Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I agree the Difference in the signature as originally solicited and the one received is a disappointment. But the really important thing is the figure. Which is awesome.

BCS have done so well thus far and the new stuff coming looks awesome too. Will I buy another signature edition ? Probably.

I will buy direct too to support them.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

You clearly then, have no experience of autographs and how famous people sign them. If you did you would have not made such a short-sighted, at best naive statement, and so obviously exposed your clear pig-ignorance of the subject.

Calling you thick isn't any different than the above. Have at it contacting a mod, I'm just debating the merits of the signature...you're trying to debate my right to even post.. :lol

And again in regards to "move along" it was clearly addressed to discussing or not discussing signatures not the whole thread.

I'm fine with people not agreeing with me on the sig. Its just an opinion.

I'm hoping that Dave and Tom will be doing signature editions, and all being well the rest of the surviving Doctors too.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Hopefully they both care for their fans a bit more and not try to cram the signatures in 5 minutes.

I also hope Dave takes the time for great signatures because the signatures on the 11th doctor are disappointing. I will be direct buying the signature edition for the 10th doctor from big chief since it already looks like it will be the pride of my collection.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I'd be surprised if there are signature versions for Baker and Tennant with them not being currently under contract to the show like Matt and Karen. Scheduling and signing fees could be prohibitive. With Matt and Karen it was a sort of publicity thing being on the current run of the series, right down to Matt being in costume.

Of course, that's all just conjecture on my part.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Tenant is/was a who fan himself so he would understand fans desire and may play ball?

Let's hope.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I am confident that we will see a DT signature edition up for po this month.
I will have my 25 quid ready on the day to put down on it.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Let's hope Tennant and Baker don't read this thread, 'cause why would they sign after reading it?

BTW does anyone know a good website for Disappointing Celebrity Autographs, where those who have received them can support each other?

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

They'd do it because they aren't ADD ridden 20 year olds who can't be bothered to spend more than 5 minutes away from watching a football match to sign a measely 250 plaques with his full attention and eyes on where he's writing. :lol

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

It might not have been the signature you wanted but isn't it comforting knowing that it is Matt Smith did indeed sign it?

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I can't believe so little talk about the angels! I'm not sure if I'm more excited about 10 or them! Did I read that some of their exchangable parts will be exclusives?

I think once we get some clear pics and more info we'll be more excited. I MIGHT be. I didn't hear about exchangeable parts being exclusives. Not sure I like that idea, unless they just mean you get some extra parts if you buy direct from them. I can see them wanting to start incentivizing that way, but they'd really have to be cool for me to spend the extra money. If they could somehow sell direct at US cost to US customers, I'd be more apt to pay the extra shipping cost, though. It was interesting to hear they are more like solid diorama pieces than figures. But it makes sense.

:lol
Cheers. Yeah. I left the forum a few hours ago as the sig thing was getting silly.
The CO Cbermen are quite static with little more articulation than their 5" counterparts. They look good tho. I am thinking if getting some fin grade colored wiring, and adding cable forms between the joints.

The cables just being printed on cloth is probably their biggest downfall (well, and their lack of motion... though that is less problematic as they are Cybermen.) It was good for the price point, but molded soft plastic or something like that would look really good on a BCS version. Their necks are a bit weird too on the CO version.

I'm hoping that Dave and Tom will be doing signature editions, and all being well the rest of the surviving Doctors too.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'm not a huge signature person but if the can get Tom to do it, I'd spring for that version.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

He's bothered to get into costume for a promo photo with the figure, I don't think he was exactly 'half-arsing' it. Have you thought of sending him a book on calligraphy so he can start to develop a signature that's more to your liking?

Doctor Who fans can be great, but sometimes... I once read an interview with the owner of Product Enterprises where he said that a fan had written him a letter telling him he'd ruined his life because he hadn't manufactured the Fourth Doctor 12" figure that he had previously announced.

Honestly, people whose main form of nutrition is breastmilk shouldn't have credit cards.

Oh look, more lazy attempts at character assassination and cheap insults in order to undermine the fact that other people dare to have a different opinion than yours, my aren't you oh so clever... :clap

The funniest thing of all, you've made more posts on this subject than anyone else on this board. Not sure who made you the official minister of signature defenses, but for someone who sees the topic boring and irrelevant you sure do go out of your way to go on and on and on about it whenever someone dare mentions it in any way that you deem unworthy.

Anyway, carry on. As I'm sure you will.

Why people can't just agree to disagree and leave it at that I'll never know.

you know, it'd be nice to see people maintain a little more common politeness online...

if you don't like something, that's fine, but there's no reason to say it in a way that makes everyone else who owns it or likes it to feel like an idiot. (though... "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent"- Eleanor Roosevelt ) There's no reason to get nasty over an action figure. I subscribe to this thread to see pics of BC figures and news along those lines not people squabbling.

I can see why some people would be upset over Matt's signature, it is pretty sparse for something being paid for. Did he sign it, sure. Can't folks just agree to disagree about the signature (and other things?) there's no reason to keep arguing it at this point. you're not going to change each other's minds.

and you don't walk up to someone on the street and tell them their baby is ugly, so why would you go "up to" someone on the internet and tell them their figure (which they obviously like or they wouldn't have bought) is a dog turd? Seriously... so many better things to do out there with your time than argue or insult people on the internet.

I'm going to go back to staring at the awesome 10th doctor figure photos and saving my pennies.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Big Chief needs to save this thread by releasing new photos and information. Prices on the expansion packs, close-up photos of the angels, and a 10th Doctor preorder would do nicely!

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

and also, leave the sig and talk more about how great the figure is so I feel even better about getting one next week!

How dare you, I work hard on my character assassinations...

But seriously, I guess I ought to show more respect to your views, and will try to do so, the criticism just annoyed me because I think we ought to cut BC a bit of slack on something they couldn't do much about. We've no idea what they thought of the sigs, but what were they supposed to do, tell the star of the show that they're building their livelihood around that they weren't happy with his work? I'd also hate for the criticism to put people off signing in future. Finally, I felt that the sigs were not so expensive that it had to be a major problem, even if you didn't like the signatures - you've still got something that passed through Matt's hands and it cost you £20 not £75. Matt's a nice guy and I bet if you wrote to him with your comments he would see the funny side and send you a signature you liked! But that was how I would view it, and I know that your view is equally valid, even if I don't agree with it.

Anyway, I apologise, I've had a bit too much fun with this debate over the last few days, and I promise not to pull your chain again.

You're right Aimee, I meant to just say that I didn't like the figure but that comment got lost on the way from my brain to the keyboard. Dog turd was probably overstating it, and I apologise to whoever it was whose figure I insulted. I should have been more moderate in my criticism.

I've never told a stranger that their baby is ugly, but I have told strangers that they're crap parents, and I guess they must have found it hurtful too.
