The Neca Gandalf still remains to be one of my favorites. I never got their Aragorn or Legolas. The Gollum is awesome though, but possibly too small?

Gollum is about the right size. Hobbits should be around half the size of people so don't compare SS Frodo and SS Gandalf's height ratio to Neca Gollum and a Neca 1/4 human figure. SS hobbits are on the tall side of things.

Thanks Figurefreaks, appreciate it :duff

Yeah, he does look so sad. NECA done a great job on him.

How does the 1/4 Gollum look next to the 1/6 ssc hobbits?

I just received the Neca Gollum and Sméagol...

Over-scale but not that far off from 1/6th, considering the SS Hobbits were over-scale as well. Just couldn't resist the excellent work that Neca did on these two. I got a good deal on the two so I had to get both; I prefer the mean one but the sculpts are so beautiful and expressive it really is a hard choice which to display.

These are fresh out of the box so the two of them definitely need a haircut/futzing.

Yes, its growing exponentially with my sudden obsession due to finally getting the extended trilogy on Blu-ray. Damn Blu-ray.

Nice! The movies do look great on blu. :rock Welcome to the "I've been bit by Middle-earth club!" :rock

Thanks! Its good to be here.

Asmus also had a huge part actually -- the fact that Gothmog and Witch-King got made in 1/6th really spurred me on to find the sale on the LOTR Extended Edition set. That and the fact we got a new 60" flat screen and Blu-ray player for Christmas this year.

It was the perfect storm for LOTR collecting. :lol

ASMUS is doing a really nice job so far it appears. I just have the Morgul Lord figure but he came out very nice and the others as they land appear to as well. So I can totally see how for someone more into that side of collecting it could get you started. Having a 60" HD TV doesn't hurt either. :lol

Same ! I tricked my GF into watching the extended trilogy in one go with me ;) She didnt know it was the "extended" version.
Asmus has got me all excited for the series again.

When LOTR came out, there was a lot of stuff from the movies to collect, but those were too expensive, and there wasnt much likeness in the sculpts etc.
Now we're finally getting decent priced, good looking figures ;)

I saw the WK on a store here in Brazil, there was just 1 piece , I bought it instantly without a second thought, and now I'm hooked to Asmus' line-up ;)

Yep, they really did wake up the sleeping giant. I hope that the soon-to-be released Gandalf is as good as promised and that they make some adjustments to Aragorn so that this line can succeed, Asmus can make some good money, and they can give us a long list of characters from the movies.

As you can see from the above picture, Frodo is a solid place holder but he really needs to be re-made (or at least a better sculpt). I'd be curious to see if Asmus gets that far along and if they do Hobbits, will they try to do the correct scale?

First off, I apologize for resurrecting a long-dead thread. But I nabbed NECA's Bilbo recently just because he was so cheap ($14 shipped at GameStop! Sold out now, alas, or I'd buy more), and since the movies turned a lot of people off (I don't plan to see them), no one seems to be into the merchandise, and damn it, Bilbo is amazing and I wanna talk about him! I figured this'd be a good place to do so.

The only other time I made such a casual decision to buy a clearanced figure that ended up winning my heart to this degree, it was also a NECA figure: Tonto.

Here are some Bilbo photos:

Finding and making extra accessories for him has been fun. I just wish I had the talent to create a backpack for him.

Meanwhile, Hastings has Gollum for $30, so I'll be procuring him in a week or so. I will be hard-pressed to produce anything half so haunting as paramoremcr88's Sméagol portraits!

Even though they are CG heavy and totally make characters and stuff up that wasn't in the book they are absolutely worth seeing. If nothing else just for Dain on his war-boar or the elven king on his stag. Tauriel, while not in the books is a nice bit of eye candy and although I don't like certain sub plots they built I am looking forward to her figure when releases. You should not write these off, while no where near as engaging or deep as the LOTR, they are still a great trip into Middle Earth
