Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

tankman knows this. It's going to be down to how many of the P1s sell...So get buying all 3 guys:rock
Good point.
I do hope their run of 15,000 (or whatever many they're releasing) P1 gets sold out to show them that the demand for a good 1/4 predator exists.

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

There will always be demand for Predator. NECA has hit the nail on the head with this. A great sculpt for $80. Real netting and the company trying to improve its production at a new factory. Win! Win!:rock

Before anyone starts to say anything to put this down, remember this is a NECA thread:peace

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

All we know is they're selling out at places we regularly shop, but we have nod idea what percentage of the total ES that is. It could be 5000 of each sold out, that leaves 10000 warming pegs. With NECA you just have to enjoy the ride and the stops along the way, you can't plan for anything, there are always good and bad surprises.

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

Which is fine, except when your customer base is filled with people on a Hyundai Accent GL budget. The day NECA tries to sell their toys at prices on the same level as high end collectibles will be the same day NECA goes out of business.

.

They already have.....and this is the result of the $200 V for Vendetta statue...

i think that's assuming a lot. knowing NECA, if this P1 sells well enough, that will probably just tell them that we want cloaked or battle damaged versions of the same damn figure. i dunno if they connect sales of one figure to potential sales of a different one. it would be nice if they make larger scale versions of the P2 (i'd prefer 1/6 to 1/4, but whatever) but it will probably be more expensive to produce than the P1 because of the far more intricate paint app. so, we'll see.

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

maybe but 3-pack selling out @ BBTS before we had an official pic speaks very loudly. People are going crazy over these sculpts. @ $80 a pop...these 1/4 scale figures are going to FLY off the shelves. NO DOUBT.

There is a good chance this will be NECA's most successful 18" figure evaaaaaaaa

Also keep in mind, this isn't HT either. At NECA's low price, they probably have to sell through near the whole run of each to turn a profit. Can't really gauge that with specialty-shop sales status. Plus there's still the potential cancellations which will likely be inevitable once this guy starts landing stateside.

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

that netting looks just like chicken wire, such a shame , that they couldn't get it right. it don't make sense to me at all,.

Well, this absolutely ruins the figure. I hope nobody else buys this (and if you do you are mentally challenged and you shouldn't be allowed to collect these figures), and I hope this makes NECA go bankrupt. This is just extremely sloppy and IMO completely ruins it.

i didn't say or mean any such bull as you posted above.:pfft:
i have a right to my opinion, and i still say it's bull ____, they can't get the netting right.
it does take away from the great sculpt, imo, but i'm getting all 3 inspite of neca's lack of concern of doing the netting right.:exactly:

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

I'd be fine if they were all mailed in plain shipping boxes, Balrog style, and put the extra money into the paint apps. As long as the production figs look as good as the test shots shown here i'm good :)

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

I find it unlikely that is the final artwork, it looks rushed and amateurish.

  • Remove the red outline around the fonts, it makes the text harder to read. Change the font(s), use both upper and lower case. Make the credits look classy and not like a list of cities at the bus station.
  • Place the Predator and Neca logos on the side panels. Remove the Neca logo from top flap as it is competing with the Predator logo and violating it's space.
  • Use the red color from the original Predator movie logo, which is brighter and has no gradient. OR use the Predator logo and blue glow from the newest re-release of the film. The particular Predator logo being used on the packaging now would work better on lighter, less busy backgrounds.
  • Remove/change the AlienSkin black and white stripe pattern right below where the Predator logo becomes black and white stripes. The patterns are competing.
  • The back - Mention and show the features such as: articulation points, removable backpack, extra hand, etc. Make sure to show pictures of the back of the figure, currently the only thing you can't see through the window.
  • Check the top diecut with the actual weight of the cardstock. It may get stress marks and due to the inset corners. This bend may also cause issues with the glue holding the clear plastic sheeting.
  • Change the the color of the 1/4 SCALE font. Red text with a red glow is a bad idea. It's hard to read and unnecessarily busy.

I'd agree. For all the bragging about being the most accurate predators, something as basic as the netting shouldn't have been overlooked.

The actual box is going to be much, much bigger than that image. Im sure the text will be more than legible at that size.

I didn't sense an attack in his statements. He's just pointing out an aspect of the figure that's unexplainable. Quite frankly, I feel the same way. Was there a reason NECA went to great lengths to produce a figure like this only to miss something that seems simple...like the shape of the netting? Was there any legal issues stipulating that they could not use diamond shaped netting? :thud:

Like he says, it doesn't make sense.
