I think we are over thinking this and maybe getting way too upset. I understand both side. Yes, these figs are not cheap and an average $150 a pop, it gets very expensive. But on the flip side, we are very hard critics too. When First Joker came out, we complained about the sculpt, the the color of the coat and hands. Hell people was even complaining about his shoes!! Then Hot Toys gave us Bank Robber Joker(which was very clear was to make up for the first Joker head sculpt) in which they gave us a much more better head sculpt plus an extra to replace the v1 head with and gave us his machine gun. Now a new version of the Joker, the Cop version, and that comes with a new, hopefully more accurate coat with fix grenades and new gloved hand sculpts. The way I see is that Hot Toys gave us 3 DIFFERENT versions of Joker (Just like Sideshow making different versions of Luke Skywalker, or Indiana Jones, or Medicom with Medal Gear Solid) and gave us extra accessories to replace to "wrong doings" with Joker v1 at no extra cost. I think that is something that u probably will not see with any other manufacture. I'm pretty sure these Jokers would have came out regardless if the first one was done right or not. These different versions has been on a lot of people wish list for the longest. And last I don't believe anyone of these are making anyone before it "obsolete".

Common pal If i've parted with 150 notes for V1 Joker and then, less than 12mnths later they release another Joker in the same outfit, but with a better sculpt, then i'd say that would make my original purchase pretty obsolete dont you think?!
But anyway, thats a redundant argument, as its all presumption on our part that they will re release old figs under the DX label..Lets just enjoy this cool looking figure

I'm betting they are already planning on the next MMS DX fig combo. A new reculpted batman OC and TDK costume with the new 'slim' body and sonar light up headsculpt like mark 3. And cool accesories like the sticky bomb or something.

Oh, they are not making revisiting and improving these characters... They are "variants". Just like a new hope luke, bespin luke jedi luke and so on.

I don't see that happening, and if it does, seems kinda pointless. While there are points for improvement on the OC figure, none of them are such an issue, I think, to warrant another release with the corrections, and I don't see people buying another one for them, and the slim body isn't going to improve the TDK figure, the issue with the existing one is the width of the body relative the head and particularly the shoulders, they'd have to retool the entire construction of the TDK suit for a figure to correct the proportions and that could just be another MMS figure. I don't think with Batman, there's much to be able to sell an MMSDX set in high numbers, maybe another TDK MMS, but not DX.

Don't forget, when they re-release a second version of a character they've already done, it's not aimed specifically at you guys who feel forced into buying everything a company does... it's aimed at the likes of me who didn't get any of the figures the first time round.

There are a lot of people who don't have a joker figure, or a batman figure, and would love to get the chance, not at ebay scalper prices.

There are a lot of people who don't have a joker figure, or a batman figure, and would love to get the chance, not at ebay scalper prices.

Yeah I hear ya, i'd love to have a Gordon, Fox or Alfred but still wouldn't pay much more than $90-$100 for one. I also think that is the reason they will never be made.

I'd bet that a Gordon figure would outsell Hellboy, who I'm sure cost far money to make and produce.

They made friggin Spirit figures, and I'm sure they wished they didn't.

I hope they redo older figures too from other licences...on other boards fans are drooling at the thought that HT might make a newer,accurate,more affordable Corporal Dwayne Hicks.

I don't think so, I really don't, I would like to imagine there are more Hellboy fans than for a Jim Gordon. I would take a Gordon over Hellboy but you know after the first 100-200 fans then what?

Still its not a bad example, Rocky III is still available for $99 so maybe Hellboy will take 6-8 months to sell out. Still i'd have to imagine HT's is always looking for the "big ticketed" characters, the ones that will/should sell out fast.

I also think its a no brainer that they are over taking on the Spirit figure line.

I'm not so sure either, I think Gordon would be a steady seller, but i see hellboy dissapearing quicker than some folks think...

Still i'd have to imagine HT's is always looking for the "big ticketed" characters, the ones that will/should sell out fast.

That's HT's biggest negative. I know they're a business out to make, but they have no balls to take chances on characters who aren't the big ticket from a property, I'd bet half the marines from the ALIENS line wouldn't have been made if their gear didn't help them sell.

Sideshow at least has the balls to offer all sorts of characters, at least with the Star Wars license. I realized it can be a gamble, but for the die hard fans, it would make you look so much better to take a ^^^^ing chance once in awhile. Maybe Gordon would be a peg warmer, but you know what, he'd also be a highlight in the many homes that would snatch him up and people would love Hot Toys and their TDK line all the more. The 3rd Joker is already jading some folks who want more out of the line than the same 2 characters, if you give the die hards everything they want, you can more easily get away with repeats. I'm not saying have Rachel and other background folks, but at the very least Gordon would be a huge plus in the line and make folks devoted to this line all the happier.

Can someone repost the bit where Hot toys said they're giving us an extra grenade-lined purple suit and new hands etc? I didn't read this anywhere. I thought the pic in the original post just had the purple suit joker as a backdrop for show - to make it clearer that this is a Joker figure.

I think that possibly that they sent out a teaser mailing with a swatch of purple fabric and that the Joker figure in the background appears to have some differences from the previous releases. Not to mention the open coat pose which would suggest a bomb coat.

Its all conjecture, but not outside of the HT practice to release upgraded versions of previous figures.

Mind you I'd be all over Gordon too to complete the TDK triumvirate of good guys

man... I've gotta stop collecting hot toys.
Its getting way to expensive. I like a full collection and at this rate I can't keep up with terminator , alien , predator , dark knight , resident evil , hellboy , etc.

I think I'll keep my V1 joker no matter how good this is.
I love the original and nothings going to change that. Either way the cop joker looks great.
