Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

:horror OMG SO EXCITED! :panic:

Me too:hi5:

I noticed that NECA likes to bash Hot Toys alot on their Twitter. I understand that they are excited about this piece, which has the potential to be:yess::clap:yess::clap but with two not being competitors in price and scale, I don't get it.

Plus, I'm keeping my fingers crossed on the paint job x x

Not long to wait...

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

I was just Over at BBTS and they were all available,
it looks like it keeps doing that, I really want my predators to be here, I hope they come soon

I was Also wondering, How would the mandibles be glued, what i mean is, could someone take the open mouth predator and make it into a closed mouth predator if they wanted? is anyone doing that?

if someone could pull that off, there wouldn't be a need to buy all 3, I was just talking to a friend today and he was asking me that, it made me wonder about it, I mean, that's why I ask, about the mandibles, could a customizer pull it off, have it both open/close mouth?

I was thinking about trying something like this if HT doesn't release the Classic Pred from Pedators along with making a Bio mask for it. as well as other little rework and tweaks on this figure

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

I was in I think 5th grade when this hit theaters, and my brother saw it and said it wasn't all that good, so I ended having to wait to rent it on VHS to watch it. When I saw the local grocery store had it at their little video rental section, I waited all day for it to be returned to rent it. It took about 3 days at 6 hours a day to get it. Needless to say, it's one of my all-time favorites and was worth the wait. Even after a tour in the Army over here in the States, and learning the movies military/tactical accuracy was waaaaaayyyyyy off, I still wouldn't want anything changed about it.

James Cameron and Stan Winston were at their prime around that time, with Predator, Aliens, T2, no amount of CGI or $$$$budget can ever duplicate what they had. The unmasking of the Predator, and finally seeing the Alien Queen for the first time, are two of the GREATEST moments in motion picture history.

The motion picture industry wants computer whizzes for their visual effects, and the talent of the FX artist is declining, so the masters like Savini and such can't get the budgets to do what they used to, and with the unmatchable skill Winston had being forever lost, we'll never have memorable films like this again. And Cameron got Oscar fever, so he's more concerned with what critics think, and got away from his roots, IMO.

I can watch these movies from the '80s- early '90s over and over again (P1, T1-T2, Aliens, Friday the 13th 1-8, A Nightmare on Elm Street 1-4) because that was cinema at it's best, and we will never see that caliber of sci-fi/horror again.

Sorry about the lengthy reply :lol

The first time I watched Predator was when a friend of mine in Jr. High gave me a bootleg VHS copy from the studios. It was grainy but, wow, still enjoyed every second of it.

Regarding this part ---> "And Cameron got Oscar fever, so he's more concerned with what critics think, and got away from his roots, IMO."

I couldn't agree with you more.
People will disagree with me, but Avatar comes to mind.
I just didn't feel like it lived up to the hype. The critics agree, though, and as a result it received three Academy Awards: Best Art Direction, Best Visual Effects, Best Cinematography. That right there tells you how computer driven the movie was. Not that that's a bad thing, but hardly what I consider to be a good movie.

No one makes films like they used too, that's what makes them so special and brilliant in present day. The Predator, Alien Queen and JP T-Rex for example still look more real than anything made these days.

All good examples, especially that T-Rex.
I watched the featurette describing how much trouble that puppet was giving the crew. They still stuck with it and I'm glad they didn't CG that scene. Amazing.

lol, those silly asshats. They couldn't even package 3 heads in one and they have the nerve to say something.

'87 Predator > '04 Scar

'86 Queen > '04 CGI shots of AVP Queen

'93 T-Rex > '05 King Kong V-Rex

The > wins every time:D

That would have been nice but I wasn't expecting anything but the three individual versions really.

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

Has anyone ordered from cmdstore.com before? When I preordered all 3, they were the cheapest that still had them in stock. Kinda pissed that Toys 'R Us just put them up with free shipping and cheaper. Cmdstore has a 15% restocking fee for cancelled preorderes. D'oh!

Re: NECA 1/4 Predator

Now, how to go about swapping the heads, hmmmm......;)

Hopefully it's simple to do. Even with owning all 3 variants I'll most likely only be displaying one/ two if I can create space, so I'll be swapping the heads around every now and then. It will be easier swapping the heads then taking the whole figure out the box every time.
