After all that not even a mention of a team with the best record in the west and one of the longest streaks in NBA history, not to mention the most titles after the Lakers in this decade. :dunno

No disrespect intended, and Popovich does a fantastic job year in and year out, but I don't consider the Spurs a title contender. Playoff team? Yes. Serious title contender? No.

I'll be the first to admit I'm wrong and eat crow should the Spurs win the title next year. But I honestly can't see it.

That's all fine and good, but no team can't rest on its laurels and its past glory. The fact of the matter is that Tim Duncan is no longer the dominant player he was. Tony Parker was incredible this year, but can he carry a team to the championship? Who was the last NBA champion that had a PG as it's best player? Isiah's Pistons?

Again, no disrespect intended. Purely my opinion, and I'll have no problem admitting that I'm wrong next year should the Spurs win.

they were real close this year, just choked against the Thunder and I know they would of done better against the Heat then the Thunder (could hardly do worse). I'm not saying they will a title any time soon but when mentioning teams like the Grizzlies and Clippers (who got swept by the Spurs) the spurs have got to be in the conservation.

And yes a team can't depend on it's past glories, that info was more towards ironlongs who was acting like the Spurs are some joke, which couldn't be further from the truth.

I don't like the argument that San Antonio would've given Miami a better match up... San Antonio lost four games in a row to a team that played less defense and had a fraction of the composure that the Heat demonstrated. Who on San Antonio was going d up bron? And don't give me the argument that SA bench was the difference becuz going into the finals ALL of you (erroneously) thought OKCs bench was much better than Miamis and we all know what ended up happening there.

I actually thought The Heat would easily beat The Thunder. Spurs would of been a tough match up for the Heat. No one on the Heat could guard Duncan, Parker would of been a pain too. Who would guard Lebron? Stephen Jackson. He would of done a better job then Harden, thats for sure. I'm not saying the Spurs would of won, just saying it would of been a more competitive finals. I guess we'll never know for sure.

I think they would've put bosh on Duncan... Maybe even bron on a few processions. But you're right... We will never know

I actually agree with your assessment. Spurs are the biggest c-tease in the league right now and I've always said this team is not built for the playoffs. That's why I was so surprised when they were winning in the playoffs with the way they were doing it because it defined all conventional wisdom in how you win in the playoffs.

Offense be damned, until they rebuild with defense, they will be a superb regular season team but will not succeed in the playoffs.

Well thats why we got Leonard, for defense.Stephen Jackson is one of the better defenders at his position. Duncan if nothing else is still a great shot blocker but thats about it as far as bigs go.

Leonard is a good start, he will have to continue to work. Capt. Jack is a little long in the tooth and after game 2 vs. OKC, he just didn't have the same impact. Who knows how much longer TD has.

They can absolutely contend again, I have no doubt they have the potential, so long as the really commit to defense and rebounding. Those guys are out there, it's just a matter of finding them. They are not as far as off as some may think but they really need to face reality and stop trying to morph themselves into becoming the "San Antonio Suns". That type of team doesn't last long in the playoffs.

spurs are basically stuck in 2nd round purgatory. right now so are the lakers. sure theyll have nice seedings, long win stretches, ect. but winning a ring is hard, and I feel they both need a positive shake up. what exactly that is im not sure.. for the lakers it was chris paul. but the losers of the league wernt having another strong laker resurgance.. stern dicked kobes last few years... hate that ____hole.. he needs to go asap and have nothing to do with a predecessor..

looking back at the last 30 or so pages I found some real gems,,,

What you 'experts' said...

Of course, Miami wins nothing. They still have to get past Boston and that doesn't look too promising.

Omg Heat lose again! "Not three, not four not five (playoff failures)"

Put the Heat fans on suicide watch!!!! :lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol

As a diehard Knicks fan, I can only say:

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

After OKC went up 3-2 against spurs...

OKC is one game away from winning the NBA championship. Impressive run by these young guys. Tonight the irrelevance that is the ECF continues.

Must win for the spurs and heat in game 5 or we are looking at Thunder/Boston finals with Thunder winning that match up easily. Bosh returning in the series won't matter much in this one or if they are lucky enough to make the finals, they're gonna need a miracle.

Here's what I said after the Heat lost gm 4 in Boston...
Nobody in this thread knows squat about basketball... Including me. So let's stop prognosticating and making ridiculous blanket statements about how 'historic' some teams are or how little 'heart' others have... And just let things play out.

You may not know squat about basketball but my basketball iq is pretty damn high. Thanks :)

OKC in 6

I played division one basketball and experienced march madness. Been studying the nba for 30 years. Stick to your videos games and stfu

I'd like to see okc in 5. But ya. Prolly six. And nicknames are earned not self anointed. King? Joke. More like king durant

To bad that you won't be the last to laugh...:lol
O

Only other person with perspective...

Lebron's gonna win his first ring, Spurs had a great chance of beating the Heat but the NBA screwed them in game 6 so we can have everyone's favorite bandwagon team, the young, fast break, dunking thunder vs the Heat. I think the Heat will win in about 5-6 games.

Most of you proved your ignorance in these posts and others. At least I waited all season until we we were up 3-1 in the finals to talk smack. And even then, at least my team backed it up. Your teams... Are a bunch of losers.

Thats why they play the games. Even the so called experts get it wrong OFTEN. Miami was supposed to win last year and OKC was supposed to win it this year according to the experts, so :dunno. The only people that look really bad in this thread are the cocky ones that think their predictions are facts and will never admit otherwise.

I was wrong and it's not the first time in my life. Being wrong doesn't make one ignorant.

Wake you're as bad a winner as you are a loser.

Know why I hate Miami? Because of their fans.

Lakers offering pau to wizards for number 3 pick. Metta for a late round 1st

Wizards don't gain anything by picking up an aging all star, doubt that will happen, but if they decide to keep Nene, that would be a pretty good frontcourt. I hope Gilchrist falls to number 5.
