These things are too expensive to buy multiples of the same Doctor
Liz10 is back! (...reaches for the vodka)
Let me try and put this in simple English for Liz - you no like expansion packs, you no have to buy them.
Personally I'm in favour of 'freedom of choice', something maybe they don't have in Liz's neck of the woods, for both consumers and companies alike. You have the money, you buy something, you don't have it, tough ****. What's annoying is to have one person broadcasting loudly and incessantly that this company is breaching their human rights by not selling stuff in the way they (and now their dad) wants. Especially as expansion packs are a much discussed idea and it would be great to see someone try it. If it goes **** up, it goes **** up. Let's try it and see.
No, sorry, lets not try it, Liz10 doesn't like the idea. Jesus Christ, this is what living in the common market does to people. They get a sense of entitlement that infantilises them. Maybe it would be better if action figures were produced by Brussels and given to people by the state - you'd have no choice over what you were getting but at least they'd be 'free', so Liz10 would be happy.
Your point about nobody else trying expansion packs, it got me thinking.
Technically, HT have, but, contained as extras in a single or double release.
Indy came with a second costume and backdrop.
Skywalker came as two figures. Not quite the same thing, but we had options. Personally, I used the second Indy costume on a Hasbro Indy.
The expansions packs will allow the individual who enjoys one figure on display to redress it as and when. That's ok. However, thinking of cost, doing a changeable single figure will only incurr purchasing two sets from the list posted by BC, to create each new look.
Now, me, I'd like complete figures. To complete the outfits, I'd have to secure more stuff (already looked around. Doable). I would prefer to see the varients available as complete figures.
Ergo, there are potentially two markets.
BC could, if they wish, offer complete figures unboxed, no extras, but built using the expansion packs to recreate the varients. Everybody wins.
Just wondering why certain people bought 3 or more 11 figures then, they even wear the exact same outfit...money certainly doesn't seem to be a problem for them.

But to take what I've quoted in bold - wouldn't this affect the market for the original release? I am already wondering whether to get 10 when he is released or wait for a blue suit expansion pack and build up a figure that way, as I love the blue suit and am not keen ont he brown one or the coat. That is potentially a sale lost of the big, boxed, expensive first release.
I'm not saying it isn't a cool idea I just can't see it being financially viable.
I really don't see how buying expansion packs and building a specific variant is better than buying it as a full figure. Also, I find it funny how I'm getting belittled for my opinion, yet nobody can tell me where I should get red bowtie & braces for the Closing Time Doctor. Maybe someone will take apart an original 11 and sell the parts separately. Maybe some people will take apart the expansion packs and sell those parts separately as well. At least that way people who only want a few specific parts to complete a figure could buy them without having to get several unwanted parts along with them. But you'll have to deal with different sellers who'll most likely jack up prices, risk not getting certain parts etc. But why make it simple when you can do it complicated eh?
Toy Anxiety. But you missed the boat. They're soldout now but they had a fair few when they came in.
They will almost certainly be parting out the expansion packs as well so you can pick and choose what you want.
Thanks for the info
BC could also just sell every part separately themselves so people can pick and choose what they need to build their desired variant but as I said, why make it simple when you can do it complicated.
Why not make it in packs and make sure we have all parts before ending up needing another for something else and have it sold out and save us on shipping? I can think of a few characters that could use some parts that come with the packs. Spare parts are always useful and if you don't want them, I'm sure there's more than a handful who could use them. Just look at how fast Toy Anxiety sold out of parts.
Why make it complicated for collectors when you can do it simple?
Toy Anxiety is a company and located in the US. I don't think it'll be as easy to get rid of unwanted parts as a private seller located in Germany. Doctor Who and the 1/6 hobby aren't nearly as popular in Germany and collectors that live in the UK, US etc rather buy from fellow countrymen to save shipping and avoid custom fees.
Yeah, but the packs don't make sure that we have all parts either, as proven by the wrong colour bowtie & braces example.
I don't think having to buy every part from a different seller saves on shipping. If you could buy everything from BC themselves, that would save shipping.
The best option that ensures that everyone gets all parts they need for a certain character is offering them as full figures.

One thing I wanna know: who let the resident Eeyores out?
eBay begs to differ.
But we already have the others. What would be the point in selling another red bow tie and braces set? Then you'd complain we'd get doubles.
Why need to buy from different sellers is TA has most, if you don't slack around?
As a seller, I never had any issue getting rid of anything. Including people from UK, US and AU.
