Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

People are getting upset in case a not-yet-confirmed Clara figure turns out to have the same female body as the not-yet-released Amy figure.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Not complaining. Just discussing the possibility that BC have designed a body that is adaptable to slightly different female forms.
I am sure that they have. Through the use of a generic torso, extension pegs and tailored clothing, I cannot see why not.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Yeah, I don't see anyone getting upset... just discussion/hoping. I'm fine with the same body. It seems the only economically feasible option, especially as BCS are effectively paying for this female body twice.

Seems better than some of the topics that have been discussed here. LOL.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Haha. Yeah. It's funny how some people see arguments where only discussion is taking place.
After watching the Christmas show (again) I'm super keen on a pairing of the Doctor and Clara Chrstmas set. I'm sure we see something nice, eventually.
In the mean time I'm hoping for that December po on 10 to come thru.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Clara is substantially shorter than Amy, they even make a point of mentioning her height in the Xmas episode. But a Clara body could be used for Rose... and Amy for Martha...

Exactly! Karen and Jenna have such contrasting body types I couldn't even see Big Chief even thinking about re-using the body.

Sorry to burst bubbles but i highly doubt we will see a Rose figure in the future.Billy Piper does not like collectables made of her she would not consent to a bust in the past, i saw the prototype and it was a realy good likeness.I hope she changes her mind in the future but i would not expect it.

Just buy a sculpture of a horse and bam! You have a Rose bust. :yess:

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Some companies like Hot Toys use new bodies for different figures, women in particular, but BC is no Hot Toys, in terms of business strength and experience particularly.

If they release multiple female figures and they all use the same base body its better than nothing.

Not an excuse, just reality for a struggling company.

10 looks amazing BTW. I wouldn't preorder from BCS unless I have to, but I look forward to them arriving to a preferred retailer.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Is the long coat now the Doctor's new costume? If so, they should release it asap and forget about a Ganger expansion pack etc.

I would love the Christmas Episode Doctor, very Willy Wonka/ Mad Hatter.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

If they focus on every variation of Eleven then there's no hope for the rest of the Doctors.

I'd much rather see some of the other Docs being made rather than mindless expansions. If they make Clara from that episode then they'll surely make Eleven from it too. -_-

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I've given up on the expansion packs, it seems like we would've seen those by now if they were coming. I'd still love to have the green coat/steston set if they ever do make it out though.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I liked the idea f the expansion packs at first, but I'm growing tired of the idea. Just build new ackaged figures of the Ganger Doctor and the stetsoned Doctor in long coat. These may even sell better in the long run, and give BC two figures to instantly ave ready to sell. I think it's in everyones best interest if they thought that way.

Thank you. I have been saying that ever since they announced the expansion packs.

Looks like many people started to dislike the idea when they heard that the BC stuff isn't compatible with Hot Toys...

I REALLY want a Cowboy Doctor and I hope that is going to be released in some form, I will buy it no matter what but I would prefer a ready made variant to expansion packs any day.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

The problem with making full variant 11's is that at $200 a pop, they would be a very tough sell.

Buying all the expansion packs you'd need to make this variant wouldn't be much cheaper. Especially since using a cheap ebay body isn't an option...

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

You'd need two sets for each Doctor, a comparable body (a BC one) and additional bits, a base, etc.
Having given this some serious thought, BC really should go full figure release. Better fr all concerned, unless, you intend to have one Doctor varient on your shelf at any given time!
Looking at my Bats shelf, there are four versions of the Batman and a Bruce Wayne (and a second Wayne in progress).
I'd have no problem with multiple 11s on the shelf.

Totally agree.

I posted a breakdown a while ago, unfortunately I deleted every post concerning this subject as it led to trouble back then...

I came to the following conclusions:

- a variant made out of expansion packs would cost just as much if not more than a full figure if it was being offered
- you'd have to pay for clothing and extras that you don't want, selling this stuff would be difficult imo
- you'd either have an incomplete or inaccurate figure on your shelf for a while as not everything you need to make an accurate variant would be released at the same time
-whilst trying to make several variants there would always be some part missing to complete a certain figure, forcing you to buy even more packs
- even if people sell these parts separately on ebay, you'd have to get them from different sellers, too much hassle
- from what I've seen, most collectors would use these packs to make full figures instead of using them as an extension for one figure
- people that want a certain version of a certain character will buy it anyway and those who don't wouldn't buy the expansion packs either. Nobody would buy just one pack without the others needed to have a complete figure with an accurate outfit as seen on the show. Also I think more people might be put off by the hassle these packs mean rather than the price of a figure.

I prefer having multiple versions of my favourite characters instead of re-dressing one figure all the time.

He will have a long coat, but it won't be the green one so it doesn't matter if they move up the production on that. I guess it's always possible he might wear the green one again, but to be honest the window of striking while the iron is hot is closing on a lot of those. I think there will still be a lot of people who want it (and the fez look) as they are pretty iconic, but I bet it'll be less than if they'd gotten this out a few months ago. Sort of like Amy.

I like the idea of these packs just because I really just want a few pieces. I'd like his green coat, but not sure I'm fussed about having his cowboy hat or the other stuff. So this is a nice option. Now, I guess the question is, are there more people in one camp (who want a fully different new figure) or the other (who just want bits and pieces.)

I have no clue, myself. But, what about the season 7b look? I wonder if they could offer it both ways - just as an outfit set and as a full-on new figure. Since it's a whole new outfit, I'd be more inclined to just get the full figure. But then I wonder if I will really need multiple Matt variants in what I hope will, eventually, become a sizeable collection of BCS figures. So maybe it'd be better to switch stuff out? I'm just not so sure any more.

To be honest, I think I won't make my mind up about these until I see some pricing finally. That's really going to tell me whether I think they are a good idea or not.

If you want all the stuff necessary to build a second figure. I just want display options for the figure I have, which I believe was the intention of the expansion sets.
