Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I wouldn't cancel. I would be very concerned that the figure being created is no longer the current companion tho.
Personally not interested at all in Sherlock. I enjoyed the show, but have no intention to purchase product. For any Sherlock release, tats a Who figure that isn't being made.
I would be interested in seeing the comparison on the sales figures tho, between a Who and a Sherlock figure.

I imagine I'd pick up Sherlock and Watson. It's not a line with a lot of depth though. I can't imagine they'd make 6 or 7 characters from it.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I might buy Sherlock if I have the spare money at the time, but as much as I love the show I can't say that it's a big priority for me. I'm far less likely to buy Watson, as I've never been much of a Martin Freeman fan, even though he is good on the show. It's possible I'll bite, but I don't anticipate it happening to be honest. I can't imagine anyone else I'd even remotely consider buying from the show.

But the show is very popular, with geek and non geek audience alike, so I imagine (and hope) it does well for them regardless.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Sherlock and Watson are who I am excited for. I hope they go up for preorder soon.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I o hope they get sold for BC, as it may open up other lines - still like to see them do 007, or a Carry On line (one was done in the past by some company, but I don't think many saw the light if day).

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I could see them doing well with a 007 line, for sure. In fact they could carve out quite a niche for themselves just sticking with British characters and licenses.

Personally, as unlikely as it no doubt is, I'd love to see them do Patrick McGoohan as Number Six from The Prisoner. Yes, I know, he's not a number, he's a free man. :lol

I'd also be interested in seeing them tackle Red Dwarf at some point as well. Classic Hammer Horror too. And then I wake up and go rob a bank. :p

Not that I want to see them try and over-extend themselves, as too many companies have tanked after trying to expand too quickly, but one day some of those licenses sure would be nice to see.

Ok ex parrot dude, all those ideas are just making me drool... So enough already.
But yeah, I like all of those ideas, a lot.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Let's all chill out and discuss something REALLY controversial... should they just cancel the Amy figure and concentrate on Doctors and Sherlock?:horror

I feel they should cancel all companions because it's much harder to produce them and get them out while they are still relevant. I suspect they'll discover that sales of Amy are much fewer than those of any Doctor, especially since a new companion will be on screens by the time her figure comes out. With Amy, they probably feel obligated to get her out since she's been advertised, but after that, I hope Big Chief focuses on Doctors and maybe a few baddies.

Niceman, I'm so sure they'll come through for you that if they don't I'll steal the cube off my kid's shelf and send it to you.

My doctor is staying in his box until Amy arrives (although I have done a full check lol). That's how important I see the companion / assistant!

I may be waiting some time!:impatient:

Dr Watson is not a number. He is a (Martin) Freeman.

Oh come on!!! You all know someone had to! (looks for #Falling On His Sword# smilie)

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

+1

Carry-On, 007 (now that SSC are utterly finished with it - how I got into 1/6 initially actually :)), Red Dwarf, Hammer. Great suggestions

Wasn't there a 'Hammer' style Christopher Lee-Dracula figure a few years back? I remember going to our first ever LF&CC at Earls Court and he being the top guest and seeing someone carrying one in the queue to have it signed.

It was going to be tough for that fan though because he does not sign anything to do with Hammer, specially Dracula.

Sady, I think that Amy is going to be a lesson hard learned by BCS as she will no longer be getting any screen time. I still have my PO and really want her as a 'companion' piece (see what I did there? oh please yourselves!) to my 11.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I'm desperately for a Sherlock figure that's as good as 11. I really hope they announce it soon, I'm getting two. Sherlock would get them lots of publicity in the press - every British paper would carry a photo of the figure, as long as it came out around the time of series 3 or while it was being filmed. Our press loves Sherlock.

I hope they don't do a Carry On line, I heard somewhere that PE's Carry On figures tanked.

British icons would be good - Michael Caine from The Italian Job, a 1966 Bobby Moore figure with Jules Rimet Cup, Talking John Thaw as Regan ('We're the Sweeney, and we haven't had our dinner!') and if they can't get the Bond licence then how about Sean Connery from Marnie?

A Number 6 figure might sell - depends if there's 2000 Prisoner fans willing to pony up £150-£170. Ditto with Red Dwarf and Blake's 7. Personally I doubt it.

I hope they cancel Amy, it seems like a hard sell now she's left.

I don't think that matters, by that logic ever other companion before here would be a hard sell too as they have also left the show.:dunno

I'm still looking forward to Amy.

Yes, but as marketed and scheduled, Amy was to have been a current companion. That as nw changed. If this can be out before December, then she won't have been replaced in the show.
Now, as for female figures, I was looking at Kara. A set about to come out here. These are seriously well sculpted, with really well done rooted hair, and all have seamless bodies.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I thought she and Rory were great, for a while, but they really outstayed their welcomes. Their character arcs were over after the 6th season. They should not have come back.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Agreed. Companions should have a season each, with a crossover into the next to introduce the new one. Keeps everything fresh, and... Don't make the stories about the damned companions. That is really bugging me with these recent shows.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Problem is they have to be about the companions because the format doesn't permit for story telling long enough to get you invested in anyone else.
