dont keep detailed records, but my credit card bill was $4k+ / month for the last few months, i only use it to buy statues + food, and i dont eat that much so....

this month is a bit better, but i have a feeling that will change soon with sdcc and all the preorders coming in.

on a happier note i think have finally caught up, all the stuff i want but missed i have now, so no more dealing with ebay, just preorder new stuff as they come. It's a great feeling.

Actually still need the ironman maquette...but last one!

Wow. This hobby lends itself to the mega-rich clearly. As for me, a mere mortal, I spend £100 a month on them! I prioritise my girlfriend, socialising and am saving up for a mortgage to boot. So, in spite of how much I love these things, I put them at the absolute bottom of all my priorities. That way, it stays fun. Sure, it can be frustrating not having everything you want now, but that's the same for most of us. Time is money, and from 5-10 years time, I'll have something pretty damn impressive imo. Plus, I'm at an advantage as I don't like Star Wars!:) Predator, Terminator, Alien vs Predator, Avengers, Batman....that's pretty much it. I've been collecting, properly for one year, and have spent just over £1200. Mainly sideshow spider-man 3 stuff which I'm buying in hind-sight. Got my eyes on the 1:1 Endoskull next, or the Enterbay Dark Knight.

Sideshow Celtic Predator Bio £290
Spider-Man 3, Venom, Sandman Diorama £100
Hot Toys Ghost Rider £270
Gentle Giant/Diamond Select, Death of Eddie Brock £85
Gentle Giant/Diamond Select Venom bust £40
Spider-Man 3 Black on Church Tower (SS) £90
Spider-Man 3 Red and Blue bust £60
Spider- Man 3 Venom Bust SS £40
Koto ART FX Incredible Hulk, Daredevil busts. £120
Sunstar Delorean, Minichaps Aston Martin V8 £100
A bunch of NECA figures still in packaging...

by the end of the year, I'll be adding the Endoskull, and possibly the Berserker Bio, or 2 Enterbays. (wrong forum:))

If you don't like Terminator, why buy the Endoskull? :dunno

Wow, 13k in 2 months! I thought I was crazy after spending around 2k since August last year. And it has almost been a year since I got into this hobby. When I realized I have spent too much money on statues (according to me 2k is a lot for less than a year) without thinking twice, I managed to convince myself that I need to stop. And now I am regretting that I bought them and want to sell them away and start over. So I have decided after I manage to get rid the statues I don't want and only concentrate on collecting some particular line or license.

When I started with this hobby I was like you, want eveything because I have been missing out on so many beautiful pieces, especially SSC's Marvel stuff. For example, Cap PF ex (comic), Thor PF ex (comic), hulk PF ex (comic), Iron Man com ex (the one with the flag), IM & War Machine Maquettes and just to name a few... So now I have decided since I have been missing out all of Marvel stuff from SSC I am not going to buy anything they are releasing that is Marvel related and only focus on SSC's DC line. Since they recently got the license and so far they have only released Joker PF and Batman 1:1 Bust (I have both on PO), I will stick with DC only.
So button line is, you need to think carefully what you purchase if you want to continue with this hobby in long terms. Indeed it is a very expensive hobby and it is fun to buy stuff but don't make this to a habit.

Btw comicbookguy, awesome collection list! :)

Thanks bro! I'm sure your collection is awsome too. :) happy collecting. I'm going to have to slow down soon.

There are other peeps with bigger collections then I like Averone & Fremen & Kingofthehill78. I haven't step into the 1:1 scale yet nor if I would ever attempt it :lol But I can probably say I have the biggest toy collection here (not really bragging) and I don't need pictures to prove it :monkey3 :D

I buy things so I can enjoy it. I wouldn't let some peeps spoil it by demanding to see pics. Its ultimately your choice, after-all its a hobby that should be enjoyed. :)

There it's been corrected....:lecture :lol

:lol I don't know about that :wink1:

I do know...:lecture ... I went through most of your collection thread but I never saw any collection pics of all your statues displayed. Do you display your statues? Or do you just take pics and then put them back in their boxes?

