:lol omg...whats the point of buying a figure and have to repaint it because it sucks? Not everybody has painting skills.

Guess HT vs Neca is the never ending discusion, maybe we need a poll.
i've had several of my HT figures professionally repainted and customized because of qc issues.
their figures are almost never perfect out of the box either. in fact, ALL of my HT preds have had paint and/or dreadlock mods.

Repainting things isn't hard. I bet if you tried you'd end up doing a pretty good job, just like most other people who repaint things.

The HT version owns in the paint job, I'll give it that (and I hope the prototype's paint is as good as the soon-to-be-released final product's), but the headsculpt looks nothing like it did in the movie.

I have tons of Neca Figures and Hot Toys, so I'm not biased at all. NECA is good for action figures but Hot toys figures are just way better and look more impressive. Even if Neca's sculpt are better the figure itself is nowhere near hot toys quality. And Frankly it shouldn't be.

Personally, for the price, I'd rather get 10 NECA Berserker figures. Or 5 masked and 5 unmasked if ya wanna get technical. Plus I was never into 12" scale figures.

I'm sure one of those 10 figures would have a nice paint, or I'd have 10 tries to get it right!:yess:

Even if Neca's sculpt are better....

In my experience of these debates no one in favour of the HT figure ever concedes the possibility...let alone any actuality...of this being the case. Thats the only thing that bugs me. "HT is high end and it costs more money therefore it is better"

If people objectively look at the sculpts and still think the HT figure is better or that the NECA figure is better then there is no argument to be had against that.

:lecture

If NECA made 12" figs and charged the same price HT does, they would rule over everyone. FACT.

Have a nice day.

When it comes to the actual products, I agree that there is no comparison, nor should the two even BE compared. It really is like comparing apples and oranges. But there is no doubt that NECA's sculptors are better, Tankman alone is incredibly passionate about his work and strives for perfect screen accuracy, while Hot Toys' sculptors take much more artistic freedom with their work.

That said, I want to see a collaberation project between NECA and Hot Toys. Can you imagine a HT Pred, with sculpting done by Tankman? :drool

I don't know if I want to imagine that. My brain might explode from the awesomeness. :horror :yess:

But it would convince me to spend over $150 for one 12" figure.

There is no doubt NECA, even SS, have some amazing sculptors. The problem isn't the sculpting the problem is the end product. NECA isn't trying to be a high-end collectible company, so they lax when it comes to production. Remember Kyle isn't running NECA, Randy is. For $15 figure I don't blame them for having some shotty product. SS has no excuse. They consider themselves high-end collectibles and they still don't have people overseas watching what's being produced.
NECA even stated that producing a 12" figure that looked like the 2up would be expensive. NECA's customer base isn't necessarily the same as HT's. I would love NECA to move into higher end collectibles and see if they can give HT/enterbay/SS,etc. a run for their money.

I think they SHOULD be compared especially in relation to Hot Toys price-tag. I mean they are just figures, why not compare them.

IN MY OPINION a great figure should have 3 requirements:

1: a great sculpt (isn't fixable without replacing parts)

2: a great paintjob (is fixable)

3: durable materials

regarding predator figures:

NECA:

1: +

2: -

3: + (these figures could last a lifetime)

HT:

1: +/-

2: +

3: +/-

Is there as much comparison between Neca and Hot Toys on other sites or is it just here?

Certainly if its more than just here I don't think there is a case for ''they shouldn't be compared''...the fact that they are compared, again and again and again, would seem to negate that.

I think they SHOULD be compared especially in relation to Hot Toys price-tag. I mean they are just figures, why not compare them.

The reason why the two can not be compared is because they both fall into different classes.

Here's an example;

While a Ferrari Enzo (HT) and a Chevy Malibu (NECA)are both cars, they both fall into different categories.

One is a highly exclusive (HT) sports car, and the other is your everyday (Neca) family car. While one has gold plating in the engine, the other has airbags.

Is it fair to compare the two? Nope.

Between the 2 cars, what if the overall goal is safety ( figure accuracy)?

Now with Hot Toys and Neca, I would say our overall goal is movie accuracy. (at least it should be)
So, until NECA starts making figures in the same category (High end exclusives)... there's no comparing them even though they are both collectibles.

Was this already posted?

from NECA's twitter:

"Coming this xmas a TRU Exclusive. Classic Alien & Classic P1 Predator in a 2 pack along w trophy skulls of the Alien Warrior & the Predator!"

edit - yes it was, a few pages back, nevermind

Found Falconer and Berserker at my TRU today. Only one of each left. Thank god I ordered the Classic singles when I did, I have a feeling he'll be VERY hard to find at retail.

The paint looks great and the molding is prefect. Even with no others to compare them to, these figures look amazing to me, no problems I can see whatsoever. Much higher quality than the Wolf, and he was great at the time.

I live in Southern California, about 2 hours away from San Diego, so they are working thier way out across the country. Keep your eyes peeled!
