You prefer this?

I prefer it the way it is, but it's interesting how different all of our tastes can be.

Probably a generational thing. I would prefer smaller Romita Sr eyes as well, since that's the Spidey from my childhood, whereas I find the whole Scarlet Spider design eye rolling 90's stuff. :)
Yeah, '70s-'80s Spidey is the ideal version to my eyes, and not McFarlane-inspired designs. Fortunately for this piece, his influence seems restricted to eye size. But every 1/4 Spidey so far by SSC has the huge eyes. I wish I was more into the faux bronze statue, because that's the Spidey I want to have in the collection.

Does anyone think there may eventually be some custom heads out there for the eye size /shape? I would also dig the narrower eyes. Hell I'm thinking I might even just try to customize the ex head myself.

Wouldn't surprise me if someone did customs...but they will definitely cost ya..

It might just be me...I'm not that excited for PO. I think this piece looks really nice but I just never get excited for SSC PO days anymore. Part of it has to do with issues dealing with SSC these days(not going to get into it) but I'm wondering if my passion for statues is starting to wane a bit. Maybe I'll feel differently if I see a lot of peeps claiming "ordered" in couple hours.

Yeah you're not alone. I even think for me at this point is the fact I'm always worrying about problems. Only when the piece gets delivered and it's fine that I'm excited again. But even then from the time of PO to the time of release is so long nowadays...

I totally agree with you on the tall bases.....sure we are getting more bang for our buck...but displaying can be a trouble ...for me anyways because I like my stuff covered and able to fit in my Ikea Bestas......
I had to make my own for the Keaton Bats.....I like the stairs but too tall...

I 've been waiting for this Spidey and now have my biggest decision of the week lol....

Valid points Spidey, I do like it but am concerned about ES... lol you know how I am when it comes to ES. I am thinking of PO-ing but the numbers will help me to decide. I just dont like what I am seeing on ebay with all these pieces that go for under retail eventually. Then I might as well buy it on the bay but I do like the sculpt though the base flames could have been better. :)

EX pieces rarely go for less than retail m8. It can happen, but not as often as some make it out to be. In the end this piece is an amazing looking Spiderman, and if I didn't already have the Com I would be over the moon happy with it, and I wouldn't care about the number on the bottom of it because I love the art. I will also add that, other than the DC Trinity, the ES for pieces have been decent as of late, and SSC Spidey's have been selling. When in doubt you could sell this on Kijiji locally and make back your money for sure. At least if you made sure you got the Ex. It is totally up to you how you spend you money mark, but in the end I wouldn't want to miss out on what could be the best Spidey statue of the next 10-15 years.

I feel you there, I'm happier to have a short PO list with money in my pocket the past year or two. I also think the wait and constant delays saps excitement/anticipation and adds a lot of frustration to many, QC $'ing blah blah etc...

That being said, I still like to see new work and think this looks great. I'll PO this to cover my ass until Black is 100% confirmed. Will decide what to do at that point and if I lose an NRD, Peter is worth that much to me.

It's probably because of the TBD way that all POs come up with now (unless they're those rare White Outfit Black Widow types) so there's no real rush. When the prints go up, there's a limited amount, so there's still that rush of "Oh man, I hope I can get it!" if there's one you want.

I like knowing things are locked down if I want them, but with all the delays recently due to the strike (even though I just have Machiko on deck) it's given me the feeling like I know I won't be seeing the piece for a looong time. So it'll still be nice to lock it in; however, I'll be off to work in less than an hour and I'm not worried or nervous since there's no need to be anymore. I'll just order it when I get home and that'll be that.

But yes, there's also been a dark cloud over this release -- and most of the latest releases -- due to the price, which also doesn't help things. I haven't busted open a PF in a looong time! The last pieces I received were the Alien LSBs, and let me say, once they were out for delivery, I was pumped! Nervous, but pumped! I know that same reaction will come back when Machiko goes out, and when this one does too. Maybe the downtime between statues is just causing you to feel that way? Or maybe becoming more picky will actually be a good thing, and allow you to really nail down pieces that appeal to you on all levels! :)

I agree with this especially. The waiting so long for the item has a huge impact on how excited I get for it. If the windows were shorter, my excitement would be greater. Maybe that's our culture of instant gratification working its magic, but it is a big factor for me, even more than the price.

I think the forums are our friend and foe. We read so much negativity which dampers our spirits while providing entertainment and knowledge. I think without the info we wldnt be so skeptical, for the most part.
