Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

The ones that are painted yellow and black and red are worth hundreds sometimes :rock They really are cool things...

(predator :lol )
Mine is a dark green color, with VERY dark green stripes on the back that curve down to the yellow/whiteish belly.
I love this thing..trying to remember where I got it.
For some reason the medieval fair comes to mind..

NECA Predator pretty!

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

On those pics I saw something I didn't notice before. On the 7" figure the stringy bits of the loincloth that go down onto the thighs are a sculpted part of the legs and painted to look like the "cloth"

The 1/4 figure looks like the entire "loincloth" along with the stringy bits going down the legs is one solid and seperate piece from the legs. Cool.

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

Loin cloth and the tassels on the upper thigh are what I think separate pieces. The tassels are also not sculpted onto the legs, they are a separate piece of rubber that is glued at the joint to allow the netting to go under it.

Probably just a paint variation. There's quite a few with the kenner made toys of the 90's.

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

Would anyone bother getting the head repainted or touched up if it wasn't to their liking or are you lot gonna live with it cause its a $70 toy ? Am thinking of getting more detail painted and having it cleaned up if the paint job comes out sloppy....

BTW Macularius, how the hell is your sig so massive

you could probably get the head repainted/detailed. but from the production pics, it doesn't look like it needs a repaint. guess we'll see when it shows up. i'm considering having quills added to it, but i don't think there's any way to repaint the body unless the armor and netting are easily removable without destroying the figure.

Thats actually a good idea, getting the quills put in. I don't know why they didn't sculpt it on the head in the first place...just add that to the list of in accuracy lol !

you can't really "sculpt" quills onto the head. they'd have to be individually installed by hand by drilling placement holes and gluing the quills into place. which would jack up the production costs considerably. not even the much more expensive HT Elders came with pre-installed quills.

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

Unless, since it is such a large scale, they sculpted quills onto the head and cast it as a solid piece. McFarlane did it, but that didn't turn out too great, but I have faith that NECA this day in age could have pulled it off, especially since this is 20" tall when McFarlane's was 7" tall.

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

the 12" McF pred had them sculpted and it looked horrible. they just look like black knobs sticking out of the head. pred quills don't stick out straight either. and something that delicate would be impossible to get out of a mold.

It would be hard, I know, so i guess you are right.

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

C'mon guys...this thread is now on the next page lol....were loosing the top place !!!

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

the neca predator has quills, they're just sculpted flat on the head and face..
but it would be nice to have them sticking out instead.

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

they probably will for toy fare. i wish people would stop talking about stupid jurassic park garbage. every time that comes up in a predator thread, i'm gonna gore the eyes out of a puppy with a dull spoon.
