I don't think I've ever said this for a collectible but this belongs in a museum. Breathtaking.

Giger would be proud!

Showed the pics to my GF and she said it looks "alive" and I would also have to agree with that statement. Incredible job bro!

Thanks!

awesome, wish I could have my SS maquette painted like that.

I would love to see one of those painted like this, but I don't even want to go through this much trouble again. The SS maquette is so huge, I can only imagine how much worse it would be.

When do we get the change to see the base?!
Also Nathan,as you've mentioned previously, more pics with various backdrops would not be of refusal!

Here you go.

I've often seen Alien collectibles with silver nails, and it sometimes looks like they may be, but really they are just basically a foggy, white translucent acrylic, so I tried to capture that.

Words can't really describe how great that is..but I'll just say,

Perfect paint application for the perfect Alien statue. :panic:

Very nice work, indeed. :clap:clap:clap It reminds me of one of the suits ready for a paint touch up after a hard days filming.

Real nice work :clap

Have you decided yet how you would paint the base ?

Looking forward to seeing some more pictures with the base then !

My god that is beyond amazing. Well done!!! I wish my Sano was painted even 10% as good as yours. WOW.

Thank you, abake. Regarding the dome, you are neither wrong nor totally right. Trust me, I did my homework. It's already pretty well known that there were multiple suits, and that references regarding coloration are very inconsistant and the dome appearance seems extremely subject to lighting conditions. I've seen pics where the dome looks completely clear, others where it's tinted but still very translucent, some that are totally fogged out so you can't see the skull at all, etc.

My approach to painting my kit was to compile all that I could find, see what was most consistant and what wasn't, and then ultimately to decide what looks I liked the best. The following shots are the ones that convinced me to darken the front of the dome. I thought this created a striking look and helpted with the eyeless mystique. However, I used translucent black on the dome so that in person you can still sorta see the nose and you can still pretty clearly see the eye sockets, especially in direct light.

Love your reference pics!
As I said, my comment about the dome was mostly personal preference, as my favorite look is the slightly fogged up dome.
At any rate, your work is truly phenomenal! :clap

____ing thing looks like it's alive.

I would pay good money for this piece sir. Simply brilliant...

And, wow, what a showoff. And you should be too. :D

That was my goal, so thank you very much for the compliment I was hoping for.

When do we get the change to see the base?!

I hadn't actually planned on doing it til this coming weekend, but I'm going to try to squeeze it in with the rest of the time I've got today.

I misunderstood. Thanks for clarifying. Thanks for the praise.

That's amazing, Surfer. You are uber talented.

Thanks. God has blessed me with a passion for creature movies, an eye for detail, a perfectionist curse, 20 years of model kit building, 3 years of painting experience as a professional, and computers with the internet so I could compile enough reference material to pull this off. Throw all of those together and it adds up to talented. :wink1:

:exactly: Thanks.

I'd have to charge good money to even consider taking on this beast again.

I'm not much for busts. They always make me want to see more of the character, and therefor never satisfy me as display pieces. But, now that I have the whole Alien, I sure wouldn't mind getting the best as well (in kit form though). The only way I wouldn't mind doing that skull detail again is if I could do it in 1/3 scale.

Thank you SS. I've seen this before, but never watched the docs before. I'm gonna load them all up for summer viewing. And I'm gonna rip every image on those pages.

Nostromo has always been my favorite space faring vessel from film ever. :D

Phenomenal! You definitely did your homework -- every wisp of detail weems to be in reference to a picture with a minimum of "guessed" texturing -- based on the number of references that're available at all.
would love to see this next to some of it's "stock" brethren!

I'd love for them to recreate these in a pvc (nonpthalate of course) and in different "decos" including Costume/Prop accurate!

Here you go.

You're welcome. Outside of Star Wars, I'd agree with that. Kind of in the same visual class as a Star Destroyer to me, but not a war ship.

:exactly: I'm happy a few of you are familiar enough with the existing references to recognize that.
