Actually like the colouring of this SDCC one but again I am glad its not an essential marine or human character like Newt, who we eventually got anyway down the road in the Aliens two pack. I am sure the same case will be this one will be made available in some form at retail as well.

Yeah this is perfect, for a huge fan may fork over the money. But for me easy pass for the 60-80$ eBay buy . Kind of like the jungle demon predator, very cool but for 24$

Bought a nice piece. I really love this figure. The articulation is wonderful and the shiny dome looks damn good. It stands really good... no suicidal jump from the shelf like my other alien warriors ^^.

RE: The SDCC Sewer Alien.



Well.. yeah, disappointing. Although I'm getting less surprised each time. It's not actually a Kenner, technically, and for a "rainbow" Alien I think it might be the most agreeable so far, the colour highlights the sculpt.

As an item, it actually looks pretty nice in package, the colours compliment well, and the brick wall backing is a nice touch. But, I wish it was a movie canon figure.

So they follow up last years incredible Newt exclusive with another color of the rainbow warrior. Im incredibly dissapointed. Somebody please smack me up side the head two times for joining the neca club! What's the year end exclusive going to be? Another freakin skittles alien no doubt!

I'm feeling this too. First the Alien Day, now SDCC.. It's really stretching my commitment to the program. The end-year bonus will be the final straw. It better not be something goofy.

Yeah, got to say the TMNT connection bugs me. I feel like TMNT fans have already got a lot. And Alien fans have had our exclusive hijacked.

I am glad for them, sure, if they are indeed actually glad. But are they? It's seems a bit of a stretch to me. Obviously TMNT couldn't depict their Pizza Monsters exactly like Aliens, even it's they're clearly inspired by them, for the obvious copyright issues. But I wonder if TMNT fans will mind that the Neca figure doesn't look like the TMNT creature, for the same reason.

I feel like this is being celebrated as a homage, but a true homage is done in good faith surely, and not just as attempt at a clever repaint. If Neca wanted, they could sculpt an accurate Pizza monster, but they don't for the reasons we all know. So instead we have a wasted Alien exclusive, and does it really satisfy either fandom? I don't think so.

This is definitely the best mentality to take, unfortunately for me, I got suckered into the Alien Club. More fool me I guess.


All in all it's turning out to be a rough year for Alien fans.

Film was disappointing overall. Ridley's done a Hot Toys on the franchise and won't let anyone else have a go, whilst 'cranking out' sub-par story.

He also screwed Neca over threefold. First by changing the designs, second by moving the film release up, so there was no chance at resculpting, if there ever was. And third by making a movie that doesn't inspire you to want to own figures commemorating it.

Neca made good figures, but they're tainted by not being accurate to movie. Totally not their fault. But annoying for collectors. They'll be excellent "concept" figures effectively.

And then of course, the Alien Day and SDCC figures.

And speaking of Hot Toys, if they ever release it, we're getting a disappointing likeness and a goofy cat.



I should say, for everything, Neca has also been the best part of the year for Alien fans, for their movie figures. So that is one thing to be thankful for.

Again, I'm indifferent about this Sewer Mutation exclusive but I think you raise great points about it and also regarding Covenant and NECA's line for the film.

According to Randy on twitter we're getting another Aliens wave next though. I assume it's not just repaints - the second half of the year may yet give us some good stuff from NECA. From Hot Toys? Forget about it.

Yeah, nice post, and I also agree again with a-dev about the Sewer dude.

At this point, all I want from Alien Neca is an ultimate of sort Big Chap, the bambi, and the Resurrection wave, that's it.

What they should have done was made a K-Series Alien from the "AvP: Extinction" game by using an the updated "Aliens" Warrior sculpt and used the yellow coloration. That way we could have a video game based Xeno and it could double as the TMNT creature if so desired.

But now we have a sculpt of one of the worst Xeno designs painted yellow so it can say "Sewer Mutation" on the packaging, so it can pair with a TMNT boxed set of figures that I can't reasonably obtain or afford. Money saved, I suppose.

Now that you brought up that game, I temember them having some very cool designs. I have to admit that I prefer those Xenomorph designs over those seen in Aliens C.M.
Their niche made sense.

As an alien/aliens fan I'm happy with SDCC exclusive.
Think about it.
Are you interested in paying scalpers to get yet another movie related exclusive figure? It is regrettable that we haven't seen anything A2/A3/A4 just yet, but in retrospect it is sooo much better this way.

The horror. Someone should create a pic-only blog (or thread) consisting entirely of NECA lemons. A digital version of that lab scene in Alien Resurrection, if you will. The horror.
