5min into any exchange with Snikt.
Nah, you've simply failed to provide any evidence to prove your point, while I keep providing evidence to disprove it.
5min into any exchange with Snikt.
5 comic books and 3 action figures only re-enforces what I said, and what's true, Disney put the prequels on the back burner. This has nothing to do with whether or not I think the prequels are good or bad, it's just the move Disney made.
*reinforces
If you took off your prequel-coloured glasses for five minutes you'd see it. This isn't a courtroom, chief, use your common sense. The halt of nearly all prequel related material after the Disney buy should be evidence enough for any reasonable thinking person.
What does "nearly" mean, Skint? I can never figure out if you are deliberately misunderstanding conversations with people on this board or it's genuine. Do you honestly believe because you bought some comicbooks that Disney is just full steam ahead with the prequels, that you didn't notice the drop off of practically anything prequel after Disney took over? I just can't take you seriously.
Anyone with half a brain could see the majority PT output end
Neither of you two gents is really right.
LFL/Disney is not "phasing out" or "ending" PT merchandising. There will still be some. But they have and will continue to scale it way back for the foreseeable future, particularly where high-end, adult collectors are concerned. You won't see the near avalanche of PT merch like we had pre-2012 for a long, long time. And even then it won't be the same because then we're talking 3 out of 12+ movies.
The Prequel era had its day and its time, just as the Vintage OT era did. Those characters aren't completely going away in regards to merchandising and products, but they won't be as ubiquitous, either.
You two seem to be arguing over black or white scenario, when the truth is nice slushy gray.
And I don't need "proof"... I get this straight from the people who know.
I know a guy who's working on Episode VII who says Disney won't be using any CG or green screen to distance the movie from the prequels.
If they nailed Cushing's likeness it'd be a guaranteed purchase for me. If it was so-so like Old Ben, I'd pass. Figures are just too expensive now to settle. (And visually the *only* interesting thing to me about characters like Tarkin or Ben represented in this format *is* the likeness to the actor... Good representation of the 'character' is not enough).
It's not one of Luceno's best, but it's a decent read. Some good stuff in there about the earlier days of the Empire.
There's another angle to this I haven't seen discussed here yet. And that's this: Now, more than ever, Lucasfilm & Disney understand the power and appeal of nostalgia, particularly when it comes to STAR WARS. Some believe (and I tend to agree) that there is value is letting certain things simmer down for a while in order to re-build mystique and then tap into any nostalgic connection it may have when it returns. The Prequels/Clone Wars have been so ubiquitous for the past 16 years that it's hard to get or feel nostalgic about any of it. LFL sees and understands this, too. It's not an evil, malevolent intention to bury the prequels forever... They'd just like to slow that way down for a while in order to gauge its true long-term appeal within the zeitgeist. If PT stuff demand grows, it'll return in a big way. But, again, not likely for at least 5 years or so. Until then, it'll continue the new normal: it'll trickle out.
Nothing personal, but that's why I never take the "I know someone" claims people make online seriously.
