Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Im sure yours are on the way Marc. I also got my Blu Ray copy of Planet of the Dead so it's a Doctor Who Day! :rock

Ahem..... FOUR Doctors to go. :lecture

You keep saying that.. but it doesnt hold until Christmas :lol Right now we still only have 3 Doctors. After Christmas it will be four :lol

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Mine was processed and left Kent, WA last night.. So I may have mine by tomorrow afternoon.

I just rewatched Planet of the Dead and it was better the second time around. :rock

Nice!

I've had something of a good result on the figure front today too, firstly my ebay auctions finished positively so I'll shortly have the cash for the 4th Doctor adventure pack, the colour version of the 1st Doctor/Dalek set and the 3rd Doctor/ Sea Devil set.

A trip to my local TRU provided an unexpected suprise as they had some of the Cyberman wave on the pegs ( only the 2nd time I've seen any in a store ) so I got the last 2 "Invasion" Cybermen on the pegs and I will likely go back for a couple of the "10th Planet" version next week as there were quite a lot of those left.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Here's a shot of the Doctors. Hartnell has the white dot which I hated in the others but actually like on him.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Awesome news bcm :rock

Thanks! I should get my first set tomorrow or Friday so I'm shortly going to be able to take some pics of the 2nd Doctor and two different incarnations of Cybermen

Memnoch,
Nice pic, I'm pleased how good the likenesses of Hartnell & Troughton are, hopefully the Pertwee sculpt will get tweaked a bit more so it's of similar standard to the others.

True.

Missi from DesignWorks was going to show some new pics at outpostwho but now he says he has to drawback from his involvement due to pressures on him... I wonder if Shaun Lyon's site (which has a toy forum but its lacking most of the key people who moved from DWF to outpost) had anything to do with this.

Shaun Lyon is the worst thing that has ever, ever, ever happened to Doctor Who. Ever. I'm so pleased that his disgusting little fiefdom has now bitten the dust. His website was giving British children - who worship the programme - the impression that watching Doctor Who turns you into a socially maladjusted, buttoned up adult weirdo.

Good riddance, you ^^^^ing freak.

Oh please. The official BBC forum was so overrun by this sort of person it had to be shut down. So much for British children...

Well, quite. And now that OG has gone, fandom is a better place, despite the continued lurking presence of Lyons sinister henchman Dr Arnold T Blumberg (I believe he's a doctor of comic books rather than medicine).

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

Was OG really that bad? ( I was never able to sign up so I don't know )

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I never thought it was too bad. What I disliked is him just deciding to delete the whole dang site (which was full of a lot of useful info). I thought that was a total ****** move on his part.

Sounds like someone violated the TOS and found themselves banned.

I never thought it was too bad.

I guess you could argue with one sentence! :D

Why? It was his personal site and it cost money to host. Frankly I think he's a bit of an egomaniac but there's nothing wrong with shutting down the rest of the site when he decided he was done with running it. Should he keep paying to keep it running out of charity?

That does seem a bit off though I suppose it would have been costing him a bit to keep going.

I think Outpost Who is OK though I think there's a distinct mentality of "everything about Who is 100% great and is beyond reproach" among some members which makes for some pretty boring threads.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

I am pretty sure its quite easy to archive a website for free. It was our of sheer spite that he did what he did. Not to mention that there was no shortage of people willing to take things over (including the bills)... So yeah. The guy is a sheister in my book.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

All sites have their pros and cons. The OG forum was moderated, which is good or bad depending on your perspective. Personally I don't have a problem with fair moderation as it tends to keep the maniacs at bay. It was heavily biased toward the new series and had a tendency to root out false spoilers, which means if you vocalized your dislike of the new series or enjoyed spreading false rumors you probably wouldn't enjoy your stay.

But on balance it was probably the fairest and sanest Doctor Who community around. I say this despite disliking Lyon and many of his moderators.

It's worth remembering the official BBC forum was shut down because the British fans it attracted - many of them new to fandom at the time - were far more egregious than anything that came out of OG.

Re: New Doctor Who Figures?

One thing I really enjoyed about OG was the ability of people there to actually discuss politics and religion and NOT get offended.

I would love to know where I can find free hosting for a massive site with commercial grade monthly traffic. Perhaps you can share a link?
