I don't know why they didn't start the movie from the very beginning like with Batman, but I think this should make it all the more interesting because it will be less obvious. I agree with fact that both Lois and Clark look way too young. I guess that can also be seen as good thing so they can star in future Superman movies, if this one turns out to be a hit.

I'm still torn with how this movie will be. The Actor has some tall shoes that can never be filled. But I'll still go see it when it comes out on opening night of course. Save my review till then.:emperor

This trailer to me really makes me want to see it now unlike the X-men trailer.

Its a bird..Its a plane...no wait...its a really cheesy line form what looks like is going to be a really good movie....I think I getting a little excited to see this one..Singer has a great track record with comic movies, so I dint see him letting us down with this one...I do however agree with a few who have already made comments about the added kid....not to found of kid saving movies...also Spacey looks to have been cast perfectly for Lex....really looking forward to the movie now...

You need to rewatch the first movie then. Christopher Reeve is Superman and Clark Kent. He nails them both perfectly. Good scene to see this is right after the flying bit with Lois during here interview, he goes from Clark to Superman right back to Clark with flawless execution. The delivery of the lines he makes as Superman oh and he is the reason the suit is faithfull, they wanted to changes to it back then as well.

Ooh, Kevin Spacey looked and sounded like Gene Hackman in the part were he asks Lois to say it only once. Then she says 'You're insane'. ThenLex laught and looked and sounded like Hackmans Lex! Cool!

Looks good but I'm lost with when this is set? Before the Superman films? After? Or just a new set of films like Batman Begings?

As someone else said,

Reeve nailed both Superman and Kent in the Superman films. He was perfect at both of them and has that great "likeable" factor that Superman should have.

Add that to Donner's directing, Hackman's great Lex and John Williams BEST score ever and you have a classic. Brando and Stamp (Zod) were also great.

Also, in 1978 it was AMAZING to see a man fly on the big screen.

from what i understand, it's set about 7 years after superman 2.

superman leaves earth to look for more survivors of krypton after becoming curious about general zod, non and ursula and visits the remains of krypton.

you could kinda look at this film as the "new" superman 3.:chew

Evilface and Gruson took the words out of my mouth. The first 4 Superman movies can never be outdone. They were fantastic in every way and Reeves was the best choice for Superman.

I think it is set after the first four Superman movies or maybe even after the first two. But nontheless, it is supposed to be a sequal unlike Batman Begins.

Looks pretty cool. Love the opening Antartica shot! I just don't understand why they didn't start over like they did with the Batman movies. I still don't understand what the big deal is with the original Superman movies. I was listening to Dr. Laura yesterday and she mentioned the Superman "flies around the world to reverse time thing " which made me laugh.

I also think this guy looks more like a Superboy than a Superman. I think the logo shield design and the colors they're using are real boss.

just curious, but how old are you? i don't mean that as an insult, but i've recently discovered that most people who think "superman the movie" was lame are kinda young. i'm guessing late teens, early 20's?:monkey1

as for starting over? why do this? why waste an hour or more on a back story that was done perfectly in superman 1?

batman never really had his back story told, so that was good to see, but the frist 2 superman films were near perfect. why not just forget superman 3 and 4 and go from there?

But "bad" Superman is classic in part 3. It's great when he is drunk in bar, flicking nuts at alcohol bottles, breaking them. ;)

yea, that was really cool, and i loved when clark beat bad superman in the junkyard, but even the most devoted chris reeve and superman fan(which i am) will admit that three and four are mostly crap.(thanks to the sucky director and producers). :monkey2

Well said. I am 21 and I think the first 2 movies were done perfectly. Althougt, I would have liked a hotter Lois Lane .:D

Yeah, 3 and 4 have some ok parts in them (3 more than 4) but they are no where near the quality of 1 and 2.

Donner's version of 2 will be coming out at the end of the year. While I love part 2 how it is, it will still be cool to check it out.

The trailer certainly has me more interested than I was, the first trailer just seemed rushed (perhaps an homage) it came across like they really didn't have much filmed.

The only thing I am unsure of is Lois, certainly much younger.

The word I hear is this film "takes place" sometime after Superman 2 and uses many of the story elements from the first 2 films...

As awful as 3 was, that Clark vs Superman fight is classic. There's absolutely nothing good about 4, nothing.

Just rewatched the trailer in HD on my 23-inch Cinema display...and, while I still think the kid angle is going to be slightly annoying, man does this flick look good! :)
