Those concept art pics, while being the pics that got me excited about this, are simultaneously annoying me because Hick's face really shouldn't be ****ed up to that degree, if at all. Don't these guys have a copy of Aliens to see how he looks at the end of that film?

I don't know, yeah it looks a bit overdone but you know 'age' and scar tissue probably arent a good combo.

I am not too upset but it does look like most of the damage from the film was centered around the outside of the eye, not the entire eye. It is a bit overdone, but there was decent damage I think.

EDIT: Plus, if you imagine the acid continued to eat away at the skin after this moment on screen, but before he reached the med kit, one could imagine more damage might have occurred that was not seen on screen. Just posing the possibility.

But would it have migrated down his face and screwed up his mouth and chin too? And his neck by the looks of it. They turned him into Harvey Two-Face.

Well, as of June 29th, he was not 'officially' in yet. In this interview he expressed optimism he would be eventually.
Pic was released on July 15th, for what it's worth (possibly not much).

Yeah, Colonial Marines did it better.

Yeah, your right. Covering the entire face from hairline to chin is more than a little overkill and pretty over the top.

You know what I'd prefer? The Genocide storyline. The initial Dark Horse follow-up to Aliens would've been awesome years ago, but now? Everyone's looking a bit 'long in the tooth' to be doing this. (No offense. "None taken." :lol) We don't need Ripley to continue the Alien saga. At this point it's more of a hindrance. We just need awesome screenwriters, directors with a vision and something to prove and no studio interference. (I'm sure I've got a better chance of winning the lottery than that last one... :rolleyes2)

I'm not in for NECA's new 1/4 scale Big Chap at this point - it just looks too 'off' to take up that much space in my room, but I am holding out for a Warrior... :yess:

Too bad the warrior depends on the sales of the big chap. Hopefully it sells well and we get a warrior and eventually a dog. Ill buy the big chap because I like it, but the warrior already looks better and we have only seen one picture.

Personal quirk. Being male myself, I prefer my on-screen alter-ego to reflect that.

It's a wonder women have put up with the vast majority of shooters out there.

i mean drake was considered dead when he got a faceburn like that. Maybe they shouldn't have given up on him.

FORGET HIM; HE'S GONE!

Not really. Most women prefer games like Bejewelled, Candy Crush or the Sims. There are a "vast majority of shooters out there" because ever since the days of Wolfenstein 3D and Doom, the FPS has proven to be a genre ideally suited to the gaming tastes of a huge number of young (and not so young) men.

That is pretty sexist though. I know many women who like to play video games. I have quite a few of my friends who like games such as dark souls and many other rpg's and shooters. I love Alien Isolation because it has a strong female lead character who isn't sexualized like most females in gaming.

Still no reason why shooters should be so male-dominated. Hell, let's switch lenses and look at video games in general.

The fact you had to make that comment about Bejeweled and Candy Crush says plenty about the consideration and acknowledgement of women in the gaming world. As others have said, it was a lame gripe to begin with, but your only defense of it was rather telling. Not of you necessarily, but of a tendency that developers and consumers have to keep these 'tastes' restricted by gender. I think Isolation was great for that reason. I just haven't played it in months because I, too, find such games to be more masochistic than enjoyable. :lol Sure is fun to break out when folks visit, though.

That is the reality of the market. Most women gamers are "casual" and play mostly games like the aforementioned and/or similar mobile titles. The majority of hard-core gamers, the ones who pre-order the triple A titles and sink thousands of dollars into their gaming rigs, are men.

I know many women who like to play video games.
I'm sure most of us do. Doesn't change my point.

Meh. I liked Taylor better.

I just explained the reason why shooters are male-dominated.

That you must stoop to positing conspiracy theories about the gaming industry's marketing tactics is nothing if not telling.

I'm glad that we can agree on that, at least.

Ripley would kick your a## for that comment, you know?
Depends on which Ripley you're talking about. The xenomorph-hybrid clone Ripley? Maybe, given her combination of bitchiness and outright superpowers. Original Ripley? I'm gonna say "no". :rolleyes2

I was going to read your whole post... But then I saw this bit at the end. Sorry... but no.

Standard Ripley finds a way to beat everybody (including Hybrid Ripley). Why? For the same reason Batman beats everybody.

Because that is what she does.

Sallah

It's not a conspiracy. It may not even be a conscious or deliberate choice. It's a tendency, something that developers and consumers treat as a given and then perpetuate with each new release.
That and the whole "fake gamer girls" thing only adds to the stigma. I don't see where all the pride and prestige comes from playing "legitimate" games. What is a legitimate game? Why is it so bad (or at the very least, worthy of shunning and labeling) to play casual games?
Make no mistake: it's a boys' club because it's defined as such by its members through their actions. There may be historical trends, but reciting them and holding onto them in today's world only keeps those outdated norms in place.

Maybe if we were more inclusive with our content, more girls would join in. Your comments, however rooted in "reality" they may seem, are no better than the ill-advised Dr. Pepper Ten ad campaign.

I wonder if there are custom dioramas (prefferably Detolf-sized) on sale somewhere around the web for these figures. I've found a couple of eBay listings for custom NECA 7" dioramas but they are just.. ok I guess.

"Probably wave 10 just like we did with Predator & you may see some humans too. Should be a fun line" - Randy

From the horse's mouth. For those interested, it looks like we will be waiting for wave 10 to see some Kenner Aliens. I really hope we get to see the snake alien and the wild boar alien.
