NECA: Alien Movie Franchise Figures

Thought I'd share this...

So last year, I was somewhere when I heard some random person say "hey, did you hear about Alien con? It's going on this weekend." So, I looked it up and saw that it was some kind of extraterrestrial convention and Carrie Henn, Ricco Ross, and Tom Skerritt were guests! Stopped whatever the hell I was doing, went home and grabbed the Neca's, and went to the show.



Unfortunately, I couldn't find Dallas (lost toys...story of my life). So I had to settle on getting my Blu-ray signed, haha.

Maybe just settle for a small scale model she can hold in her hands

Finally got my Ripley/Newt set - it could look worse, I reasonably lucked out. There's some teeth painted onto her lower lip but I think I could fix that myself even with my very limited skills. There's a tiny bit of white bleed onto her lower eyelid. My Newt looks OK apart from one of her eyes looking upwards while the other is looking straight. It all sounds worse than it actually looks in person.

Overall, perhaps not inordinately bad as I had feared from those macro shots. This is within normal NECA parameters - unless I got lucky. (I didn't get lucky with Frost. Still want another shot at him)

I am still debating whether to get her or not and it all comes down to how bad I want Newt in the collection. As mentioned before the set costs up to nearly 90.00 AU in most comic book and video game stores over here in Australia, so it is quite a bit of pocket change.

Curious as to what everyone thinks we may get this year for Alien Day ? Or what you hope we will get ? My hopes are for -

1. The Aliens Ripley Reebok sneakers back, this time on a much bigger run.

2. Burke or Gorman announced by Neca as the day exclusive.

3. Alien Queen reissue with bonus hive / egg sack addition.

4. tee fury special edition shirts.

5. Fox announcing a colonial marines film set in the ALIENS time period.

Reebok won't happen, will piss off those who paid thru the arse to get a pair.

Burke/Gorman more than likely end up as SDCC exclusives so back to ebay for those (again)

CM movie would probably more than likely suck. Without an "alien" thing to tie in I think there is a huge limited audience for a movie JUST about the USCM, especially when the core (no pun intended) characters would not be involved. No Hicks, Hudson, Apone, Drake, Vaz, etc. Now if the age of spinoffs which is rampant NOW was the case in 1986, by 1988 you could have easily seen a prequel non-alien related USCM stand alone movie with those characters, perhaps the story of Frost's male octurian poon could be dramatized! Nowdays there is such a limited market for something like that, even I wouldn't be interested.

Damn. I'd be pretty pissed with myself that I couldn't find my Dallas figure to get signed. What was he like? He's definitely my favourite character from the first film. So laidback, so awesome.

last year at comicpalooza while waiting in the 'speed pass' :eyeroll: line for Sigourney's autograph I met a guy who had a dvd set of the films (think he said it was a UK import version) which the xeno head was the case. He managed over the years to get all cast members to sign the dome, including Skerrit, Holm, and Hurt which is impressive. He even had Giger's signature which was the ultimate icing imho. That day he got Paxton, Henn, Biehn and Sigourney's autos to complete it. Pretty much managed to get all the key characters to sign it.

According to a tweet they are considering rereleasing the Alien Queen due to apparent demand. Maybe I'd go ahead and buy another, one for the hive and one to fight the Powerloader.

Damn was that very recent ? Just gotten so used to Randy saying that two releases was enough. Granted one was an apparently unpopular repaint but still. Makes me wonder if they will still though do anything different with this one even if it would be basically the dark blue original.
