Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

The jacketless 11 looks great in the console room, and I totally stole your Ainley Master pose.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Oh man, I'm trying to limit my purchases to 1/6 Doctor Who stuff, but I can't resist that playset.

Am I right that a blue shirt Eleven hasn't been released yet or am I just not looking in the right place?

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Blue Shirt 11 was only released as a Toys R Us exclusive Crash pack (and the in the UK stores only). I just got one off of ebay.

Here is a pick of the two side by side:

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Thanks very much. I've bookmarked a couple of listings and I know I'll give in and buy it very soon.

That is the problem with asking about things: on the one hand I was hoping it had been made because I'm trying to have a matching CO scale figure for all my sixthscale Doctor stuff, but on the other hand I was hoping it hadn't been made because then I wouldn't have buy it!

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I bought the blue tie variant from TRU in August and i actually prefer it over the red tie for some reason, i swapped the brown shoes over to the red version as i thought it suited more and im going to repaint a set to be a bit more better looking when i learn to paint. Im hoping to grab the unjacketed version soon as i was worried of my shelves getting cluttered with variants ( i have 6 Tennants)

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Has anyone else had any problems with these figures. I had a Ironside Dalek from the new series from Underground Toys and it had a majore defect. One of the orbs looked like it was broken off and glued back on. I found others that were the same in almost the exact same place. I guess they may need to put a bit more investment into Quality Controll.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

:lol There are a few around but i am a Tennant fan so i'm ok with him taking shelve space haha

I had a problem with the 6" new Dalek remote control drone, his plunger was bent and the other had dodgy head electronics but a bit of warm water and some stretching sorted that issue with the plunger. I had issues with the legs on the Doctors from the 11 Doc set but that was about it.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I painted a bunch of my figures last night. Regen Tom. Regen Eccles. I'll post pics later. :O

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Yeah it seems like there are a fair amount of issues. Honestly these are very cool looking figures. If they would just improve their QC a bit I'm sure they would get more loyalty in return. As it is, I checked out 4 of those Ironside Daleks and 3 had the same defect. 1 in 4 is a very bad defect ratio!!!

But aside from that I just love the designs. I guess they know people like me will buy them anyways :(

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I tried my hand at painting for the first time. There are few touch-ups I still need to do (like painting the Fob chains and buttons). Sorry for the rotten yellowy hue and glare. I need to learn how to use my camera better.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Did you paint the 9's figures shirt black? i attempted this a whiel ago but the acryllic paint i used left stroke marks and didnt cover with a smooth finish. Yours looks really good though, and i think you could make the McGann new costume using 9's jacket if he does go with the jacket.
Great customs though Pix, especially the Pertwee>Baker.

I was watching the 'Armageddon factor' on my ipod and i thought i saw Toms Tardis have a blue light on top, can anyone tell me if this is this correct or if my eyes decived me?

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Nice work Marc. One tip though,

Lose the bow tie on the Regeneration Tom for a bit of extra accuracy :wink1:

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Yeah I would except losing the bowtie would be require that I sculpt a new collar and I don't have anywhere near the skills required to pull that off.

N2k, I did paint it black. I used citadel paints. Mine did they same streaky thing. I just had to go over it 3 times (each time waiting for the previous coat to dry) and it turned out fine.

A fair point, I wasn't sure if the bow tie was stuck on seperate or not.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I finally recieved my 11 Sonic Screwdriver Screwdriver that i ordered in August, it had been delayed several times and what i recieved was once again like the LED version vaslty different from the picture.
It was advertised as being metal and to be fair half of it is, the bottom half is very much cast and it feels weighty and a lot nicer than the toy version but the upper part is a cheap plastic that ruins the look as they dont contrast well. The parts ae stored in the upper half so there is no extending claw action which i could live without anyways and the button for light and sound effects is placed on the white grip handle rather than the black grip like the toy the Sound effects are really weak and it gives the impression it is held under water.
I was expecting more of a bronze and silver/Chrome paint app like the picture showed but instead i got a diahorea brown and cheap silver.
If you own no screwdrivers then this is a cool gimmick item to own, it does feel better than the toy with its robust metal handle but it doesnt look any better despite being more expensive.

I went to TRU this morning and saw,

Both the new 6-packs
TARDIS playset
Several million Winders/Smilers
clear plastic Weeping Angel

There was a buy one get one free on series 5 figures but there were no Paradigm Daleks so I didn't bother.