You didn't look hard enough :lol there are some pics with my stuff display at my collection thread. :wink1: 90% of my stuff are indeed displayed with over 80% in my bedroom. I have really poor lighting in my room to take any pics because all the windows are covered with framed pics. I prefer natural lighting with no flash photography, that's why I don't post pics of them. I hate posting crappy pics now.

Great collecting! I didn't like star wars either. Until just 2 months ago when i started collecting SS statues. Now I love star wars. It's a really cool universe when you get into all the many siths and jedi characters. This hobby is getting more and more expensive for example the prices use to be 250.00 a statue and now they are reaching 400.00 main stream for one statue. This doesn't even include tax and shipping. But since I got in, so far it's been fun. :) but not on my wallet.:(

Thanks dude, Yeah, I can get that. There are some awesome-looking characters in the SW universe for sure...Darth Maul has always struck me as being an awesome-looking character. It's intangible really why I'm not into SW, I've seen all of the prequels (felt ROTS was best)...but they just didn't grab my subconscious in anyway. Kinda relieved, because theres gotta be so much temptation to spend on that license!

Yea, I'm certainly not prioritizing collecting over my marriage. I have a great wife who accepts my collecting and 2 beautiful 7 month old girls and they will always come first. That being said, I love statues now and will continue to collect as long as my other priorities are financially taken care of. Space is more of an issue than money right now!!!!

That's a cool position to be in :)

Sorry for all the replies, but some really good points made close to my own experience. I don't think it's possible or a good idea to collect a backlog of stuff. Especially when you consider secondary market prices v pre-order prices.

That's sort of why I stopped collecting 1/6 Hot Toys fairly early. I had a bad experience with an HT Dark Knight due to seller and was disappointed by the SM3, so got rid. Always more of a statue person, and the appeal of HT was really down to detail/sculpts rather than the accessories/poseability etc.

In the end, i just let it go, as I felt they were overpriced and there was just so many of them. Will only get a small selection of these I think.

Feel liberated by that decision, and now I can save up comfortably for new PFs/1:4s.

(Plus, in the UK, taking customs tax etc into account it works out that a pre-ordered 1:4 is only a tiny fraction more expensive than an Ebay HT.)

I only have one statue at this time but have a couple on PO ( SS lady Death, R2D2 C3PO). The one I have is a SS Hulkbuster that I got a great deal on and goes perfect with my Hot Toys Iron man collection.

I try to avoid collecting statues just because of all the space they take up.
I live in a Apartment, it's not small but it's not a house.

When I see one I would like to purchase I always check the size to see if it will fit someplace before anything else, I have passed on a few because of the dimensions.

I might pick up one or two of the Mythos line but that is about it (don't quote me on that :lol) until I move into a bigger place.

Welcome to PF statue collecting! :clap

Well from NOV 2011 to till date. I have spent 6500$ Excluding Preorders in about 7 months..... all Statues at retail. & now 14+ Preorders also upcoming preorders .... I almost made mind to pay more than retail for grail statues like Cap PF, Thor PF...... but i changed my mind again. will get DC line Statues.... Marvel specific ones,Predator & Arni Statues. I have spent too much money for customs 1300$ :( ........

I keep track my statue spending in excel spreadsheet, this cost me $16,095 (It has been 23 months since my first purchase):

40 statues
$402/statue on average (paid above retail on some of them)
$700/month

I would be happy if I can reduce my spending to $500/month.

This thread is depressing and actually makes me want to stop.

When you put it out of sight and mind that's one thing.
When you keep track and total up the cost of this crap...yes I said it...crap lol - It's insane to think how much we spend on this.

I almost, well actually I do feel guilty somewhat.

This thread and comic book guy makes me want to slow down and give it a break! lol

So many awesome vacations or a new car by now I could have had lol

But I'm going in the right direction. Glad I cancelled the Neytiri Maquette. I'm staying away from the LSF line for a long while!

Other then the Droids and upcoming Jake Sully Statue, so far I'm under control with what comic con is throwing at me.

:hi5:

If you only knew how many times I tell myself I'm stopping :slap I do feel sometimes like it's wasted money and that's what makes me want to stop.

You both are correct. HUGE waste of not only money, but also time and effort. It is not all bad, but it is soo hard to keep in moderation.
