Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

Plus, it's NECA, they have already pushed the boat out on this figure. For that price it's fine.

Just wait for when Hot Toys releases the Classic Predator. That bad boy is gonna get his ass whooped on here for the price of him:lol

yea but he will also have a good amount of accessories, which this has none. HT has already established a price point for their figures, so only the whiners will complain about the classic's price point when he is released. This is new territory for Neca, so a higher price point without proving a quality piece wouldnt be smart.

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

I would bet once people see pictures of a factory figure these will sell out quickly. A 1/4 Predator figure for the price point Neca is asking is hard to pass on.

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

Well put. Because this piece is getting such a great effort out of NECA, it's attracting a lot of customers who might normally dismiss NECA for their product quality, but ultimately, we are lucky as NECA collectors to be getting the quality we are. This piece is quite above and beyond for them, I'm still surprised they're giving such an effort. They are ultimately a low-price collectible maker with a market that does not allow them to "spare no expense" to get a product to be as right as possible, they have limits and constraints to keep costs to certain levels in order to survive in their market. If they ever choose to go after the Hoy Toys market, they could probably do even better, but they will also be priced higher. Right now, their prices are aimed at small and big budgets.

To be perfectly fair, that's something that's been vomited on everybody in this forum by the hardcore NECA collectors, beit Terminator, Predator, whatever. Put the blame where it's due. :lol

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

All i'm saying is, with NECA what you see, is not what you get. When you hold it in your hand, that is the final product.

I remember when the 300 figures came out, I went to buy them the first day on the shelves...I was pretty anxious. I was afraid they would be hidious. But they werent, and are still NECA's best work.

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

I think NECA really is a victim of it's own success and achievements. When we get excellent figures with great paint apps we are happy, but when we get QC problems, less than par paint apps, or don't get features or accessories we think we should get, we jump all over them.

Go into your local Toys R Us and look at the figures a relatively smaller company like NECA has to offer. $15 for highly detailed, painted and newly tooled figures like Crysis, Bulletstorm, Dead Space, Bioshock, Predators.

Look at the Product that a massive company like Mattel has to offer, their DCUC figures, or even online premium priced figures like the MOTUC ones that everyone seems to fawn over, for $18 to $20, have minimal tooling, minimal paint apps, and just as many, if not more, QC problems as NECA.

But we are used to the Mattel figures being more "toylike". They seem to be held to a more forgiving standard. NECA's figures seem to be held to a higher standard. They are action figures just the same, not high-end specialty prodcut like the ones they are being compared to. Hell, this release of the 1/4th Predator is being compared to the high priced and high-end lines like Hot Toys, and Sideshow; not the giant sized and similarly priced figures from companies like Mattel and Hasbro.

I collect figures from multiple franchises and companies, and as much complaining that goes on about NECA, I've has the fewest breakages, sloppy paint apps, and QC problems with them compared to other companies that make action figures.

NECA makes amazing figures, expect great things from them. But don't expect $200 to $300 quality for a figure with an $80 MSRP, it's just not fair or right.

Um.. the people comparing it are NECA fans. :slap

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

Buy it all if you're a major Predator fan basically. I mean why wouldn't you. Why the need to exclude one cool piece over another.

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

I meant the negative comparisons to other companies, things like the box design lacking, netting accuracy, inclusion of accessories, expectation of paint apps, etc.

Sure there are plenty of positive comparisons and expectations when placed against Hot Toys and Sideshow, like the figure's sculpting, size, price point, etc.

I was speaking of those who were unfairly singling out percieved negative aspects of the figure that are due to the fact that the figure is not produced in the same way or by the same standards as the higher end and more expensive companies.

Maybe I worded my first post incorrectly, I was just more generally saying that sometimes it seems like NECA gets unfairly singled out when they have QC problems or everything is not perfect. I have no problem with voicing your opinion and wanting to see a product improved because you are a fan of the company and product.

I was just saying that somtimes the expectations and standards NECA is held to, is the same expectations and standards that the higher end companies are held to. And when NECA does not meet those inflated expectations some have, the company is unfairly called out as having horrible QC or not caring.

I wasn't really directing the post at anyone, it was more of a general observation.

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

Well, this isnt a forum catered to those kinds of figures though. I mean, I know it's more of a general collectibles site, but this is forum is more high end, then low end. That's Spawn.com stuff.

Not saying they dont belong here...but it's like going to the DC forum, and talking about how cool Marvel is. :dunno

His response was to Maulfan who wrongly assumed that the people critiquing this to such a microscopic level were the high-end HT collectors when in actuality, as Devil pointed out, it's the resident NECA collectors who're nitpicking it to death.

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

Because, as everyone is ASSUMING, no Hot Toys fan will be buying (or critiquing) this particular piece. :cuckoo:

Anyone who is saying that it is only NECA fans, and not Hot Toys fans, who are the only ones nitpicking this, are sadly mistaken.

Got to agree with sabres on this.Deep down inside i didnt want this piece and kind of wanted it to fail.I love my hot toy figures and dont want to feel like im missing out due to cash and if given a good reason i would save my money for another hot toy predator, but any issues with this sculpt or netting ect ect is still not making the price or a good reason to not love these predators.
I do have too much stuff and down sized to only 1/6,but hot damn i must own this piece.:yess:

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

wow.....didn't realize how personal many people take there Predators....haha... I can just see TANKMAN face palming all the little goofy comments...

Lets look at something...How many of you are finding NECA PREDATORS in the stores shelf warming? Not me....

NECA Predators are successful because the guys behind the art are putting heart into it....so that being said....

These things will sell out so fast, and I predict them tripling in Value in the next three years...
