...I stand corrected (if the AVP wiki is to be believed). The Predator on the first movie: 7'3". The Alien on the first movie: ~7' 2".The Alien (Xenomorph) - Xenopedia - The Alien vs. Predator Wiki
Jungle Hunter - Xenopedia - The Alien vs. Predator Wiki

Still, a taller Predator just doesn't look 'right' to me. :lol
it's strange.
the only thing about alien being high were one or two scene with humans, and they weren't even done in full height. and those humans weren't big.
two predators towered above Dutch and Harrigan significantly and intentionally. both humans were very muscular and not midgets.
so a high alien should be a lot closer to myth and unproven information than a high predator. but it is another way around for some reason.
i wouldn't wonder if it goes from comics as well as all that other crap like codes, dnas and so on.

Well I dunno if the idea originated here but Alien 3 helped to propagate it.

That Alien was at no point played by a 7ft something man^ but evidently they intend that it is that tall. Furthermore, Ripley hasn't even seen the Dog Alien at this point in the film - she is describing what she remembers of the original Alien and the Warriors in Aliens. Now, you could call that an example of 'retcon' - who says Scott or Cameron wanted audiences to consider their Aliens to be that big. It seems likely, who wants a shortarse Alien.

As far as the toys though, I think ideally you'd base it on Badejo's height in the suit in the first film and mimic that with the Warriors (even though no one who wore a Warrior suit was that tall unless I'm mistaken)

one of the links i posted quotes Scott saying Alien is 7'2". i think it ends it :)
as for 8 ft or anything else in descriptions, aliens didn't just stand next to a ruler, they crawled. and a crawling alien has his long head and long tail + it is skinny = it seems very, very long.

Even if scott said it, I like it that the aliens are tall but skinny and the preds are shorter but bulky

Alien 3 propagated a lot of bad info apparently. Like the fact Ripley was even a Lieutenant! She was a Warrent officer in Alien. She was supposed to get reinstated (never said promoted) in Aliens. Then was magically a Lt. in Alien 3...And NECA ran with the "Lt. Ripley" on the box art of that figure like a sheep...

But back on topic, The other thing I think propagates the idea of the Aliens being taller is a preference to be 'fair'. Preds and Aliens both have sharp cutting objects, but predators have guns. If the opponent without the guns isn't more physically imposing, it doesn't feel 'fair' and is less interesting. I think it is just human nature to think of Aliens as bigger than Preds because it feels right.

You can't use the actor's height to judge those of the creatures. In AVP, the actors stood on crates. The original Godzilla was a puppet, but is supposed to be 30 stories high.

What counts as cannon is what happens ON SCREEN, and not behind the scenes. So if they said the alien capped rainbows, then that's what it does.
If they say it's 8ft, then there's no discussion.

Just paid myself into credit on my VISA card, enough to cover the PowerLoader, my 2 egg sets and the T2 Ultimate T-800. So I'm ready when you are NECA. Give them to me, now.

Hey everyone! New to the thread. To not have to go through 789 pages, has NECA ever made mention on a forum or anywhere that they might make a Newt at all at some point? For me, ALIENS Ripley feels empty without her to protect. Thanks!

...is it wrong that I read that last part in Schwarzenegger's voice? Seems we're getting the same stuff. Power Loader will have to wait til next year though...

...on Twitter, Randy said they weren't going to make her. No likeness rights plus apparently it's difficult to sell child's figures. That last part I don't buy, cause who wouldn't want a Newt figure to go with her Aliens Ripley?

P.S. Is it too wrong that I'd have an extra Newt for the autopsy scene in Alien³? :monkey3

Laugh. Thanks so much for letting me know, even if it is bad news. :)

Alien figures have always been made off scale, they're always way too tall compared to human figures which are supposed to be in the same scale. HT does, NECA does it, everybody does it.
Strangely enough, if you have the HT's first P1 pred and Medicom's Alien, you have two almost perfectly to scale figures.

Not at all, that's what I was going for, in fact probably what everyone who uses that combination of words is going for.

I still love Neca's first attempt at the 22" Big Chap

paint is beautiful. outstanding not only for a mass product, but even for a custom.
"face" sculpt is worse than anything i've seen. very unexpected from their alien/predator sculptor, i don't stop wondering how he could do that since their small scale alien.

I don't mind the Alien, Big Chap, Xenomorph, whatever you want to call it, being slightly larger than the Predator. Despite Ash's claim that it is a perfect organism, the Alien will never, as far as we can tell, build a gun or a bomb or travel to distant galaxies. It should be able to rely on superior size and speed, as well as an ability to hunt in a pack. Makes for a fairer fight.

It's hilarious how imperfect the Alien is actually. ''Structural perfection'' :rotfl It's anything but that with its giant ***k for a head and weird pipes sticking out of its back.
