So maybe I missed this but BBTS has this on preorder right now for $149.99. If people are speculating that the price is going to be higher because of the DX and the second sculpt and possible second full outfit are they going to end up changing their preorder price or do you think this price is JUST for a single version of the cop joker?

So could anyone explain to me bout the difference between a 2 in 1 superman and this MMS DX?

And the whole pricing speculation? The 2 in 1 superman retailed bout the same price as other single HT figures in my local dealer.

If anything, its conversation and speculations like this that makes the retailers and producers jack up the price.

I don't think retailers are watching this board to gauge pricing.

That said, if a 2-in-1 is the same price as just the single TwoFace figure, I'll feel ripped off on TwoFace. But I doubt I'll have to worry about that.

To me, the whole DX gag just wreaks of 'price hike' anyway.

Brilliant. At least the variants are better than what Mattel made for the Dark Knight Batman figures. I mean, common on, who wants a Batman with a lightning cape? As a kid I NEVER wanted the weird variants. I just wanted Batman that looked like Batman in the movie. Is that too much to ask?

Really, thats all I see it being. Hot Toys cant take that much more of a jump up in quality, but there is always room for a jump in price

It does make me nervous that HT will make this a business model for other wanted figures: Make the first one obsolete (with small inaccuracies) by making a better 'ultimate' DX down the line.

I know a lot of people here won't care, since they'll shell out for anything related to The Joker, but it might not be so 'funny' when it comes to other figures.

This is what I was talking bout earlier, WG.

It won't be long till they releases a better DX, like a 3 pack or a 4 pack figure with better version of the previous 3 and a new costume so that the old fans have no choice but to buy it too, since its a better sculpted ones.

Its this kind of business behaviour that will eventually lead down to disapointment from their core fans. We don't see enterbay re releasing GOD bruce lee with their new skin tech. How many more "joker money" do you wanna milk out of us? Shame on you HT.

not to offend any of you Joker lovers. but i too really enjoyed the movie, only because of the joker, but its because the joker was the best part of the movie that it bores the hell out of me. just the mentioning of the joker and the dark knight now sickens me with how pushed on everything it has become. Batman now reminds me of Harry Potter, bring on the pillow covers.

kind of like how Master Replicas starting handling their SW props. once they got most of the main characters in the movies done, they came up with a "better" version of it that was more accurate.

We are a tough crowd to please. We say we'd love certain parts of an older figure fixed and when it happens, we complain they messed up the first time on purpose. There may be some grounds for that, but I doubt it. You have to remember just how quickly Hot Toys has improved. 2 years ago their headsculpts were very generic looking and now they are right up there with Enterbay in terms of jaw-dropping realism. That is impressive by any measurement. And there are bound to be a few things that fall through the cracks and if they bothing fixing them, we should be greatful.

Remember, this figure was listed as the Police Officer Joker, not Purple Coat Joker Version 2. The fact we are getting a new purple coat/outfit is just a bonus really. It does help sell the Police Officer version to those less hardcore, but it isn't by any means forcing you to buy another purple Joker.

I'm sure many places will be parting this out so if you just want the new purple parts, pick them up loose and save a few buck from buying the figure new. Same for the Cop Outift I'm sure.

I've talked about this before I believe in the other Cop Joker thread. The difference is: BOTH the Superman costume AND the Clark Kent Suit are relatively simple compared to just the v.1 Joker suit. Not only that, neither of the head sculpts (Superman/Clark Kent) compare to even the TDK Bruce Wayne sculpt. Let alone this new Cop Joker regardless of how accurate people think it is. You can't deny the detail makes the two head sculpts from that 2 in 1 pack look inferior.

TDK is more popular than the Superman movie. I think that's common knowledge. Every figure/vehicle HT has put out for this line has sold. So why would they release a figure, that again, will definitely sell out on it's own regardless, with extra stuff if they don't have to!?

I guarantee if HT did what I speculated and released this Cop Joker as is + released a reworked v.1 "Mob Meeting Version" Joker with everything from the v.1 just with a new head sculpt replacement, 2 new sets of hands, the grenade rig set up for the coat and a more accurate trench coat it would sell. Easily.

So why then would HT pack ALL of that into just one release!? Obviously it's possible.. and if they did that would be great. It just doesn't seem likely. They haven't done it since the 2 in 1 Superman. And with the advances in their production I REALLY don't see them doing this now, unless the price reflects it meaning a huge increase.

already. I saw the photo today for the
first time and I love it. It looks spot on
to me. (C'mon, nitpickers, he was only
seen in the movie like this for like, what?
5 seconds? Who cares if his hat says
"Police" and not what it's supposed to?)
Are we getting so spoiled on higher end toys
that we now demand them to breathe or something?
Most of the haters are ticked off because they
don't want to think their Joker figure is obselete
already and will have to shell out more money to
"upgrade". At least Hot Toys is listening to the
fans and giving us what we ask for: grenade coat,
new headsculpts, etc. Would it be better if they just
contacted the people that bought the older figures
and said, "Hey, we've refined how to sculpt/paint/etc.
the Joker head, would you like another one for free?"
Uh, yeah, but come on!

