Given that Ridley Scott used his kids in place of the actors in the Space Jockey scene to make the Jockey appear twice as big, if they did think no one would notice, they pretty much insulted their core audience. Although I'd say they did anyway with everything else that made no sense. This scene in particular irked me.
Apologies for the rant.

can alien 3 be called an alien movie if the only alien it contained was a facehugger?
because that brown pile of cancer guts was actually just a pumpkinhead demon suit stolen from Winston studio by two thiefs who hated original alien design too much

1) stealing a creature from another movie
2) turning an alien's design into flesh/guts design
3) saying that this is much better than original design
take your pick because all three happened when those two morons decided they could do something by themselves.

and don't get me wrong, Neca alien 3 is easily my favourite toy alien today! i don't even know how they managed to put so much detail into it, especially when their marines, terminators and predators look like made 10 years ago.

in Alien '79 movie Kane never found any engineer bodies.
he found the space jockey, a (once) living creature with mouth & teeth & eyes, not some cosplayer in a helmet.
Space Jockey was an engineer, it's just that Shaw called them this way in Prometheus. I haven't read the book the movie was based on, but I doubt they're different species.

I have to agree with you. I felt the same way when I put together John Matrix and Ultimate T-800. How can anyone say they're the same individual on the same scale?! (nevermind the articulation design)
space jockey was an unknown non-humanoid creature transporting alien eggs, engineer was a human creature - remember the fancy DNA discussion - in a helmet looking like a customized motorcycle helmet.

I think you are right. Once SDCC dies down they will be free to discuss their plans for the rest of the year and the start of next year given their reveals at said SDCC. I am hoping the main reason they cannot say anything about Newt at the moment is at their SDCC panel they are going to reveal a new Newt that is coming in another variation, be it with Bomber Jacket Ripley or another way.
Come to think of it, with the SDCC Newt, did they show her with the Casey Doll head ?

Another thing, on the last twitter Q and A someone asked if the Flying Queen from the Kenner line comics would be possible, and instead of outright saying no Randy said anything is possible. Not a yes, but not an outright no either. Gives me hope for her and possibly a neca version of the King.
Yea, it sounds like he's got a plan for getting us Newt and earlier today he made it seem like the Loot Crate exclusive GITD eggs might be available to us down the road. They just don't want to talk about their plans until after the SDCC because of the exclusive Newt being tied to the Con. I imagine if they revealed their plan before the Con to release Newt in bigger numbers the people who run the SDCC might not be happy about that. I can wait, just hoping all who want her can get her without paying scalper prices like I did. I bought one thinking the version Neca gets out later may not have all the accessories the exclusive version came with. Of course I'm also wanting to get another Newt later through them as well.
I have no doubt "anything is possible" regarding any and all creatures. Since they have just about milked their latest 4 screen accurate designs dry (18 figures from 4 molds!) they pretty much have to be ready to get wild and crazy and pull stuff out of their rear end if they expect to keep creatures in every wave. I'm sure they will get quite creative.
