The NECA P1 1:4 releases (4 of them now) have been great.

NECA's is great. If it was true 1/4 I could have lived with it... I bought two of them and was able to track down the third head. I am trying to find the pic of my display when I use to have him bit it seems to be gone :(

Thanks... I think you should really think about getting one though... I tend to be right about everything ;) :lol

Joking aside - as with so MANY of us that backed away - if they fixed that leg armour - I'd buy it.

But - they said it's where they want it to be - so that's that unfortunately.

.

The last-but-one photo you posted (copied below) is from PREDATORS . . .

That is what I thought . . .

Turns out we were wrong on that "PREDATORS" pic.

Xenoburger on Statue forum has just pointed out this is from PREDATOR (the original) - it's the bone trophies that should have given it away I guess.

Yeah that pic is from PREDATOR, seen that pic around the internet long before PREDATORS :)

So - some of us instinctively feel this is “off”, while others think it’s fine.

Rather than going on instinct and “gut feel” (ironic given what is to follow), I thought I’d try to accurately quantify what some people are seeing.

Please note that this is not meant to dissuade people from ordering.

I used one of the pics that JAWS (and others) have posted here & elsewhere, along with one of Sideshow’s. I used the exact same pics (not rescaled) for both vertical & horizontal comparisons.

  • As you can (hopefully) now see – they have done a great job vertically (first pic), but it is the “heft” (his body bulk in the other 2 directions - front-to-back & side-to-side) that is out. The net result is that he looks anorexic - WAY too skinny, and it makes the bio mask look too big for his body.
    .
[*]This also shows the issue with the thigh armour.

I’ll do the same with a full frontal shot (oooh-errr nurse!) if I can find suitable pics.

I think this piece looks stunning, the issues I had with the city hunter seem to be corrected with the jungle hunter, that bio helmet of this maquette is spot onto the film, his pose, his likeness, the little finer details. But overall looking at the head sculpt, the body, the base, this is a must have piece that finally we getting a hunter on 1/4 scale that can be posed with dutch. I love the mixed media on this piece, after what I have seen so far very happy to get hold of this piece in 2018 on what ever dates they start shipping it out in 2018

Here is what I assume is the Predators "jungle Predator" looks much more like the statue as it also seems to have an elongated face compared to the original.

It's not perfect but not the abomination that some are claiming also :)

Yea this is definitely from Predator and as Jaws points out, the sculpt is pretty darn close IMO as his face isn't as "short" as many people were claiming it to be. You can nitpick it all you want, but for those people claiming that this looks nothing like the Predator I can't really take you seriously.

Anyone claiming it looks "nothing like the Predator" is being a bit of a silly-billy, and I've only seen a couple of those here.

It does make the face look more accurate - at least accurate to one picture rather than all the others out there. But still looks odd.

I'm amazed I've never seen the pic before now. That's the first time a pic is new to me in - well - years! I'm going to sit in the corner with the dunces hat on now.

Absolutely sick display! But If that were me I would've sacrificed the Cinemaquette instead of the Big Chap.

The Cinemaquette? Seriously lol...I personally think that is the best Predator ever created. The Big Chap is fantastic but no way is it better than that Predator. But I guess everyone has different opinions.

Did people complaints much about the cinemamaquette? Seems that is considered a grail and that looks nothing like the Predator from the first film. I get that it's huge and well done. I also think it's awesome but as far as film accuracy goes it's a fail.

If I'm not mistaken wasn't the sculpture who worked on this worked on the original Predator for Stan Winston! I could be wrong but I did a lot of research on the cinemaquette. It also looks way better in person

The NECA scale never bothered me because I have them displayed away from anything that is true 1/4 scale. If I had them displayed next to 1/4 pieces it would look funny. But I don't and they look great

I think the unmasked head sculpt looks like an older hot toys predator before they stepped their game up.

I was just going over these Predator pics on sideshows website and that gap on his mask might not be a gap at all? Is it possible that the bio Mask is an actual mask? That clips onto his face sculpt? its bugging me a little why the gap is there and not in the portrait they had on display at the Con

Your answer to this - along with why it is not screen accurate - is under the post you quoted :)

.

Yeah that's correct. Didn't realise till after my post lol

No worries - this thread is growing like Jack's beanstalk :)

As regards your other post . . .

Some folks think it may be a clip-on mask. Others think it's 2 swap-out heads (same as the P2).

We won’t know for sure until we get clarification from Sideshow OR get further pics/videos – BUT - the Sideshow site pic does say swap out PORTRAITS (same wording always used when there is more than 1 head).

On the P2 (sculpted by the same team that did this P1), the mask is cast apart from the head, and the way they look together is down to the way the "key" between the head and mask is (1) sculpted, and (2) positioned when gluing. That's why we are worried that the gap will be present on all/most production copies for the P1.

I was thinking that it's possible but not likely as it would not make any sense to say switch out portrait like they always say with alternative heads. If this is final it could cause major concerns. I think Iron Sudios got their ***** kicked for doing this gap glueing with their Spider-Man 1/4 piece. People were in up roar lol

Yea, seriously. I know it's probably heresy, but I have a few reasons:

1) The space that the Cinemaquette requires is gigantic. It's a huge footprint and I don't have the space for him.

2) The sculpt and pose are idealized and don't really do anything for me.

3!!) No biomask sculpt. This is the big one for me.

4) It's not in scale with the rest of my collection.

5) Price. If I had it I would sell it and put that money towards other collectibles I'd want to buy.

I forgot to add - the gap was on all but 1 of the in-hand P2 bio-heads I've seen (I've got TWO myself!) - hence the concern.

But who knows - they fixed the P2's "right angled dreds" issue on this P1 sculpt - so there is hope for you guys.
