saw another interview with Sharlto Copley he said he only wants to be in movies with him playing characters he wants Hot Toys of. lol he's got the collecting bug if he keeps talking about figures in his interviews, now that he's found out about Hot Toys I wish he'd somehow have HT get Elysium license. We know he will sign off on likeness rights lol

This Is What I Wrote In My Blog.....

ELYSIUM | AfterView® Reaction (No Spoilers)

After Watching a screening last night of ELYSIUM, I confirmed one thing, Neill Blomkamp, the Director is without a doubt, one of the most visual exiting Filmmakers working today, the positioning of the camera, the angles, those just beautiful shots that are an Eye Feast to behold, he clearly shows the difference of the 2 “Worlds” on display, Earth as a future, dying, overpopulated Planet in 2154, basically a slum, with the population surviving at any cost, with only the basic needs at their disposal, what we see is an enhanced “Global Third World Country”, where Nations limits are mixed (USA-MEXICO), creating an amalgamate of cultures, languages, accents, personality, tones to Los Angeles (Not that the city presently lack any those, but on a MAJOR Scale ) where the film is mostly based, On The Other hand we have ELYSIUM, An Orbital station that is only for the Billionaires of The World, a place where Luxury Reigns and Almost immortality is achievable, there is no pollution, no crime, and anything can be repaired or cured.
The citizens of ELYSIUM feel as almost like the Robots that protect & serve them, cold, calculating, even the way they talk and their accents are very motorized & polished, visually Elysium is a combination of Garden of Eden & Beverly Hills, But with The Coldness Of An Industrial Complex at Its Core.
One of the most Cool aspects of the Film Is The Robots, Weapons & Vehicles on The Film, Co-Designed By WETA Something that has become a Blomkamp Stamp, following the great designs shown in District 9. Speaking about following his first mayor picture, here is were the comparisons should stop. we have 2 Sci-Fi Films Tackling Situations That Are Relevant To the Current State of The World, but don't really fully Focus on them, ELYSIUM is A More Conventional Story that follows an universal linear plot of A Hero that wants to travel the Straight life and because of his past and current situations is force to keep his ways, even if his objectives are more in favor of the greater good than the selfishness of the individual, so that core or point A to Z storytelling is not Fully Original, but what surrounds it, the world(s), the balancing of Characters, The Direction, the Special Effects, The Score, The Amazing Photography and Brutal Visceral Moments are what makes it a very Cool and Special Film.
I Was A Fan Of Neill Blomkamp Entering This, And Left The Theater Still Wanting More From A Director, That Is The One To Be Watching In The Years Ahead... Bring On CHAPPIE

So...What Was My
AfterView® Reaction.

---------- ENJOY IT AT THE THEATER (IMAX if Possible) ----------

Funny how at the 1st moment I saw Sharlto Copley in the 1st trailer I was like "I want a figure of him". :lol

Got tix for Elysium Saturday night at the theatre right next door to the Chicago Comic Con in Rosemont, IL. Gonna be a helluva weekend.

just came back from the movie !

Neill Blomkamp needs to make more movies. WOW that was so awesome. I love how he shows tech in he's movies. the visuals are just jawdroping. you cannot tell the difference between real and CGI.
unreal. the soundtrack I am going tomorrow to buy it.

I want more movies from Neill. More and more.

10/10

I've heard some bad things about this movie from critics, it's good to see people are actually enjoying it though. I'll be seeing it on Saturday. Looking forward to it.

It's pretty good, but it doesn't have as much depth as District 9

I honestly didn't like District 9 that much. It was ok, but I've never had a desire to watch it again, I think I might have watched it twice. My main issue with it is I didn't really like the main character in the film which made it hard for me to get into it.

I am excited for Elysium though, I wasn't big on the docu style of D9 and this seems to get rid of all that, which is a big plus for me.

9.5/10. Sharlto Copley steals it for me. I just loved it.

"Oh it's just a flesh wound." :clap

I liked it a lot. Didn't love it. But felt happy about it. So many people are going to hate it. It's a very simple story. very, very, very simple. Hell, it's almost cliche. But that doesn't make a film bad. There was a lot of COOL COOL **** in this movie.

It's like Prometheus, but if Prometheus wasn't messy.

I want to do a longer review. So I did!1111` ITS EPIC

Around the year 2006, there were talks of the Halo film. Like all Halo fans, I was interested, if not ****ING EXCITED. Who would they get to direct it? Oh, Peter Jackson is producing it? Cool....who's directing it...oh....some guy named Neill Blomkamp. Uh. Ok. Why? His short films? Let me check them out....

Ok. Yeah. Get this guy to make Halo.

Flash forward to 2013. GET THIS GUY TO MAKE HALO. Neill's Halo project may have died, but perhaps thankfully so. District 9 is still one of the best science fiction movies I've seen in years. It holds up every single time. It's one of the few movies you could almost call perfect.

How does Elysium, his newest film hold up? Not as good. But does that make it a bad film? Not in any way. It's good. Really good. Just doesn't quite hit where I wanted it too. The film has a very simple story. Which turns a lot of people off who need convolution. But that's OK. because this film isn't like District 9 where it's a more personal tale about racisim and violence. This film is pretty much a summer blockbuster, through and through. But a really, really good one.

The acting is pretty good, Jodi Foster is a bit hammy, but that's s'ok. Ham is good sometimes. Matt Damon is serviceable. But the real star, is Sharlto mutha ****in Coply. The man. Always fun to watch. I'll continue to see every film he's in from here on out.

But I had issues with it. The characters are eh at best. Nothing really too deep. You can see where everything is going, but like I said earlier, that doesn't really make it a bad movie. I still found myself engaged enough to care on a basic level, which was nice.

Now let's get into the real reason why you need to see this film. The effects. Oh my ****. This is world building done right. I will quote the great Rick McCullan, producer of the Prequels "It's so dense, every image has so many things going on." Except this time, it's not done by a hack idiot who made some of the most visually uninteresting films of all time...but I digress...
Neill's Robot fetish is full swing here, and by god, can he do robots. All the robots in this film are astounding pieces of machinery, they look and fell real. Loved them.

Elysium is a pretty amazing looking piece of art it's self. Full of so many rich details and little visual touches that really make it something to look at. My favorite scene in the film is where a character looses his ENTIRE FACE, and they reconstruct it using the magical medical machines. That was impressive. Practical and CGI in perfect unison.

Ooh, got to talk about the guns. Some impressive, body annihilating weapons in this film. I expected nothing less from Mr. Blomkamp. That guy can do exploding people like no one else. Chem-Trail was a particularly badass piece of weaponry.

There is a message in this film. It's pretty obvious. If you can just ya know....not let politics take over your life, and just mearly disagree with the film, you can enjoy it.

It's not a perfect film. Has a small amount of flaws. But it's a solid blockbuster action film done by someone who isn't a hack, and or stupid.

Also, seriously, if they can, get this guy to direct Halo.

How did it compare to some of the other summer blockbuster's? And did it have enough action to keep the typical movie-goer entertained?

Good question.

I liked Pacific Rim better, it was more upbeat and positive which was refreshing. But for a R-Rated blockbuster, it was pretty good. I'd rank it fairly high. I think it's one of the highlights this summer. But sadly, that's not saying much. But that doesn't mean the film is bad in anyway.

if you want a summer rank-

Pacific Rim
Elysium
This is The End
Iron Man 3
The Conjuring
Wolverine
Into Darkness

Man of Steel
World War Z
Hangover III
After Earth