If you don't like it, don't buy it.
If it's too expensive, don't buy it.
Maybe then, the people that really
want one will be able to buy one without
paying jacked-up secondary market prices.

That's the only way I even had a chance to buy
the ones I have, but I love them and I look forward
to adding this one to my collection as well.

Would I like a Gordon, Scarecrow, Ducard, etc.?
Yes, but if they won't/can't make them yet, I'll just
wait until they can.

Admit it, by the time we see "in hand" photos,
we'll all want/have to have one.

You're missing the point...The argument is about genuine worries some of us have about the several hundred dollors we've spent on the likes of Joker v1 etc which could potentially end up as wasted money if HT now decide to revisit these older sculpts under this new MMS series. Admittedly, its all presumption at this point and its good to see HT upping the level, but the frustration of owning a fairly new product which may soon be obsolete is genuine cause for concern...
Yeah HT have improved but the time between Joker v1 and BR was barely a few months, and they were already banging out top class sculpts prior to v1.

I think we are over thinking this and maybe getting way too upset. I understand both side. Yes, these figs are not cheap and an average $150 a pop, it gets very expensive. But on the flip side, we are very hard critics too. When First Joker came out, we complained about the sculpt, the the color of the coat and hands. Hell people was even complaining about his shoes!! Then Hot Toys gave us Bank Robber Joker(which was very clear was to make up for the first Joker head sculpt) in which they gave us a much more better head sculpt plus an extra to replace the v1 head with and gave us his machine gun. Now a new version of the Joker, the Cop version, and that comes with a new, hopefully more accurate coat with fix grenades and new gloved hand sculpts. The way I see is that Hot Toys gave us 3 DIFFERENT versions of Joker (Just like Sideshow making different versions of Luke Skywalker, or Indiana Jones, or Medicom with Medal Gear Solid) and gave us extra accessories to replace to "wrong doings" with Joker v1 at no extra cost. I think that is something that u probably will not see with any other manufacture. I'm pretty sure these Jokers would have came out regardless if the first one was done right or not. These different versions has been on a lot of people wish list for the longest. And last I don't believe anyone of these are making anyone before it "obsolete".

Are you sure? Cuz when I was looking over the original thread announcement/Photo thread for the v.1 I saw nothing but praise on the clothes AND the head sculpt. It wasn't until word of the BR Joker + pics surfacing that I saw people start criticizing the v.1 Joker. Hmmmm..

Are you sure? Cuz when I was looking over the original thread announcement/Photo thread for the v.1 I saw nothing but praise on the clothes AND the head sculpt. It wasn't until word of the BR Joker + pics surfacing that I saw people start criticizing the v.1 Joker. Hmmmm..

Hmmmmm.....yup, lets see... "Coat too dark"...on hands pics were shown "looks almost black in that pic"...... "Shoes is not movie accurate" hell I even believe someone put a youtube video review and mention a couple of the above. So yes, there was some criticism from the get go. People trying to repaint the face to get it more accurate. People going back and forth with "It looks like Heath, It does not look like Heath" And that WAS before the leak pics of BR came out, the complaint became much more when pics of the BR sculpts came out.

Plus I checked out the V1 Joker thread too, 7/25/08 first in hand pics are posted and everyone was for excited for it, same day there is some post about the likeness. On 7/28/08 and u start seeing people questioning the sculpt of his scars, and the color of the coat, the color of the inside lining of the coat and gloves, it's not to 8/25/08 the first Bank Robber Joker thread with the first leaked pics came out.

Well I hope you are right, but sadly the evidence they gave us points towards the other direction.

If they had
wanted to attone and make up for their previous 'obsolete' joker release, they wouldn't have gone through all that trouble launching a new line MMS DX 'deluxe' bull^^^^.

They wouldve just throw in all those extras at the MMS cop joker version; just like what they did with the BR joker and the v1 joker.

They are constantly pushing the envelope on the 12" figure collecting world, but also raising the bar on the price. All they care is money. This hobby deserves a better class of company

Well hopefully we will not see a price hike, until I see what the final outcome is, I'm in for it. But if the other happens, a huge price ($200.00+) then I might reconsider the purchase...maybe. But we all have our opinions and and thoughts about this.
