I have a few boxes filled with hasbro star wars figures that I've collected over the past 10 years or so.. even some from the 80s and one from the 70s I think.

I actually don't remember any of them breaking.. I have an 85 (I think) stormtrooper that has some discoloration, but no broken parts..

Also, what about all of those McDonalds toys..

Yeah, I've got 100s of Star wars figures at this point. I actually remember deliberately trying to break some of them for customs and it took quite some effort to achieve.

I don't buy that the classification as a 'collectible' excuses NECA from these QC issues and the pricepoint argument doesn't work either because theres no such problems with Star Wars figures - unless theres some other factors in play here that I'm not thinking of.

$8 Star Wars figures - impervious to damage
$15 NECA figures - will break if touched
$20 Marvel Select - no problems

What a funny little middle-ground NECA occupies there.

I was at a local collectibles store the other day, & noticed that they're now carrying the NECA Alien & Predator figures - good stuff! :yess:

I almost bought the 7" 'Gort' version, but also I spotted the 9" Alien from the first film - & up until recently I've had no good Alien stuff (apart from the films of course), so I grabbed the Alien figure.. which btw looks unbelievable I must say!!

Definitely going to get the Gort next time I'm there, & probably the mask-less 'Predators' classic Predator..

I'm curious why you're so determined to justify and give NECA a free pass for the very same $h!t that I'm pretty sure you recently called McFarlane a 'horrible, horrible company' for. :huh
McF is a horrible company because they were infamous for shipping entire cases of unsellable broken/incomplete merchandise to retailers. repeatedly. NECA has never been anywhere near that bad. you have broken NECA figures because you treat them like toys instead of collectibles. if they were shipped broken in the package, i could understand your problem. but you broke them yourself. so is that NECA's fault, or yours?

articulation is super wack, bought 3 predators and only 1 can cleanly move its arms n legs! sculpt n paint job are great tho

How do you know how I treat my collectibles? You are being incredibly presumptuous. What, attempting to move the arms of an articulated figure is 'treating them like toys'?? Does anyone else agree with that?

I never had problems with McFarlane figures, you did, but I'm not here effectively calling you a liar and a moron about it - as you are with me without actually using those words. In what way do you think my experience with shoddy QC in NECA figures is in some way different to your experience with shoddy QC on McFarlane?

I'm a big supporter of NECA, but what happened with my P2 Elder is pretty ridiculous.
I can find no explanation other than cheap materials being used. How much that is NECA's fault I don't know, but I do know it's not my fault.

I think it's safe to say that there were genuine issues with the plastic used on a percentage of the 2 preds in series 3 - it's really as simple as that.

The sentiment that it's the collectors fault for moving the joints without doing some ritual is totally absurd and kinda insulting as well. But since only one person here seems to feel that way - it's hard to take that viewpoint very seriously.

BTW:
I still like the the figures and will still collect them. They do look great, and if I have to repair them or whatnot, so be it. Just don't see any reason to act like there isn't an issue when there clearly is.

I can't speak for Elder since I don't have him yet but my masked Classic seems to be made of exceptionally brittle plastic even when compared to other NECA figures I own. While he hasn't broke, I can tell just by touching him the arms will break off if I try to repose him without dipping him in hot water again. I've only had one NECA figure break on me, most others I was able to pose without having to dip them in hot water first, and the ones I did dip in hot water, I only had to do it once.

Its puzzling. You see the same thing RE: Hot Toys QC issues. 'My figure is fine, therefore it must be something these people are doing themselves'.

I don't get it. I have experienced the occasional QC issue with Hot Toys, and there are others which I haven't experienced. But I'm not feeling any need to make insinuations about people who do have the problems. :dunno

My repeated assertions that I do not mistreat these collectibles, that articulation demos by youtube reviewers shock me with how rough those guys are with them, have seemed to fall on deaf ears. Watch those youtube guys. Its a miracle their figures aren't falling apart on camera the way they yank at the damn things.

The one positive though is that yeah, despite all this, NECAs sculpts continue to amaze (all the more shame that they break so easily) and pull me back in every time I think for one second about quitting them altogether.

:lol I've seen those you-tube guys, and can honestly say I don't treat my figures like that either. Even my cheap little hasbro figures.

At 40 years old, I don't actually play with any of my toys (unless you count video games). All I do is carefully pose 'em once and put them on a shelf. Might do a repose once in a great while, but that's it. Pretty sure most of us here probably do the same, right? :huh

He's gonna hear what he wants to hear bro, there's not going to be any difference in his standpoint on this, ever. I just think it's funny to see him holding on even when everyone else disagrees with him :lol

sorry but, this is complete bs

specially when you talk about people that collect Sideshow and HT,
i really cant see people here treating the preds like 5 year olds

i was lucky with Elder, he is perfect condition, but NECA is having problems, and sadly they might become like Mcfarlane if this keeps up

I hear you mate. I've watched a ton of those videos too, & they are rough with them. Lots of the more careful reviewers also mention breakages, so go figure. :lol

Not a newsflash by any means, but I guess it's as some earlier posters mentioned - the plastic used for any given run, & just the luck of the draw. I'm fairly new to the Alien / Predator lines, but I remember spotting a 9" Aliens figure at a local toy shop a little while back.. & the leg was actually broken off INSIDE the box. What was worse, was that the store had it on their pegs as if there was no problem. Talk about negligent..

I'm going to get the Gort Predator soon, so I hope that one's got minimal issues..

I bought and returned 3 Warrior Aliens because their damn arms kept falling off. Seriously. I told the lady, she exchanged, I took it out to the car, opened it, moved the arm...snap. So I took it back, told her, and then opened it up in the store, mearly turned the arm, and snap.

So we finally found one that worked, and I got that. 3 ____ING ALIENS.

The problem with McF was the brittle plastic for the accessories. But for the most part, I never had many issues.

And if your figure has THAT much articulation, it SHOULD be played with...in the sense it should stand up to frequent posing.

My NECA Freddy is perfectly fine. Not one single problem. So I dont know what's going on here.
