That looks really good actually. They will definitely still be transparent

Edit: yeah it looks like that is a prototype without the lips.

Why so many , I have about 10 total aliens .

I would need a full sub-level 3 diorama with the Aliens blended into the walls if I were buying that many. 20 Aliens just standing on a shelf doesn't look great to my eyes. I have about 5 aliens in a set up with the Queen, 2 of those Aliens are the NECA BD versions from the 2 packs and one of them is an old McFarlane one. The remaining is one brown warrior and one blue.

Below that though I've got a makeshift perspex vent with a bunch of old McFarlane Warriors crawling through it and Sgt Windrix at the end of it with a pulse rifle.

Yeah! It seems they will be transparent but the photo from gamestop still looks weird to me...(the one with the open mouth). Ican't wait to see better pictures...

My thoughts on Aliens Ripley

pros
  • The figure indeed ''feels'' of a higher quality than the earliest Aliens waves and the skin has that waxy look ala the Dutch figures which I far prefer. The painting on the face is good.
  • A great overall silhouette, excellent sculpting of the body and clothes, proportions look accurate
  • articulation from shoulders down is aesthetically well done
  • supremely iconic version of Ripley, her ''Going after Newt'' look

cons
  • I can see that the ball-joint head was necessary but the execution of it isn't great, there's a huge gap underneath her chin making the profile look awful
  • the headsculpt is passable but doesn't exactly scream Sigourney Weaver. Her hair is sculpted too high for my liking
  • paint immediately flaked off the joints under the armpits
  • what I presume are meant to be sweat-patches on her T-shirt just kinda look weird, particularly the ones on her outer arms, do people normally sweat there? On the figure it just looks like paint mess but it's on both figures so I know it's deliberate
  • the gun holding pose was rendered impossible on one of my two figures because the wrist joint on her trigger hand was glued. This joint needs to be able to move in order for her to hold the rifle down at her waist as she does in the film. I'll use that particular figure in the Powerloader

So that's more cons than pros but despite this I'm happy, in no small part because of point 4 in my pros list. This figure is a pretty big deal. I hope NECA continues to milk this license, they really could get years out of it. Ripley alone could get a variety of figures from each film. At a certain point in Alien she had her hair tied up and it'd be nice to have that. In Aliens she variously wears the full light blue jumpsuit with or without a leather jacket and it'd be cool to get those aswell. And of course continuing with other human characters. Sprinkle in creature rereleases, maybe new BD variants, new mouth sculpts with lips covering teeth etc etc. Really, anything else from the first 3 films and I'm in as long as my finances allow.

So, is anyone else looking forward to the Kenner-inspired figures? I still have all of my old "Aliens" figures from when I was a kid, so the nostalgia factor is gonna be really high for me. Definitely looking forward to Scorpion and Gorilla Xenos the most. I'll be interested to see if they tackle the more outlandish Xenos like Snake or Bull.

I think it will definitely be more interesting than the predators because of how crazy most of them are. I'm very excited myself, especially since I mostly only collect xenos rather than human figures.

...I was going for movie only figures but caved for the videogame Dog Alien and ordered the Isolation Xeno, but that's where I draw the line. Series 10 and any Kenner inspired figures will have nothing in it for me.

I just cant bring myself to be interested in human figures jn general. Im getting ripley and half bishop but thats it. I will and so far buy every xenomorph in this line though. (Except the battle damaged ones that came with hicks and hudson)

I've definitely been waiting with baited breath for Kenner inspired figures. The Aliens ones were my favorite.

They probably won't, but it would be awesome if for some of the figures they tried to incorporate homages to their original action features like having a pull-apart scorpion alien, water spitting gorilla alien, bull alien with pull-out neck and the like.

Are you kidding? I've got several sets of NIP Series 1 Aliens I'm selling just to reserve funds for the Kenner line. :lol I can't see them doing a new Kenner-inspired Queen, but I am hoping for the Flying Alien Queen version. That's just plain awesome.

...care to throw some Xeno Warriors my way? My hive needs a few more :wave

Dreading the kenner stuff myself. As a kid I collected those because I wanted to play Aliens, but I'd have taken movie-based figures over that made-up stuff any day of the week. I'm content to leave the past in the past on this one.

Yeah especially the dual launching chestbursters!
