What do you guys think about Crabtree? Apparently he finally has agreed to a 6 year deal with the 49rs. My opinion is that he didn't want to sign with a crappy team. He noticed they have been playing well and decided to jump on the bandwagon. :lecture
Very possible. Funny how short-sighted people are, though. Yeah, they are pretty good through 4 games this year, so you sign a 6 year deal? :lol

Whatever. As for the character issue, I don't think holding out has anything to do with that, personally. The NFL is a big business, and everybody involved is out to make as much money as they can. Some have different strategies for maximizing their money, and though I don't know the details, I assume that Crabtree is making a lot more now than if he didn't hold out.

Was it kind of stupid to refuse the amount a person chosen at his spot in the draft would typically get? I don't think so. I mean, the amount of money paid to draftees is incredibly retarded from the get-go. Is a number 1 pick so much better than a number 6 or 7 that they deserve the higher amount of money? No. That's just the way the stupid game is played, and if a draftee can't come to a financial agreement with his team, than he can sit out and go work at McDonald's. It's his life.

I hope Crabtree is a massive failure. I hope he ends up a journeyman and plays for league minimum until he's out of the leauge for good. I also hope this will push the commish towards talks of a rookie cap.

edit: I also hope that the next news we hear about him on espn is that he reports to camp and Patrick Willis beats him silly as his welcome to the club hazing.

edit II: I also hope that he is such a distraction for them this week that the Falcons beat the dog snot out of them on Sunday.

WOOOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doesn't seem like the Jets gave up all that much for Braylon Edwards. Not really a big risk in my opinion if he fails but huge win if he's really good.

It should be about the love of the game first and foremost IMO. Not $. If you started out as a kid wanting to play football for money in the future you're playing for the wrong reasons IMO. (call me old school)

What's the difference a between a few million here and there when you already are gonna get more than the average joe will ever see?

If you're in it mostly for the $, i just can't respect the person on the field as much as i'd like. Of course with all the pansy's out there today i better stop deluding myself lol.....Ignorance is bliss :)

The Pansys out there are due to all the new don't hit anyone rules. IMO the NFL is and has been getting soft. :banghead

That's not true. With today's athletes getting bigger and stronger year after a year, if rules weren't established you'd see career ending injuries on a regular basis. Back in the day you didn't have 6'2'', 230lb. safteys that ran 4.2 forties. You didn't have defensive lineman that were 6'6'' 300+ lbs. that moved as fast laterally as running backs. People were tough back then no doubt, and endured a lot of stupid, and pointless abuse that did nothing for their bodies long term. It's really sad looking at the majority of ex players that played under these rules that can hardly walk today. Especially with the lack of support the NFL itself provides for them. The rules are neccessary and are in the players best interests for the game and after the game.

I totally agree and disagree all the same. The new Brady rule stuff is what kills me. They just had a good debate on inside the NFL about it. Brady was barely touched twice and the Ravens were hit with 15 yards each time. McNabb was hit in the endzone after he scored a touchdown. The play broke his rib and no penalty. :duh The rules are created for certain players and it doesn't apply to others. Notice how when Brady was tapped on the head he turned right to the official. The official didn't throw the flag while it happened. He looked at Brady turn and complain. Then he nodded at him and threw the flag. That is the lame ass ^^^^ I am talking about.

Also an unnamed Patriots player admited off the record that it was a lame call. The players are a talking. Not good. Something has to give.

Also I would like to add that these rules are not in the best interest of the players. It is in the best interest of the NFL to keep certain players in the game. IE MONEY!

I agree that it was a lame call, but I can also understand why they called it. The majority of the time when a new rule is put in place the refs seem to go overboard that year with calling it just to establish the rule.
