One of my Ask Sideshow questions was answered earlier this year, and Sideshow confirmed/acknowledged that Boromir was on the drawing board.

I've said it numerous times on this board (and on Sideshow's own page): while I love Boromir's Fellowship garb (very rich and beautiful...it even looks great on the 1/6 figure, so one can only inmagine how great it would look in PF form), I would really like an armored Boromir PF as depicted in the Retaking of Osgiliath from the extended Two Towers.

Sideshow's Vlad the Impaler PF could definitely be used as a template for an armored Boromir; in fact, I wouldn't mind if a Boromir in Gondorian Armor PF mirrored it to some effect. As with the Vlad PF, Boromir must be holding the Gondorian flag in one hand, and his great swod in the other, raised to the sky (instead of pointing a mace like the Vlad the Impaler PF). Boromir's black fur-lined cloak is a must as well, and with a ruined parapet base and a great head sculpt of Sean Bean, this would be my most wanted LOTR PF.

Always loved that piece Woodsy!

It is done absolutely beautifully!

Oh and I guess I wouldn't mind this guy.......

Gimli_With_Axe.jpg

Yeah, Gimli would be amazing. I recently questioned SS in their "Ask Sideshow" segment why if they are so in tune with what LOTR collectors want, do we not have a single Gimli representation in 4 years. Considering SS has produced 30 item's to date [PF's, LSB's, and dio's combined] it seems rather disturbing we've nothing so far of this very popular character. I eagerly await their answer. :naughty

If SS still has the LOTR licence in 2036, and if they are doing multiples of the same character by that time, and if the world hasn't been struck by a huge asteroid....then I like your chances of an armoured Boromir PF. Otherwise we will be getting one of these two versions :

Mines of Moria : With shield, without cloak

Amon Hen : Without shield, with cloak

Nah i'm all for the shield. Boromir = shield. :rock

And I agree with woodsy. Fellowship gear PF is what we will see. Which is a good thing. :D

Either would be fine by me..Boromir really is one of my only definite buys from this line :)

Whether or not he is next, I would prefer to see Boromir in his outfit from the fellowship with his fur cloak, shield and horn. It would be an interesting display with Boromir and his nice clothes next to Aragorn in his ranger gear (Though I would still love to see little 1/4 bracers for Aragorn!)

I know this is a pipe-dream, but my ideal PF line would include:
The rest of the Fellowship:
-Boromir
-Gimli -with helmeted and non-helmeted heads if possible
-Merry/Pippin - two pack to ensure they both get made!
-Sam - I love the idea that he can come with Bill the Pony!
-Gandalf the Grey (who has been confirmed!!!)

Good Guys:
-Arwen
-Elrond
-Eowyn
-Eomer - In armor
-Theoden - In armor
-Faramir

Bad Guys/Creatures
-Mordor Orc
-Ringwraith
-Twilight Wraith
-Morgul Lord
-Cave Troll
-King of the Dead
-Gollum

And if possible, Sauron

At this rate of two figures per year, that would last until the 20th anniversary of the movies! After these must haves for me, I would also be interested in some of the amazing armored characters, like the Rivendell Elves, the Prologue Elves, Armored Gondorians, Fountain Guards, Easterlings, etc....

This isn't too much to ask for, is it?:duh

So is the two per year a limit for Sideshow set in stone?
I don't think so...it is just what we have been seeing from them. With Star Wars basically becoming it's bread and butter and Marvel/Disney gaining speed, LOTR has been relegated to the BACKGROUND...BOO HOO!!

Now stick a few heavy duty arrows in him and put him on his knees and I would have the Boromir Pf I would want! :monkey5

Orrrrrrrrr........you add Lurtz [and a few dead Uruks] to the mix and turn it into the Boromir dio. I want. :D

I think a dio would be more appropriate for this scene as well. It would look cool in the PF medium but would be executed better in a diorama.

The dioramas seem to work best for dynamic poses like the Boromir and Lurtz scene in FOTR (or pretty much any of the dio's they have done thus far) but the PF figures are more singular and iconic poses of the character. They aren't tied too specifically to one scene, unless you are really paying attention. Frodo can be from pretty much any point throughout the movies, but if you know the films really well, it becomes immediately apparent that he is in the mines of moria.

I am bummed that we only get one or two of these figures a year, but before now that was about all I could afford. I'll let Sideshow know when I get a raise and they can make them faster! All kidding aside, I don't know why they don't make more of these per year, but it must be a _____ to design those scaled costumes.

SS has averaged 2 PF's/year [though nothing is written in stone concerning this number], however they also stated in one of last year's "Ask Sideshow" segments we would be getting several PF's this year, probably because we only got the Berserker last year.....I'm thinking we'll get three : Legolas, GTG, and hopefully the Ringwraith. :D
