"Chappie's a god damn robot!"

That definitely looks more like their ages today.

But dammit Hicks shouldn't have most of that scarring - not unless something else happened after the last time we saw him.
It doesn't even look like scarring. It just looks like the left side of his face is 50 years older than the right.

Oh man I'm already starting to see his generic videogame designer tech design....
That is exactly what I thought. This is such a cool concept, and it would be amazing to see Ripley and Hicks again, but this guy should not be the one doing it.

The released illustrations were done free by illustrators who wanted to work with Blompkamp, for the actual movie he hired the usuals Aaron Beck, Greg Broadmore, Christian Pierce, i heard he's also asked Ron Cobb and Syd Mead.

As always it will look great, but directed and written like ****.

That would fit with the brief outline I posted. Ripley could be late 40's, Hicks in his mid-50's and Newt around her mid-20's. The one in the middle could be Frost's relative as rumoured, he looks like Ricco Ross.

He wasn't even hit in the eye with it, he went overboard with the scarring. When he does get hit, IIRC it's only to his chest and arm... and then the next scene his face is burned.

I kind of got the feeling that the acid would continue to burn away at the tissue, if you went back and looked at Drake an hour later he may have been melted back to the skeleton around where he was hit. So if you were hit in an inch diameter it may end up burning 3 or 4 inches in diameter before the acid has thinned out enough to have been neutralized.

That's a fair point. I just found it weird it basically crawled up and burned his face. It is what it is regardless, since he ends up getting bandaged up.

I do think they've gone overboard with the scarring....the ADI makeup test did the same thing. I don't have it to hand but there was a B&W pic of Ripley and Hicks leaving the elevator, Hicks has his arm around Ripley as she's helping him out....the acid burn wasn't anywhere near as bad as that shown by Blomkamp and ADI. But they want the dramatic effect I guess.

That melted face look lame, not badass.
Have yet to see the actual result but he needs to be scarred ala John Connor or Platoon Sgt Barnes.
More than connor but you get the idea.

I do remember that shot in the film. Yeah it looks bad there, but no where near what is shown in this artwork. It could be a cool scar, and not the Two-Face look.

We'll just have to wait and see how they develop the look of Hicks, personally I feel that getting a good script is far more important than anything else at this time. Hicks' character was never the bad *** of the squad anyway, that was Drake and Vasquez and its their equivalent characters that will require far more imagination and ingenuity to really sell the film to me. Hicks was mister cool, the Steve McQueen of the squad who survived because of this.

I'm not complaining..............:wink1: But 22nd century med-tech and Hicks has a messed up face & what no optical replacement eye or something?

:dunno

Yeah... we can make synthetic humans that mimic human flesh perfectly, but we can't fix some acid burns. That's fanboy-ism for you.
But, to be fair, it started in the comics, so... whatever.
