Look at what you are getting with XM's Thor. Spinning hammer, swap out portraits, swap out hands, swap out hammers, and a collectible coin. I'm sure if he was released with only the Odin Sword as a swap out feature, the price would have been significantly less.[emoji38] Also, don't forget, retailers and XM themselves reward their customers with nice cash discounts for their repeat customers. Prestige members are paying $715 USD for the XM Thor. Peeps may not want all the extras that come with the XM Thor but there's no denying all those extras will add heavily to the retail price of the piece. It's not exactly a fair comparison between the 2 pieces (comparing the 2 compaines Hawkeyes, Ms Marvels, or Caps is, even though XM offers more swap out parts). Also, don't forget that XM's Thor is a solid statue and there is no compromise in materials, QC, or paint apps.
All that said, I did order the SSC modern Thor. I think it looks great. However, I did so because I liked they way it looked over the initial XM Thor preview (the one Tony C was working on). When XM scrapped that piece and went with the current Sosa sculpt, I can't honestly say the SSC modern Thor looks better anymore. The problem is that I had already committed to the SSC Thor (I've been on my final flex payment for awhile now) when the revised XM Thor went up for PO. That's all water under the bridge though because I know I'll still enjoy the SSC modern Thor. I'll be very happy with how it looks IF QC holds up. But, I'll always admit that the XM Thor is the Thor statue to own (IMO). I would've splurged the extra $$$ on it if shipping charges weren't so damn expensive. It's the combination of the 2 that prove to be lethal to my wallet and cause me to keep my XM purchases in check.
