...plan B is not the same as "plan A", plan B involves Newt, not other SDCC exclusives.
Plan B will be revealed AFTER SDCC.
People need to learn patience.

Errr, I'm quite patient. I just don't want to miss the one and only opportunity I might have (short of paying through the nose to scalpers on ebay) merely for not recognising when it is the one and only opportunity.

if so, VLAGAS completely made his point [emoji38]
...that people cannot see the grey shade? They're both CLEARLY different, is just not different in a way most would like, but the Dog Alien was never grey in the movie

Honestly I couldn't care less for the grey one. I only wanted one to do the molten lead. And as for the new paint , it is better than the old one

I still cannot believe this... how is there CLEARLY a difference? CLEARLY is clearly not the word you meant... maybe you meant faintly different?

I'd agree to that, and I'm sure you would too.

Cmon lets be reasonable here. Here are the promo shots:

Clearly different right? Even from crappy low res pics.

Here are the final products

There is no gloss on the Grey versions, that and the colour of the teeth are as distinctive as they get when compared to the brown. But that's it... it's basically just a lighter shade of brown.

Not a single person is buying this figure because they know and want to spend more money to get a slightly lighter shade of the brown dog Alien from Series 3... no fricken way! They think they are going to get something more distinctive as shown in the promo shots, whether it was like that in the movie or not. And that's everything that's wrong with this figure in a nutshell.

There is no way Randy would of allowed this figure to be made if he knew this is the way it would turn out, because he believed there was a separate version whether it was based on the puppet, the suit in the film, or whatever he wanted to make something different as shown in the promo shots.

This is what I got sent from a customer:

"just received the series 8 bundle and you've sent me 2x brown dog aliens, not the grey!
Sure it's just an oversight at your end, please let me know on how to proceed from here."

"Obviously I'll have to get these back to you."

When I was trying to assure him that it was the "grey" versions I got this sent back:

"Here's a pic for your reference"

Made me doubt myself and look like an idiot sending out what they expected to be like the promo images,

but thinking about it there is one absolute "clear difference" and that's the product number on the back of the box...

i see a lighter and a darker brown alien here.

and here is a grey alien which i wanted to purchase - because it doesn't look like ADI's defecation golem but like a creature fitting original A1 landscapes.

so glad i didn't fall for it. might prefer one to another (pseudo grey to full brown), but having both doesn't look sane unless your purpose is to collect every variant.

Quick heads up
Toys r US is having a 15% off sale today, with free shipping over 19.99.
Just ordered creature packs at 16.99 each.

Amazon is is also having a sale today

Shipped out Grey dogs to customers late last week and the first customer to receive theirs i'm already having problems with. Straight off the bat they thought I made a mistake and sent out the Brown version, and truth be told that's fair enough because you'd need a pretty keen eye to actually see the difference on the so called Grey dog.

I don't know what to say guys it's so bad, a complete con atm. This needs to be looked into further and I don't know why no-one else is talking about it?

1) Is this a manufacturing error and a global ****up?
1.5) If not Is it just a bad batch

2) Is this actually how it's supposed to be (not actually grey) and the quality NECA is happy with?
2.5) if so why are the promo pics soo bloody misleading / inaccurate?

and the biggest ?

Why the **** would they release this instead of doing a molten lead version that is actually worth something? They solely didn't release a Lead version because they thought it wouldn't sell and instead they release the same figure for a 4th time with a tiny wash of grey paint on top. Because they think that would sell better (really?) than taking a bit of a risk and adding something valuable to the line?

The only way the Grey dog will sell if it's like this everywhere, is if people are getting conned by the promo images!

I mean look at this, 5 points to the person who can tell which one is the Grey!

And now look at this awesome Molten Lead custom and what could've been...

Nice one Jaklyn, showing up NECA again.

Still hope NECA surprise us at SDCC this year and say they are going to make their own molten lead variant and see how it goes. The idea is awesome and a good reuse of the mould.

If you meant these two below : nope both are actually the Grey Dogs, and this is the problem.

Fair enough about wanting more of a grey version and I quite liked the idea myself but it's just simply executed poorly here and doesn't cut it compared to the promo pics.

Damn now I am worried about ordering a full set of the Alien 3 wave if even the packaging guys would have trouble seeing which warrior is which and I end up with two of the same. Maybe they should of just done a blood splattered variant to make the difference more noticeable ?

NEWBORN – Hands down one of the BEST designs I have seen in the Alien / Predator universe!! The range of facial expressions they were able to capture in that puppet was amazing! From sad to angry I don’t think we have seen its equal to date!! I know many hate the design but I for one thought it was amazing and highly look forward to seeing this in NECA form!

It would be cool if they gave him some unique tooling at least in the face to differentiate him from the other figures he has had. At the very least I hope they make him quite tall. I would gladly pay extra for a grotesque and looming tall Newborn.

It may be the shine from the packaging but does the one of the left have a double jaw or two mouths on the head ?

Your right this is exactly what should of been in Aliens Series 8 to start off with tho. Would look great and be a good reuse, but instead they thought this halfbaked grey dog alien would sell better... whilst selling it at the same time as the original brown version and having already released the Brown in a previous wave...

Saddest thing is that if the Grey dog sales are poor (which at this point they ought to be) than we might never get the molten lead version. This seems to happen a lot with NECA that their better potential figures are only determined to release if their not as good figures sell well first!?

This is a potential problem, Glimpsing over them no you won't really be able to tell the difference however looking closer you will notice a minor difference. Even for me I had to have a good look and make sure I was sending the Grays out, and I'm more than just an average seller I collect these myself and love the franchise as much as the next alien fan.

But what happens when it comes to sellers selling all sorts of different brands and toys, dispatching loads of orders the same day. Are they going to really notice the difference? perhaps not and I reckon people will get sent out the wrong ones, worse is that customers are going to be questioning whether they got the brown even when they get the Grey!

Anyway I'm done moaning about the Grey Dog. Sorry for the rant guys, let's just hope that some batches are better than others.

...I have only seen some pics of the "grey" Dog Alien, and I can't tell from the in-package pic above so I must ask, does the re-released brown Dog have yellow or silver teeth? Also, the original release had a line in some near the front, is that still there?

But one would wonder what kind of Alien would be formed if a facehugger managed to impregnate a grey ?
well there are three possible outcomes:
1) an alien always looks the same, because it was said to be similar to a wasp who puts eggs into a living food source. to get new wasps similar to a basic creature.
2) a retarded Scott variant where a wasp marries the caterpillar, impregnates it and gets hybrid babies. in this case you'd better ask comics drawers, Kenner sculptors and all consumers of that cheap byproduct.
3) an alien unfortunately fitting theories of a person who tries to mix Scott's theory with actual alien look. that alien has an giant grey's male reproduction organ for his head and grey's teeth on his heels (why he would need it is another question).

If you meant these two below : nope both are actually the Grey Dogs, and this is the problem.
in that case could the problem be that you were given brown aliens for grey variants from the beginning? :lol
