Frost's screen appearance was really limited. All his lines together don't go over 1 min. and only one's memorable ("What the hell are we supposed to use man, harsh language?"). His head sculpt looks caricaturish to me. Between this and the painted skin, I think I'll pass. I would go for Drake or Apone, maybe even Gorman though.

...funny considering Drake had probably the same amount of lines and was quickly (not as quickly as Frost though) dispatched, yet everyone would come in their pants if they announce him. Maybe it's the tough guy attitude mixed with the big gun synonymous with Aliens. Easy pass for me :D

I feel that Drake had more presence than Frost. I also associate him with Vasquez, so feel like he had more screen presence even if he was not on screen for as long.

Still love Frost though. But if I had to pick between the 2, I'd pick Drake. The badassery, the connection to Vasquez, how he died, and the smart gun.

Drake at least shot and killed some aliens so he died heroic. I felt they didn't give Frost a chance dying by accident, I think they wanted to emphasize more that they wanted to make the marines more vulnerable by writing in the explosion scene because Frost had all the magazines and explosives but he never got to use them.

That's why his death was meaningless and a waste

Drake really was a big part of the squad and a bad ass. If you listen closely you can hear him chirping and encouraging the Marines to press on during the hive attack. I really hope we eventually get him. Him and Vasquez were the glue IMHO to the squad.

It looks like Toys R Us is getting in the Wal-mart boxed '79 Alien figure. I saw some today on the pegs for $19.99 along with wave 9.

Got my accessory pack delivered from amazon the other day. I'm very pleased with them, more than I expected to be honest. Hopefully the Royal Facehugger and Queen Chestburster aren't too far off.

I wonder when series 11 will be announced? I guess it's a possibility that Lambert could be part of that line?

Well I guess hell has frozen over :rotfl You were so dead set on not opening it before :wink1:

It was other guys who were more strongly making the argument to yahzee. I just nodded my head, it seemed like sound thinking.

But now I'm thinking what's it gonna be worth really? (I actually still haven't opened her) I mean I really can't see a few accessories earning me back what I paid in the first place let alone enough to have made a profit. And since I'm a big Aliens fan what the hell would I want to sell it for. NECA's Aliens and Terminator lines are pretty much the only things I collect now.

If your only looking at keeping it sealed for resale reasons then yes it's probably not worth it - mainly because of the price you've paid.

Here's a couple of my reasons why I'm keeping mine sealed:

1) I just can't justify opening something that I paid £80 for instead of waiting a little and opening a £20 version.

--- Does it even really matter what you do with the sealed Newt? Paying an extra $40 arguably $20 for the Newt in the two-pack isn't alot and once you've got that, it doesn't matter what you do with the sealed one. Keeping it sealed gives you options, including the one of not knowing what to do it---

2) getting the two-pack anyway. Don't need 2 Newts.

---You should probably keep this in mind, if your going to get the two-pack anyway then it's only normal to consider: should I wait and open that version? if you need 2 Newts, if the sdcc accessories are worth it.---

3) I have a sealed and open collection so if I only have 1 then it must be sealed.

--- I know you've said before that you like the look of a sealed collection, if you ever decided to start a sealed collection of just your favourites or just Aliens or just whatever you wanted then you'd already have a start by keeping your Newt sealed.---

4) it would piss off Yahzee

---only joking :p Yahzee's cool---

I think ultimately having Newt sealed is about whether you'd be content anyway with the two-pack version. If you would I don't see much reason to open the sdcc version, unless you really cannot wait.

Look everyone has their own decision and everyone is right in that decision, just be sure of it and don't regret it.

I got an Aliens Ripley today. Probably gonna repaint the head. I was waiting on the Ripley/Newt two pack, but I'm not too keen on the Ripley head sculpt in that set. Now I just need to decide if I want to just get the SDCC Newt on her own or buy the two pack and have a second Ripley I don't need.

Really wish Neca had made the bomber jacket Ripley.

I think thats also a big reason why a lot of fans want Drake despite his limited onscreen time, its that he and Vaz are kind of a couple deal. You see one you have to see the other.

Damn you VLAGAS, damn you to hell. You have reinstated the doubt. Particularly the point about my maybe one day building a sealed collection...

NECA's clamshell packaging is susceptible to cracking with age though. Keeping them sealed is fine, but it can be a bit of a challenge... (Or it might just end up being one more thing to drive you crazy... :rolleyes2)

Lol my pleasure,

in all seriousness though even if it's a miniscule chance that you one day might start a sealed collection and that you'd want Newt to be part of it, then I think you owe it to yourself to atleast wait until you've got the two-pack Newt in hand first.

That's the safe bet. See how you feel then...

The real question you've got to ask yourself is:

If you had the two-pack right now and you had a loose Newt figure sitting on your desk, would we even be having this discussion?

Could you think of one worthy reason to open up that sealed exclusive?

Patience is a virtue my friend, wait for that two-pack first.

I've currently got 2 of the 2 pack on order. So that's 2 Newts, one for the hive scene and one for......maybe the airshaft escape from the Ops battle (this is why I want Ops battle versions of Ripley, Hicks, Vasquez and Gorman). But I also have in mind a Newt to hold onto ''Queen Attack'' Bishop and of course a Newt wearing Hick's helmet. So....for the sake of keeping my SDCC figure sealed am I going to potentially buy a total of 4 Newt/Ripley 2 packs plus some extra Hicks to take his helmet for one of those Newts....

Didn't see that coming... Damn would love to see some pics of your Aliens collection, sounds like you've got it all covered.

So does that mean respectively that you have 4x Hicks, Hudson, Ripley etc. For each of those diorama / scenes?

I was mainly thinking from a point of view that you'd only need 1 or 2 Newts. In your case it's alot harder.

I think it comes down to whether you'd want a clamshell Newt in your possible sealed collection? Because if you ever did it would be hard, pricey and probably not worth thinking about trying to get hold of another.

You know what your doing, just be sure to share pics once you've got it all setup.

Just ordered Vasquez and Frost, I'm not making the same mistake I done with Hicks and Hudson.

Is it possible NECA will re-release Hicks and Hudson but with the flesh injected tone? The original paint-apps put me off from ordering.

I would say there is a good chance of them being re-released and hopefully this time with the flesh injected tone and helmets.

It sure sounds like NECA is seriously considering it. Randy has said as much on Twitter. I really hope we get ultimate versions, flesh injected, removable helmets and alternate Racal head for Hicks.

Well that's the funny thing, up until the Newt figure I hadn't actually given much thought to setting up multiple scenes concurrently with the Aliens line, not like I do with Terminator - perhaps because until Newt I never believed they'd go all that deep into the movies. Now it seems they're going to go deeper with the Alien franchise than they will with Terminator.

My display isn't currently much to shout about. It's pretty much just the hive scene from Aliens and the rest of the NECA Alien line displayed with no other particular scenes in mind off to the side.

So no, at the moment I don't have multiple Hicks, Hudson etc. I'm waiting and hoping for NECA to make each version for these different scenes.

Well they mentioned the possibility of flesh-injected (if that's the terminology NECA is going with then I guess I will too) but it wasn't confirmed as certain. I hope it is because it is quite simply better IMO. An alternate head with headset is apparently unlikely though - Randy said any new sculpting would mean a significant delay and people want a rerelease now.
