships and gaining more exposure and more endorsements. His best chance to achieve that was in Miami.

Oh jeez, stay on or get off the bandwagon, make up your mind! :slap :rotfl

been on the Lebron bandwagon since 2005 :clap. Just because I don't pick the team he's on to win ALL the time, doesn't change that fact. We didn't even know how bad Bosh's injury was, and if he never did come back healthy, they would NOT have won it all or even made it past Boston.

You mad bro?

Lol

I'm just happy. Go back and read all the dirt people in this thread threw on me and my team (waaaay before eliciting my ire) and tell who was a prick. I'd like to say I'm a big a man as LeBron who accepted his trophy with decorum, integrity and without an ounce of defiance... But alas I'm not a bigger man.

No, I'm not mad. I don't really give a crap. I just can't stand gloating fans who act like they personally won something or like they are better at life because their team won.

Well at least you admit you're a bandwagoner. I suspected it but I do get the satisfaction knowing you finally admitted it. :wave

Funny how the biggest douches on the thread can't handle it when someone else is being a douche.

What I find funny is that the biggest douches of the BOARD that can't handle the biggest douches of the thread who can't handle someone else being a douche...case in point this donkey:

Or what? You going to close another thread? You already have a bad reputation on this board.
