Just found out that the store I pre-ordered mine at is getting 5 in tomorrow total. Yes... FIVE. I lucked out.

I preordered mine and was told I would get it tomorrow when I was in the store, but then my order confirmation came in telling me the store would have it in 7-14days. ... it was available, but had to be shipped to the store

The guy at my store didn't know for sure how many were coming, so unless I get lucky, it'll be the 7-14 days for me, too. 
If you haven't already pre-paid for yours and your store doesn't have any left tomorrow you might actually want to try your hand at Best Buy or Wal-Mart.

We have like 4 Apple stores around me and a few AT&T stores, but it seems like tons of people are upgrading! I guess more people still had the 2G and are fianlly upgrading to the 3GS. Damn it!!

When I was in the store preordering mine, a few people were getting the $99 3G. I'm hoping a lot of people are doing that locally so I can get my 3G S sooner.

There are quite a few of the new OS functions that aren't supported in the US but you're in Ireland right? You get the text picture messaging and the tethering on top of the copy and paste and other functionalities don't you?

Meh, not a whole lot to be excited about. Copy/Paste and the search feature are both handy. I'm also happy to be able to download movies and video straight to the iPhone through the iTunes app.

Yeah you get the copy and paste which can be useful. Is this not available in the US?

Yeah, it is. Even works on the 1st Gen iPhone.
The only things not yet working in the U.S. are MMS and Tethering, but both are coming.
