I watched it just recently. I knew nothing about Jessica Jones beforehand. I enjoyed all the stuff with Kilgrave, less so the other little story arcs.

Watched this last year and while it has flaws, I liked it more than I thought - the highlight for me being David Tennant's Kilgrave portrayal. I don't know if it's because the shows provide us with more screen time for characters (obviously) or if it's down to the actors themselves - but so far Kilgrave has been the most captivating and interesting on-screen villain in the MCU next to Kingpin in DD. The movie villains just don't do it for me. :dunno

Plus he has some sinister lines. "Pick up that coffee, throw it in your face". :lol

Kingpin, Loki, Kilgrave......Pierce...Jeff Bridges...Whiplash..others (?) - that'd be the order I'd place the Marvel villains so far. But y'know what? When the villains are great we complain that the heroes are overshadowed - they can't win.

It was pretty good for 9 episodes. Then went to ****.
Last 4 episodes were damn tedious and the finale felt rushed and anticlimactic.
Simpson's side story felt underdeveloped and abruptly ended.
Also lots and lots of missed opportunities:
1. Why not make Trish the one to defeat Simpson? It was a perfect moment to make her rage and heroic nature to shine...
2. Why not make Kilgrave actually purple for a few episode at the end? There was a build up for that... yet nothing.
3. Why do the whole Luke vs Jessica + setup for Luke's series so late? It messed with the narrative a lot.
4. Why no Daredevil cameo?

etc

Well the show is Jessica Jones not Trish Walker. Trish proved herself to be braver and stepped up to protect Jessica in that moment. I think it would have been extremely unrealistic that Trish could have beaten Simpson considering she had just taken the same drug he had. She wouldn't have been strong enough to defeat him, but it allowed Jessica time to recover and and do just that.

I know nothing about the comics, so can't comment on Kilgrave going purple.

Jessica needed a big battle near the end, so she had to go up against Luke who was the only one strong enough to take her on. I didn't have a problem with this at all.

Why do we need a Daredevil cameo? These are all separate heroes in their own right. I think they were lucky to give Luke so much airtime on this series because he also got 13 episodes of his own on top of that. We will see them all together in Defenders, so I think it is best to leave the cameos to the supporting characters like Claire and Jeri.

I thought it was a tad implausible that Trish (didn't remember the names and thus didn't know who RIDDICK was talking about there) was able to take on Simpson as effectively as she did in that scene.

I do agree though that his story felt abruptly ended.

Without Trish there'd be no Jessica Jones The Hero. Without Jessica constantly savin' Trish and Trish constantly tryin' to push Jessica on heroic path there'd be nothing. Trish was training hard to be physically prepared for what Kilgrave could throw into them and to show Jessica that she doesn't need protection anymore. So when Jessica was injured and couldn't protect her self it'd make perfect sense for Trish to be a superhero for once. There's nothing unrealistic about her overpowerin' Simpson - he loved her and wouldn't harm her too much while she'd release years of rage on his sorry ass. The fact that one throw to the wall was enough to stop her is also inconsistent with how red pills work.

He's the Purple Man.

Also purple David Tennant sounds like the most awesome thing ever. :lol

The issue is that almost everything afterwards was a set up for Luke's series and they should've done it earlier so that it wouldn't mess with the main story.

Luke bein' prominent in Jessica's series is fine because their relationship is a big part of her story in the comics, especially considerin' that they've desided to abandon the whole "former superhero" aspect of her character entirely. Daredevil's cameo could create a sense of continuance between DD and JJ, it made no sense to shove in a DD supporting character without introducin' DD him self.

Well I gather they are going to make Trish become Hellcat in season 2, but I can't imagine how she would be strong enough to actually take on the bad guys. She knows a bit of martial arts, but wouldn't be any close to the skills of Daredevil or Iron Fist. Hopefully they don't give her some super powers, that would be really lame.

When they were developing the series for ABC there was no Trish.
Instead Jones had Carol Danvers as best friend.

I actually wouldn't have any problem with them givin' Trish powers.
She could be Jewel instead of Jessica to compensate for the lack of superheroic stuff.
It'd also be interestin' to have a TV series about a public superhero without secret identity.

Comic-Book Hellcat had a thing with Hellstrom as well. TBH, Jessica Jones could use a Second Season, all things considered. It's Luke Cage that really doesn't need one IMO. TBH, I though that Netflix would give us a darker Phase 2, with Moon Knight, Blade, Ghost Rider & Punisher, and build-up to the Midnight Sons, but it seems we're gonna get more of the same... And I ain't excited about Iron Cry-Baby or LC (can't think of a funny nickname here) getting 13 hours more... I'd love for LC to be replaced by Blade. Or even better, Doctor Voodoo. That'd be kick-ass.

I watched it reasonably recently. He was definitely the best thing about the show...although I'm struggling to remember what happened to Kilgrave...

Presume he will be in the form of JJ PTSD and or flashbacks, but if you think about it and take him completely out of season 1, the show would have been pretty mediocre. I'm thrilled he's back in whatever form it is.

Just in case...

Jessica snapped his neck...

so season 2 is a prequel season? :dunno

Nah, def a sequel.
I just didn't expect them to use his "healing factor" from comix.
It's actually pretty cool, here's hope he'll get his purple skin this time.

Thanks.

He was lethal though, hard to see how they can afford to keep him around unless they do somehow manage to turn him to the side of good.

(I'm unfamiliar with the comics so I have no clue what path his character takes there)
