I wonder if someone living in Antartica ever went with Economical Shipping to save $3.00 on a DVD on Amazon. :lol

I'm sure overnight to Antartica comes out to a 6 month delivery time. :lol

I would of went with higher shipping. But the lowest shipping itself was about 16$ us which is about 21$ Cad.
Man our economy is so bad right now

Anybody ordering the Kenner style Alien vs Predator TRU exclusive?

I really want this...but I am in Japan and the cheapest I could find it here is around $60....that's not so bad I guess.

ha, i remember this set. ordered it after decades again for nostalgic reasons.
no interest in repainted new sculpts, they don't have that value.

I got it because of the tribute and the black domed alien. Also it will be my first predator figure and my first predator in general.

... the black domed Xeno looks sweet, but I won't be going for any Kenner tributes. Besides I don't like the paint on the Predator

So you ordered the original Kenner set?
yep, that alien+predator set:

$_57.JPG

i don't know if it was original or bootleg.
still remember those mad green eyes and freak face :) no possibility of watching the movie then or download screenshots, so it was nice enough ) i remember taking heads of other toys and putting them in a jar with fairy, pretending it's a predator trophy collection :)
i never had the alien from that set in my childhood, my parents didn't give me money for him. but i saw him on shelves - and finally got them both 25 years later or so :)

as for Neca, the very idea of putting their alien and predator on one shelf is super wrong:

$_57.JPG

movie alien 1 should be same or lower than movie predator 1, and this pair brings the height mistake to a significantly higher level than even HT did.

How tall was the actor who played the predator?

...yup, NECA's scale is right. Kenner got it wrong, but then again those were children's toys

Kevin Peter Hall (Predator): 7 ft 2 in (218 cm) (wikipedia)
suit additions: artifitial feet (same as alien), head crown & helmet add a little to actor's head (in P1. in P2 his crown was a lot higher due to another head shape).

FKGOQ8XHIYWYOTM.LARGE.jpg

Kevin-Peter-Hall-as-the-Predator-1987-partial-face-reveal.jpg

Bolaji Badejo: 6' 10" (2,08 m) (imdb)
suit additions: artifitial feet (same as predator), head adds just a little to actor's height (same as in P1):

75

so even if suit additions are similar in P1, alien is still a little lower.
if compared to P2, alien is a lot lower, but this Neca set uses P1 body.
(i specially take only A1 as an example, because all others didn't have giants playing them, but it was not intentional)

...yup, NECA's scale is right. Kenner got it wrong, but then again those were children's toys
as i said, actor Hall was higher than actor Badejo. you can google their artificial feet and see that they were similar.
so their waists and eyes should be at least on one level. (Bolaji's eyes are somewhere in the middle of alien head, unlike A2 and later, where actors stored their heads in fat necks).

$_57.JPG

here predator's waist doesn't even reach the beginning of alien's body, and predator's eyes don't even see alien's neck.
so no, Neca scale is so wrong that even ht didn't get it so wrong (unless you take into consideration their midget P1).

to be in scale they should be like this:

... using the actor's height as the actual size, instead the on screen intended size would mean for example that the actors playing Hobbits are in fact midgets. Aliens are meant to be a lot taller than humans

... using the actor's height as the actual size, instead the on screen intended size would mean for example that the actors playing Hobbits are in fact midgets. Aliens are meant to be a lot taller than humans
using intentions instead of actual screen events would mean that predator was an invisible mind-controlling entity hidden in trees, and alien was a four-legget wingless fly with hooks for arms.
there were lots of scenes of alien full size in nostromo's surroundings, they were played by actual actor with his actual size, with no computer modifications like hobbits were. those surroundings didn't change their size when humans were in them.

but i guess you just wish to argue, which is not my intention.

as for intentions...
Source Quotes
1.Ridley Scott: The alien had to be 7ft 2in. We found a man Bolaji Badejo from the Gold Coast who when stripped had a figure like a Giacometti sculpture and was 9in. taller than the height of the door. But where do you find a woman like that? (David Lewin, Daily Mail)
Alien Explorations: Bolaji Badejo from the Gold Coast

7'2" is KPH's height without any suit.
a man inside predator is already as high than "intended on screen" alien.

so...

One of the main things in my repaint I had a moment on was the side cheek flap. If you highlight the lips and darken that side it blends almost all the way in. Made a huge difference in the face.

I think it looks fine. The xenos were really tall in Aliens so I think thats what they were going for with height. It wouldnt like right if the big chap were smaller than the warrior imo

...I stand corrected (if the AVP wiki is to be believed). The Predator on the first movie: 7'3". The Alien on the first movie: ~7' 2".The Alien (Xenomorph) - Xenopedia - The Alien vs. Predator Wiki
Jungle Hunter - Xenopedia - The Alien vs. Predator Wiki

Still, a taller Predator just doesn't look 'right' to me. :lol

...you paint look so good. I'm having trouble finding the right paint over here. I'll go look for them over the weekend, otherwise I might have to buy them from eBay. :dunno

Just regular model paint. They have them at all art shops. I even went into micheals and they had the same brand my local shop has.
