I would have liked to see him in a major film again.

I'm not going to write this off completely just yet. That article basically just repeats what we already knew, Prometheus 2 is coming out first. If it happens it was gonna be a few years from now anyway. Blomkamp merely says that he's going to work on something else in the meantime. It may indeed transpire that he himself just gives up on it but he hasn't said that yet.

So, what slikkerias said.

Chappie flopped hard. That's two duds in a row. Fox no longer has faith in Blomkamp and Scott *allegedly* told them to keep him away from the franchise, if they want to progress it properly into the future. Hence the retitling of Prometheus 2 to include the word Alien. To realign it with the original series.

The only person who was keeping this Aliens sequel dream alive via twitter, was Blomkamp. Scott put his foot down and said cancel this or I'm Scott Free.

Allegedly.

Sorry, I know you write 'allegedly' which answers my question. But Is this your theory or do you actually have anything to base this off? Otherwise I personally think it's speculation. The statement is pretty clear: Scott has basically decided to connect Prometheus closer with Alien, it's filming in January and two alien movies coming out at the same time is bad business. It makes perfect sense. That's all we know and everything else is just speculation.
Btw if this had anything to do with Chappie it had been decided long ago and as of last week Alien5 was still in the making so I don't buy that.

That would be disappointing. I loved Chappie. That movie introduced me to my guilty pleasure, Yolandi [emoji14] I feel he could of done it justice.

Rorywan thinks he's in "the biz" and knows all kinds of secret info us general public peasants don't have access to. Just ignore him.

:lol just :lol

Edit: just noticed it's you LarJa, so deleted my post, no way I'm gonna respond to you, you were the teenager with the Prometheus obsession right, with a new name now, ah that explains things. I guess you had to make a name change after the embarrassment you caused. I would recommend you do that more often. Change your name that is. :wave

:lol, yeah feel sorry for Biehn. Blomkamp though has it coming.

You know, in this age of producers not wanting Fassbender to play Steve Jobs because they've never heard of him...
It's just seems so odd, the whole popularity thing.

Biehn voiced my favorite 80s meta bad ass - Rex Colt. It was so good that I'm making a figure of this character.
The man is remembered and appreciated by many oldtimers which is a much greater reward than piles of money.

true, true...

...seems like the almighty Internet declared this one dead already. But dammit let's wait for some official news. Everything they said so far makes perfect sense: Scott > Blomkamp, and two Alien movies can't and shouldn't come out at the same time.
Seems like a lot of people would like to see Blomkamp fail once and for all... Whatever. He gave us D9 and that no one can take away from him.

But I though "Prometheus 2" wasn't going to be an 'Alien' movie?

Oh wait... now it is!

Didn't Ridley Scott say there are going to be "connections to Ripley" in it?

Watch Weaver and Biehn show up in Scott's movie. :lol

What the hell? Did Michael Biehn **** your wife or something? Why so nasty?

As a matter of fact he did...twice! He used the, "I'm a soldier from the future and I'm here to save you" line from the film on my wife. :gah:

Too mean? This film was his comeback project. He hasn't been in any popular movies in a while. I think he just makes straight to DVD films.

I'm not excited about Scott's Alien crap and I wasn't excited about Blompamp's. **** em' both.

Scott's will be a bit more interesting at least. Prometheus was garbage in the script department, but it had some tremendous elements visually.
I know (in my mind anyway) exactly what Blowkamp's version of this universe would have been like. Not interested in the slightest in seeing a fanboy dig up the corpses of some of my favourite characters.

Well, I'm glad that Ripley, Newt and Hicks are still just ashes.

Maybe we'll get to see the ridiculous engineer space Jesus flashback from uncle Ridley, that would get people talking. As soon as I heard about that idea/sequence I wanted to see it. :lol

yeah, me too. :lol

I think he will do it in the sequel. At least it will be interesting.

If you listen carefully...you can hear the sound of Micheal Biehn's career being flushed down the toilet...:Flush

:lol poor Reese.

I actually would like this movie to happen just for him.

As a matter of fact he did...twice! He used the, "I'm a soldier from the future and I'm here to save you" line from the film on my wife. :gah:
:lol at least it wasn't a certain used car salesman.

I loved Chappie despite its huge flaws, I liked Elysium, and I absolutely loved D9, I even liked Die Antwoord since they started out, but Blomkamp wasn't the dude to do justice to Alien imo.

I don't know what's going on, but if this movie is dead, I'm honestly kinda glad.

:lol

Yeah, you can picture exactly what that movie was going to be, and it wouldn't fit Aliens in the slightest.

I loved the concepts in Prometheus, the concepts are solid despite the terrible script, if they can fix that in the next one, great.
