I've said it before and I'll say it again. That guy is up to no good. He's been asking for the Banhammer for quite some time. (Between you and me.)

I mean who starts a user name with a "-" and then fails to capitalize the first letter of a PROPER noun. That's like a federal offense in some countries. It's just disgusting.

:wink1:

How you gonna post that when it makes me sad. :(

I has a sad now. Thanks, Chap. :monkey2 :(

Bro if Red Son is $470, this is going to be at least that if not more...

I have NO idea how that one went up for so much, but that'd be a massive jump from $399.99. The variant for Batman was something like $425, and that seemed like the next logical pricing point after $399.99 for regular PFs. The Arkham ones I took licensing into consideration for; however, Red Son...that's just insanity to be seen as the next baseline.

I doubt it. Still thinking about $429,99 or $439,99. Maybe just a little over that, but not $470. Well, I hope I'm right...

This is what I'm thinking too. $429.99 is still really pricey, but if they completely bypass this price point and jump right up to $450 (which I fear they will for this one) then that'll knock a lot of people out of the game...or at least the multiple pieces at all times game. Hell, even Josh-o-Tron mentioned that he was tempted by Arkham but held off...if they were all $349.99 still, I'm sure he'd have them all on PO.

Raising the prices in inevitable, but if you do it too fast then you'll probably lose more in the long run when you're a company like Sideshow who's aiming to appeal to the mass market of collectors.

If you're a Spidey fan how can you not want this?

Easy purchase here for me.

:goodpost::exactly: Yeah. I think that Red Son was something else, just not their new average price. I hope its not over 450 since I'm thinking their going with a lower price/Big ES strategy (which is not that real low, only their new average price). That way they can reach every1 and sells more.

:exactly:

Now I get $349.99 is done and gone, that's all good. Nobody expects that anymore. But there are a good chunk of PFs that were $399.99 that aren't even out yet...Daredevil was $379.99 and he's not out until the end of the summer some time. Those are prices where people would be less likely to go, "Do I REALLY need this?" and would just go, "That looks cool! Let's add it to the collection!"

When you go above $400, that's where a good majority of people put on the breaks and start weighing options. So using Josh as an example, instead of him having a handful of pieces on order (we'll guess that'd he'd be more apt to buy a few even at $399.99) he's going for Spidey -- which he would've simply added to the pile of POs he already had, instead of Spidey now being the lone one.

Sure there'll be times when there are a few items on PO, but it seems to be fairly clear that with prices going above $400, there's a lot more coming into play when it comes to deciding what fits in someone's collection. Of course, that's not the case for everyone! I mean, some have huge disposable incomes, and I envy that; however, Sideshow makes edition sizes in the thousands because they aim to appeal to a wider consumer base.

I mean, I know Spider-Man will sell. They know he'll sell...but there is a breaking point for people. If he goes for $450, then his rogues will also...but these aren't action figures. Just because you own Spidey doesn't mean you need a Green Goblin to play with him. I just hope they keep things somewhat reasonable in terms of their prices going up. It's been very consistent, and seeing guesses at $500 and above with a straight face is pretty frightening! Even Red Son Superman is frightening...and I still don't get that one!

I'm sitting firm at it should not be over $399.99. Now if the 90 degree steel rod suggestion is true. I would understand $429.99 for engineering. But it is not justifiable. The red son better be a tiny ES to justify that hike... $80 for new and clothes... No way.

This pf has no clothes, so logically it should be cheaper. Like $379 as daredevil was...

I was doing okay at $400, not as much as I'd like but okay. Like you say though, above that you start to pump the breaks a bit. I wanted Vader, the new Jason, The New Freddy, Arkam Batman and possibly Joker, plus this Spidey, Aquaman and Darkseid. That along with the blue Batman I have on PO. However with these new prices I'll be cutting most of that list down. And if couse we still have SDCC to consider.

Also, someone said a possible neck/jaw seam. I don't see it. Just the arm seam is the one I see...

I think you make a number of good points in your posts...

I am not sure what the "breaking point" price is for most people...but I'm not convinced Sideshow is overly concerned about staying below $400 or even $450 mark. Particularly when they are dealing with a very popular character. Gladiator Hulk, King Hulk, and Darkseid were all $599. Lobo was $479, Arkham Batman was $469. Spidey is as popular, if not more so, than many of the characters I just mentioned. I have seen people who have routinely complained about Sideshow's price increase stating they don't care what Sideshow charges for this new Spidey PF...they are determined to buy it.

I do believe the price increases limit the amount of pre-orders. But many collectors have stated "I won't pre-order...I will wait for in hand pics before buying". But the key is...people are still buying. If SS is able to successfully push through price increases, people may order less product but Sideshow revenues won't necessarily drop. In some instances a company may be able to sell less product, at higher prices and the company can still survive. Particularly if that company is able to maintain or improve upon their historic margins.

I think this is the 1st Spidey piece from SSC that I really like. Looks impressive from what I've seen so far.

Has it been confirmed that Spidey himself will be polystone?

Heh this is the best time to be a statue collector for me. Something amazing just released collective blowing the minds of everyone. With very few information speculation runs wild ideas and possibilities are bouncing all over the place. Hopes, fears, complaints, lovers and haters all explode in a fury of unabashed nerdism. xD

The statue is now up for pre-order and the excitement reaches a fervor pitch all the info is laid bare(minus the edition number >.>) What is the EX exactly?? How does the pose look really? What's the base actually look like? All is answered for us to critique. Some of us are ecstatic! It's everything we dreamed it could be while others seem disappointed, intent to rain on the parade.

In the end we all empty out our hard earned cash to buy something that most would look at as a waste. For some of us it's a work of art, a sculpture that just so happens to be of super hero's and not nude greek men =.=

Lol I wasn't prepared for how much these darn statues would suck me in help i stuck and i can't get out!!

Not so sure about any SSC pre-order now. Will see how much it cost and how "exclusive" is the exclusive

You can blame Darklord Dave for that. He put the - and no cap j. I was Jase before but someone already had -jase- so Dave changed me to -jay- :( :lol

I really love the look of this, and fully expect a price north of $450, maybe even $500. For me, that means I am out on this, but I will get the black costume variant. Thats the one I really want, but would have bought both if they came it at the old $399 tag.

That's what sideshow needs to realize. At $350 to $399, people buy entire series and variants. At $400+ people struggle to justify variants (especially when they are like red son and show up with a $80 bump...)
