Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Easy pass from me. Don't want another Colin nor a black cybie... I wish they would release a Colin from Ultimate Foe. :(

I might be wrong on this but as I recall from my sole viewing of "Attack of the Cybermen" earlier this year the Cyberman was all black whereas the one in the FPI set looks like the body just has a black wash over the silver and only the head and chest plate have got the solid black paint apps.

The "Attack" Cybermen didn't have the moon boots or the clear mouth plate either so it's a pretty lazy effort considering the other Cybermen have been so accurate.

The cyber-completist in me is saying "buy" but on this occasion I don't feel 100% certain the set is worth the £24.99.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

The repaint of Colin looks terrible. Hair is too dark. They really need a new "chubbier" sculpt for 6. I also don't recall a stealth cyberman with a day-glo orange gun.

I just had a quick look at the episode.. you're NOT wrong.

Nice to be right for a change :yess:

I suppose there's a chance that it's a really bad Photoshop as CO aren't exactly known for the skills in that area but if not it's pretty lame considering the price.

I can forgive the odd minor slip with details but the whole body being wrongly colored plus the boots being innaccurate for that story is not acceptable and I don't really need another Colin either so I think my £24.99 will be saved towards something better.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Good luck with the customising but I think there's a few things to bear in mind,

(snip)

3.Suprisingly, a Rose Tyler head makes an AWESOME Adric.
( With extensive modding of course. )

Thanks, Brendan, you just about made me breathe my tea with *that* mental image.
:lol

:lol

Imagine how I felt when I saw a custom of Leela using a Donna Noble head :horror:horror:horror

I'll try and find pic of the Adric custom and post it as it's suprisingly good though it doesn't say much for Billie Piper's features if she makes an accurate likeness of a bloke :rotfl

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

A second full wave of Nu-Who series 5 figures has been announced,

Smiler ( Pegwarmer. )
Prisoner Zero ( The crappy snake thing. )
Vampire ( One of the male ones = FAIL. )
Roman Soldier Auton ( Pointless unless it was Rory. Which it isn't. )
Dalek Progenitor ( Silver version of an RTD Dalek. )
Dalek ( Whatever rank the blue one is. )

No repack of Amy = :cuckoo:

My local Tesco has just restocked Classic wave 2 for the 3rd time so I'm pondering whether to get a 6th "Earthshock" Cyberman or a 4th Ice Warrior.......or both.

If FPI's schedules are still right the season 18 4th Doctor & K9 should ship this week = :yess:

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Lame wave. Not interested in anything there. :sleep

(and the blue iDalek is a "Drone" I believe)

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Prisoner Zero instead of Rory? both Rory and Amy had several unique looks during the series and either would of been better than some CGI worm. Not one of those im interested in so il skip over that wave!

It seems CO went full retard with this wave as the Auton Roman Soldier doesn't even have a hand that flips down to reveal the gun :cuckoo:

I also think a fez wearing variant of 11 should have been included and a repack of Amy should have been top priority considering how short packed the first release was.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

So its literally just some Roman dude, how can CO expect anyone not just collectors but children to buy that? that is a definate waste of production, i would of made either a Silurian soldier or the Dream lord.

Yep, they won't make Classic companions but they will make a random Roman and try and pass it off as an Auton :cuckoo:

The Dream Lord or one of the generic lizard creatures would have been a much better use of the cash used for the unarmed Auton's development.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Wait... he doesn't even come with a sword? What kid is going to want that? :lol

I think he's got a sword but he's lacking the signature Auton flip down hand that reveals the gun so is for all intents and purposes a random background Roman which is a brainfart that makes the empty Cassandra frame look an inspired choice..........well almost :rotfl

The CO apologists on the fansites have already concocted several justifications for such a release but they probably bought the Cassandra frame too so their opinions are worthless :)

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

haha the Cassandra frame was quite possibly the most brilliant money saving toy ever..just behind empty packaging labeled 'invisible man'
