Hey everybody, can't we all just get along?!

We're all here for the same reason. Love of the recent love our obsession is now receiving.

Sure, the names help separate the aliens for easier convos ("big chap" vs. "Warrior" = clear understanding in most cases). And sure, they may not "matter" in a pure sense. But the argument here is hard-core literal applications to generalized ones. Both sides have legit claims and name calling seems a bit of an overreaction here.

And hey, try not to bash the video game names until we get to see their backstories. The boiler, for example is something I initially hated. HATED. But then you hear a little backstory (the old and dying aliens that can no longer contribute to the hive sacrificing themselves in combat) and its not as dumb. Lets give em a chance (at least until tomorrow!)

The 'Marines vs Warriors' 2 packs will include:

New heads for the marines with different expressions and helmets, more accessories and the battle damaged Aliens.

Also, we may get sentry guns later on. I think a while back they said we may get eggs, too.

Well alright. Did they happen to include any info on release dates of the two packs?

Sorry guys but I've got to chime in on this "Xenomorph" nonsense. The Alien is called the Alien, not a Xenomorph. Xenomorph was used in the movie Aliens as a generic term for an alien life form, not the name of the species which in fact has never ever been named.

Somehow "Xenomorph" has been picked up in the lexicon of the internet over the years and really gets on my **** :)

Xenomorph was a name made up to describe specifically what Ripley described in her report.

Xeno = foreign/alien

Morph = Something that changes shape ie the alien's life cycle from facehugger to adult.

It's not an official name for the creature, nor is it a universal name for all ET's. It's just a simple "scientific" name made up by Gorman or one of the higher-ups to describe the creature Ripley encountered.

The new aliens look fantastic!
And with the announcement of the queen and some Alien love, this year is just full of win!
Go NECA!

:exactly::exactly::exactly::exactly::exactly::hi5:

Now I hope the rumored Kenner rehashes are modernized NECA resculpts. I would love to see a new gorilla or cougar Alien. :pray:

Gorman says a possible xenomorph may be involved to which Hicks says its a bug hunt.

I never took that as the name given to what Ripley encountered just another expression for an alien life form the USCM have encountered and dealt with with extreme prejudice - LOL. Obviously they never encounted a xenomorph like this species though and they get there butts handed to them.

By "It's a bug hunt", I'm pretty sure Hicks is referring to a situation where little information is known, and it's not really anything important. Like hunting for a bug.

Remember all they know is that they've lost contact with the colony. I'm guessing Hicks just thinks it's a "down transmitter" or something. So he immediately writes it off as a "bug hunt", or exaggerated/insignificant mission.

And we know they're not familiar with the term "Xenomorph" because Frost replies, "Excuse me sir, a...a what?"

Bug hunt = Hicks and the rest of the crew's term

Xenomorph = Gorman, a higher ups term

same wording for an alien species, not specifically what Ripley encountered in Alien

Just my opinion, I never accepted xenomorph as the exclusive title/name given to the species the franchise was built around. Again, just my opinion :)

I swear we had the Xenomorph meaning argument 100 pages back. In fact I know we did; I was a part of it. :lol :yess:

I guess that could be the meaning. Until something official is given, I'm sticking with mine though.

I absolutely hate the idea of there being aliens currently discovered by humans that pose a threat worthy enough for the USCM. Ruins so much of the mystery and danger of the...alien aliens IMO.

I like to think of the Alien franchise as being the complete opposite of say, Star Wars. You know, a few hundred surveyed planets and nothing larger or more advanced than a squirrel found.

Then you have the Xenos/aliens/whateverwe'recallingthem. A terrifying and deadly nightmare like nothing we've ever encountered.
