Same here.. I found it hard to search for this thing actually. So I had no choice but, to order from HS. They where cheaper then RJ so it worked out in the end. I believe that they're all sold out as well.

Yes, unless you know someone in Japan, HS and RJ are seriously the only choices you have. I did some search, the piece is also sold out in most of the Japan retailers.

Not yet...they are changing the packaging for international shipments so that the statue is better protected from potential damage...
I was working on my kit and trying to do some serious internet digging for more shots of Big Chap when I came across some awesome videos of the making of Alien. Did you know that the tendon tissue around the mouth of Big Chap is sliced up condoms?

Thanks Silent, I've got the book but never seen those before. Good stuff.
No pics yet of my progress. I'm still removing the seamlines from the parts. It's a slow process I only get time to do between projects when I take a day off for personal stuff.
I did some hardcore, deep drilling into the internet the other night for reference pics and found stuff I've never seen before. I think I finally have all I need to do this guy justice.

After watching those videos, I'm insanely tempted to do a radical repose operation on this guy to put him in this pose. I think it just captures the pure Giger "WTF is it really" quality, as well as a kind of gothic spiritual tone reflecting the nature of Giger's vision.
I have to seriously consider this one. This would be a pain in the ass to do though, and I probably won't do the tail in front.

No don't do that -- not to the Sano...if I were you, just use it for reference and sculpt a new one =)
Anyway - I just rec'd my Sano case =)
I took a pick just of the base but there's something up with my camera...my phone's on the fritz, I can't seem to transfer anything off it ...
Anyway -- the base isn't acrylic...it's actually resin and is a nice flat black, manufactured in 2 layers - the top layer acting as a bevel to the clear acrylic case which is typical, plus as a footprint for the statue...
I'm excited about getting this alien as soon as they ship it....=)

Nathan, those videos are so awesome!!! It's amazing how this movie seriously gets better and better every I watch it, think about it, talk about it...
It really does. That's the difference between something made by a group of real artists with a solid, uncomprimising vision, and then the crap Hollywood slams together today that I don't care about when I leave the theater.
Hopefully Prometheus will bring back the loving feeling. I have a feeling that it will be so much more in tune with the original feel of Alien that Aliens won't feel right anymore. I don't really have a problem with that though.
