I may cause trouble with this, but here is an example of the same figure, but from two different companies. Each with their pros and cons :monkey3

So you can see, even with the same character, the individual companies will approach them in different manners. What you prefer is a matter of taste.

Wow the Medicom version looks terrible, isn't the Medicom versions like triple the price of a SS version?

Does Jango/Boba Fett look good in quality in the Medicom, what do they look like standing next to a SS figure?

How many figures is SS gonna make out of these 12 inch star wars figures, because it seems that fans would want just about every character in all the movies, and SS would make lots of money from it?

The mysterious figure, could it be be this guy:

I searched for trying to find a good pic of ANH Vader to try and look for the differences between the movies and I found this very disturbing looking version of Vader.

Anyway I hope we have a Sideshow Darth Vader by the end of the day today.

In A NEW HOPE Old Ben called him Darth. So going by that Lucas should have not given them the Darth title since it actually seemed like a new first name for Anakin in ANH.

True. I do think the whole titles idea was fleshed out more in the prequels and wasn't really thought of during the OT.

On a similar note I noticed the caption on the McQ vader figure that said
"Darth Vader was not originally supposed to wear a facemask. Ralph McQuarrie's concept drawing of Vader boarding the Tantive IV was based on the idea that Vader would fly through space to reach the ship, requiring him to wear a breathing apparatus. The facemask remained and has become a modern-day icon of chilling doom."

With this idea I wonder if GL ever had the idea of Vader's suit being his life support suit after the battle with Obi. Kinda sounds like the idea of their epic battle came later than GL said. Every interview I've seen or read has George stating he new the back story and had it all layed out before writing the script for A New Hope.

Sounds a little like George is stretching the truth and claiming all the glory for large story ideas that originally came from others.

Based on the new clue I'd guess Tarkin... except he always wore grey.

And on he subject of Medicom vs Sideshow Luke, I think the Medicom one is better in every way... except for a few key differences. The headsculpt sucks, the scale is way off, and it costs an arm and a leg. The body and outfit are far better if you ask me. I wouldn't buy either of them though. The Sideshow headsculpt while looking like the actor has a rediculous expression.

When will this be announced? I thought Spooktacular was over 10-31-07??

Guys,I really think this is the big one. We're going to get our Vader.

This is over at the Rebelscum front page......

Sideshow Spooktacular: Be Ready!

Don't ask us why, but we've got the feeling there's going to be a special pre-order some time tomorrow, and it might just be a Star Wars figure. Sure, it could be something from Sideshow's The Dead line, but we can't be 100% sure.

If they do a PPO tomorrow , and it is Vader, I think there are going to be a few disappointed people if they miss out.

I think that the Rebelscum thing was posted last night. So, the tomorrow that they are referring to is today.

I wonder if the clue is comands so I'm gonna guess Comander Skywalker in Hoth gear or Comander Cody, I'd be happy with either... but that first clue does make me think Yoda!

Where's Pixletwin at? I wanna take out my disappointment in this announcement by kicking him in the short and curlies. :monkey1

;)

Seriously, though... who in the heck is going to be excited at all about this figure???

For an Imperial Officer, he looks really cool. And I'm going to order him because although I am disappointed it isn't Vader, I don't want my disappointment to cloud my feelings about what could be a very nice addition to my Star Wars shelf. But "awesome?" Hrm. Random officers really aren't "awesome."

On second thought, my total on this would come to $72.00. $72.00 for this guy? Nah. Pass.
