I just realized something else with Vasquez, specifically her smart gun. Ever since I got her I've been trying to figure out where that extra bit of cable goes. It looks to me like the factory assembled the arm backwards. Compare your own figure to the pics on the neca website's gallery -

https://necaonline.com/2016/08/closer-look-aliens-series-9-action-figures-vasquez-frost-and-albino/

You can detach the piece that connects the gun to the arm, it's the same fit as the one on her armor. You can flip the arm around, and then the extra cable piece can go behind her and slots in under her shoulder lamp - between her back and the lamp pack.

Yep. I noticed that too. I def got one with the arm backwards relative to the cables. The other one was fine.

I would run the free end of her cables under her chest plate though. In theory, one of the cables should connect to the other side of the hookup for the headset. One disapears behind the plate. In NECAs case they are glued together, so I just stuff them both under the chest plate.

Minus smart gun gear, she looks good.

Is it my imagination or has Vasquez gotten the most attention in this thread out of all the marines made so far? I don't remember Hicks and Hudson getting this level of appreciation.

Once you have her in hand you'll see why

Oh I have her. Got her last week from the ebay store. She's fantastic no doubt. I just wonder is it the higher quality or the character or the gun she's using that seems to be making her the most popular marine figure so far. Maybe it's all of the above.

I don't remember Hicks and Hudson being so enjoyed and I'm thinking it's because they just aren't as good. The initial figures had no helmets, bad paint, wobbly joints. The second set of figures had helmets but still had bad paint, still had wobbly joints and many didn't like the expressions at all. Personally I think the expressions work for the scenes they're based on but I'd still like neutral-face alternatives and for the quality to be on the same level as Vasquez, including having them cast in flesh tones as opposed to painted.

Agreed. Neca doesn't seem to understand this about Hicks and Hudson. They just don't hold up compared to Vasquez's quality. I really hope they revisit them and give us improved versions.

Just figured out what you were talking about with the smart gun arm. I had mine connected up wrong with the wiring all kinds of messed up, I think I have corrected it now, enabling the loose cable to tuck in behind the chestplate at the side.

Oh and my figure also appears to have a stuck right hip joint, that leg won't move forward or back...but other than that she's just fantastic.

Hmm, so the stuck right hip must be a widespread issue then. Weird.

I’d say all of the above. Her gear definitely helps set her apart from the other marines. The Smartgun just looks cooler than the Pulse Rifle! Add the higher quality and you have a great figure.

I actually did pass on series 1 after months of excitement due to poor quality but it was the alien and mostly the paint on it that kept me from buying any of them. After they announced the Queen I did grab a Hudson and the Hicks two pack. Kinda crazy looking at the collection now after being completely turned off from the line.

I did the same with their predators too. I was done with the line after the unmasked city hunter but scrambled once they announced the trophy wall.

:clap why can't Neca do this :slap

How did you put the chest in. Is that a spare Ripley Alien 3 part :horror

No, that's all her. A pretty complete sculpt beneath the shirt and armour. Maybe we'll get a Ultimate Version with all these things removable. Though Randy doesn't seem to want to put out ultimates in the Alien line.

Concussion Gorman and utility uniform could be the same figure. Just need an extra head and a bandoleer of grenades for the final ops battle.

Things get a bit complicated if we want "I'm coming in" Gorman when he had the field jacket, pistol belt, and racal headset.

Actually seeing a good photo of his uniform from when he's in the APC makes me think that may be the best bet, especially if they add the head gear and put all the badges that are on that flight suit on there too.

The options for Burke and Gorman:

Burke in suit:

He could come with a his business card accessory :)

Burke in his camping, off world expedition outfit:

He could come with a pee stained pants accessory for after this scene:

You know what, I know some collectors hate variants with a passion but Gorman in his service uniform would make a pretty good comic con variant or store online variant.

I think its part because she is the first female marine in the line and also that NECA appear to have really gone all out on her to make her really worth the wait. With the flesh tone parts, the smart gun and removable armour, the likeness of the face leaving no room for error as to who she is.......just seems like Vaz is the best human figure NECA have managed to produce in ages. If ever.

It actually gives me hope they will go back and redo Hicks and Hudson and heck maybe even Alien Ripley. The new ways they are doing things will only make a second dip worth it to most people.

As fate would have it, my alien took a shelf dive and the dome cracked... :gah:
Is anybody looking to sell theirs?
I'm not particular about which version...
