The NECA figure looks squat and short. Especially in the midsection/torso. And the face doesn't look right.

the body is the same as the P1, the belts on that proto are a little too high and the netting all make the midsection look fatter than it is. i dunno what's different about the face other than it's a different expression than the pics you posted.

There are some errors for the larger version would have to be solved.

1. the straps are missing on the legs.
2. the laser at the plasma gun is missing.
3. The mandibles are too wide. The mouth should be closed.
4. the bristles on the head are too short.
5. missing bristles on the jaw.
6. the stain pattern on the front is missing.
7. I think the head would be more narrow.

the face on the Neca looks weird, the HT face is much more accurate. Other than that, the Neca version looks good.

I owned the HT one, and the head always bugged me. He had a much steeper forehead than he was supposed to. Maybe he was a better hunter with that inaccurately large brain of his, but the Neca proportions look to be closer to the movie. Remember, the one in the movie WAS the P1 head sculpt, just with prosthetic appliances glued on for the spikes and such. And we know Neca got the proportions of the P1 head down. I think better paint and lighting would make it look really close.

I had ordered the 3-pack and now just canceled it. I ordered just the masked Pred for now and if it turns out well then maybe I'll order the rest afterwards. Don't want to take a chance on spending $300 for the 3-pack and then I don't like them.

I agree...not sure if the HT version is much more accurate though.

I'm not a fan of the Elder's Paint Job. It looks good, but where i see him i don't think..."wow, that's the Elder Predator from P2"...i agree that the NECA Elder would benefit from new pics with more natural lighting and better angles.

I always felt like the HT head failed to capture the ferociousness of the P1 from the movie. I feel like Neca is doing a much better job at that.

I'm not a fan of the Elder's Paint Job. It looks good, but where i see him i don't think..."wow, that's the Elder Predator from P2"

The way the mandibles are sculpted is what really stands out to me. I feel HT got that part of it right and makes him look more aggressive looking.

As far as the paint goes, its actually quite accurate compared to the HT version and what the actual costume looks like. The real costume has a very light grey coloring. I know the darker brown that the Elder looks like on film is better, but his skin color only looks brown cause of the lighting on film. Much like how the Aliens look blue in color, but the costume is really brown, due to lighting.

TBH, in the end it's irrelevant because that's a 2-Up Prototype i.e. it doesn't represent what you'll actually be getting anyway.

The end product isn't crappy.. but I think everyone would agree, the prototype (that was the only pic NECA provided to promote it) is not an accurate representation of what you actually get.

that's the same thing I did, but I really only want two, masked and open mouth,
bbts only had the 3 preorder, so I was like I might as well get all three and try to sell the third one or something, then the open mouth and masked were able for preorder a couple of days ago, so i cancel the 3 and preorder those 2,
but, if you think about it, I will pay 180 with shipping for 2, and the 3 predators will be 220 with shipping, technically speaking you are like paying 40 more for all three,
I thought about it but, the only one that hasn't sold out is the close mouth, and even for just 40 more, I just really want the other 2

As far as i can tell the masked one is / will be the most popular, so I ordered that one first so I don't miss out. The closed mouth one I'm not really into either. For me to get the 3-pack here in Canada, it was costing me $300 with shipping and tax and all that crap, so that's why I canceled. Like I said, I'll see if they're worth it and maybe get the open mouth later.

I think the head is sitting too low, the eyeline is too low in relation to the plasmacaster. The neck should be longer, that would help making the head look narrower (probably it will need some fine tuning too)

If the head sits too low it makes it look like its hunched, and the eleder has a thin and long body constitution.

I agree with EP2. These angles are much more flattering. They highlight the Elder's mature trademark mandibles...which the stock photo fails to do. If he comes out looking like this, i'm in for a 7" & 18" Elder (if made).

that was painted by the old factory, by the way. what we get from the new one will look at least as good if not better.
