Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

It has the same amount of poseability as the most recent hot toys preds, and it's closer to the source material to boot. And if those are the actual toys that we will be receiving, the paint looks just as nice :hi5:

I seriously doubt it will have as much articulation as the HTs predator.

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

^ Yeah, I'm not a fan of NECA's articulation, but if the paint turns out as good as it is in the photos I don't really care.

Agreed.
The cheaper price, more accurate sculpt and bigger size more than makes up for the not so good articulation too IMO.

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

How does everyone plan on diplaying these, and in what?

I still have absolutely NO IDEA lol
...And im getting all 3!
:panic:
But im planning to only keep one of them(but keep all the heads) OR im going to try modifying a head that has interchangeable mandibles and a mask that is removable.
It might not be possible to do(may end up looking too inaccurate etc) but I will only know for sure once I get them.

Doubtful. And the cut joints will look even more atrocious in 1:4 scale. Besides all that, I'm HIGHLY skeptical that the paint apps will elevate this any higher than a turd in fishnets. Poor paints make most figures mediocre, but in NECA's case, all but unpurchasable. This will also be considerably more obvious in the bigger scale too.

Well, at this point, seeing as we haven't seen any pictures of them in the hands of collectors, either one of us could be right regarding paint :hi5: Although, if it does turn out good, I'm curious to see how you'll treat it.

There's only cut joints in the thighs, which are going to be covered with netting so if you didn't know they were there you probably wouldn't notice them.

You want ugly joints look at the HT wolf or some of those recent odd scream figures from neca:monkey3

I have no idea:panic:

What happened to all the 1/4 love guys?:dunno

Dude, there's always going to be the Negative Nancy and Debbie Downer showing up in these threads.

Just ignore them and their whining...you'll feel better.

This is a NECA thread though. I posted in a thread the other day saying until Hot Toys and NECA compete in the same market there's no point arguing about it:)

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

I plan on posing my Predator like the one on display at Stan Winston Studios. I'm going to make a base with clear resin water and assorted plant stuff from an art supply store.

Believe it or not, I'm fairly open minded :lol. I didn't understand all the hate for the Diamond Select 1:4 Darth Maul and not only own him, but display him. Like I said, the money's reserved and if it turns out decent, I'll buy it. If it doesn't, I'll :lol at all the blind trolls who will still, no doubt proclaim it's superiority in the HT and SSC threads.

I think giving the thighs cut joints was lame, as that severely hinders articulation. Especially on a predator who spent a good portion of the movie in deeper squats. And for everybody saying the cut joints will be covered by the netting, no they wont. And last time I checked, to be screen accurate, the netting had to go underneath the loincloth. :huh

I think it looks like it does. Look like the tassels on the cloth are separate pieces of plastic glued onto the top of the legs. I still think that he can reach his squats, or at least as far as i would ever want. Lastly, wont the netting cover up the cut joints?

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

It looks like most of the loin cloth is the hip piece, and just the tassles are on the leg and it seems like those are loose peice laid on after the netting is attached.

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

Hey, kiddo, quit trolling the NECA Neverneverland threads. They can believe whatever they want in here so long as they don't troll the HT threads or any other threads on like product. Respect the boundaries. It gives us more leeway when they don't. :lecture:lecture:lecture

As for this piece, I still haven't seen anything "in hand" and what I've seen hasn't really blown me away yet, and having to choose between faces (sculpted, roaring, masked) and the lack of poseability blows. I have $80 waiting but looks like it might get spent on something else.
:lol
Someone has to keep them in check...but its a lost cause... :(

There it looks like the netting is in 5 pieces (Torso, right arm and both legs). But looking at it, I think the cut joints on the thighs might actually be emphasized if the paint doesn't match, given the large holes in the netting.
