AvP is a pretty decent movie, with some very nice action sequences and actually great cinematography. Anderson has that, his movies always look great.
Eventually I will watch it though, but the YT videos on it seemed kinda lame, Predators going down like bitches against a samurai sword.
Looking forward to watching them both, i'll let you know about the bluray transfer on AvPR.

Gotta disagree. I always thought his face looked awfully cheap and poorly put together in that scene. The length his mouth & mandibles come out, and the way they move look very robotic and un-predator-like IMO. Just in that scene at least. I really like Wolf's facial design. That's pretty awesome. He's got such a more interested face than the others, since he's missing a mandible and has a messed up eye.
That's actually the weird thing about it Jye, they compressed the blacks, there is no picture information in there, so when you up the brightness you get a big grey picture instead of a big black picture. You really can't see anymore. It's bizarre, have fun!

On a good TV with the levels set right it's not too bad you know.

Just warning you in advance as I think you are a bit of a movie picture/audio tech nerd (like me).
Stupid Fox studio, always ****ing with the Alien franchise, at least I only spent $4.00.

Same can be said for Berserker, great face design but poorly executed on screen. Like has been said many times, film makers just can't seem to repeat the magic of the originals animatronics.
That's what made Stan Winston such a fantastic practical fx builder, not only was his designs breath taking but they still looked and operated that way on set and the finished film.
Yup, I agree. In production stills Mr. Black's head looked really cool, in the film though, it looks like a very poorly CGI'd octopus.Same can be said for Berserker, great face design but poorly executed on screen. Well, he's not wrong regarding AvP. I don't know about the rest of Anderson's movies though. I can't sit through the Resident Evil garbage and the only other films I've seen by him were so awful I've tried to block them from memory.
Sorry man, that's too funny.
AVP1 is a solid film. I remember I saw it in the theater at like 11 at night, and I got stuck in the front row all the way to the right
First time viewing?
Like Snake said, AVP is a solid movie. At the time it took some stick but now the years have past it's a good addition to the franchise, yeah it could have been better but so could many movies.
With AvPR just empty your mind and prepare to be Wolfified!!!
The action scenes in AvP are very well-choreographed and the most original in the franchise IMO.
Scar jumping across the ledge in slo-mo, Scar pretending to be one of the predator statues, then launching that spear into the guy, when he dangles that invisible fishing line thing in the shape of a noose, and that guy walks right into it and is swiftly and silently pulled up by the neck, Scar vs Queen, Celtic vs Grid, etc.
When I was little, though I loved Predator, I was always so disappointed at the 1 on 1 fight with Arnold because of how slow the predator is (due to the suit). When I sat in the theater watching AvP, I sat in amazement thinking "this is how fast a predator should move!".
