I review of Wave 2 has surfaced on the web. It's fairly light on description but has some fresh pictures of the figures to look over. Still can't decide if Dr. Zaius is an improvement.

Great review Protozaius, I'm glad to see Ursus has some height to him, and the New Zaius doesn't look bad at all... With them side by side the old ones head is HUGE!!!! Can't wait to get mine!

Ergh...can't order these online--my husband gets to mailbox before me...and I really need to curb my spending. Must sneak to TRU instead and hope they have them there. Anyway, I think the new Zaius in 2nd wave is a bit pasty...his hair is too light for me. Maybe it would be better if it were darker. I will be getting all of these...and two of Zira since I am going to make a mini-me.

Ahh, a Lil' Jess. You should sew her to your shoulder and let her ride along with you on all of your adventures. Reminds me of the Lil' Penny (Hardaway) commercials.

I am glad that we get different head sculpt with each outfit. The ability to mix and match certainly adds variety. I will be getting a few of each. It will be interesting to see which gorilla sculpt will look on the general's torso.

Ursus looks FANTASTIC...and it's probably going to be the toughest one to find in the store.

Also....has there been any word on when that Gorilla two-pack exclusive for TRU is supposed to hit?

Dang, it's exciting to be hunting for Ape figures again!

Here are some shots with Ursus and the new Zaius, I think the Zaius looks like the other council member in the 1st movie that quizzes Taylor about there articles of faith. Sorry I can't remember the actors name. My two pack gorillas arrive Monday, and I will post some pics of those too. I'm glad Dr.Z's sculpt is different. Also, the General looks great in the 5 shot, group shot. CrueLeader, does the General's helmet come off, or do you think it could with enough force? Also, no idea about wave 3, but I would believe it will be during the 1st quarter of 2015.

The helmet looks to be separate from the head , you may be able to pry it off , If you were able to get it off you would probably have to sculpt the top of the head and repaint for a no helmet look.

My 2 pack of gorillas should be here tomorrow. I'll post pictures as soon as they arrive. In regards to future releases, I think I read somewhere that NECA would be offering a 3 pack of the gorillas from the TV series.

Does anyone know what the longest series NECA has produced. I guess I am trying to figure out if there is a chance this classic series could exceed series 3?

It would be great if it went at least 6 series.

Zira's paint apps are troubling me. It looks like she has blue/gray eyes. CLEARLY, Zira had brown eyes... there is PLENTY of close ups of Zira in these films for reference material!

There can be only ONE Bright Eyes!

Could the one you're thinking of be Maximus, the Minister of Animal Affairs (as portrayed by Woodrow Parfrey)? That's who the "new" Zauis looks a bit like to me...and hey, if NECA wants to produce the whole Ape Council, that's okay with me (I know....I'm dreaming)

The one who quizzes Taylor about the articles of faith was Dr. Honorius, the prosecutor, played by James Daly. I seem to remember Maximus played by Woodrow Parfey being strangly silent during the adhoc tribunal having only a few lines.

For some reason several pictures of Dr. Honorius to get mistaken/mislabeled for Dr. Zaius.

Got my three 2 packs today. first impression, the box looks great and seems heavy. On the back is the end scene with Taylor on his knees in front of Lady Liberty. There is also pictures of the first 2 waves. The brown faced gorilla looks great and his features pop more than the dark faced gorilla. The new rifle is very nice and looks great because it is brown and stands out. The bayonet is also very nice. I also noticed that the hole where the rifle's cartridge goes has been mostly filled in, so no more empty slot. The man catchers fit snuggly in the hands and work very well. All we need now are some bone whistles. I cut and separated the pointer fingers so they will fit better in the machine gun and rifle. Although the backpacks are removable be very careful with the waist band so as not to cause it to unclasp. I had to glue mine back together, it was easy though. I put a bandolier under the backpack and I felt that it didn't look right, they look better without bandoliers, maybe that is why Neca did not include them. If you put them on the first wave gorilla as I have done, you will have an extra bandolier to put on the 2 pack gorillas. I am glad to have picked up these gorillas and am wanting to already open the other figures to keep mixing and matching. I look forward to hearing other collectors reviews. Will be ordering wave 2 soon as my army desperately needs a general.
